Fascinating account of the Chapek-Iger battle in today's NY Times

Wow...can't say I'm a fan of Chapek but after reading that, I'm far more sympathetic towards him. I also think far less of Iger; he comes across as petty, insecure and childish. The whole Disney leadership seems pretty bad, actually. Highly dysfunctional and lacking leaders who take accountability, and treat others with respect. Can no one take the high road on the board? 🤪😬

If you've ever read Iger's book, you'll see he's all about himself.

I think it was in the first chapter he speaks about growing up poor. If his jeans got a rip in them, it would be a few weeks before his family could afford to buy him a new pair. He's forgot about his roots and only cares about himself, the board, and shareholders.

It REALLY IS time for him to leave Disney, and not in 2026, but ASAP.

He ain't doing too well for us shareholders. But he does pay himself quite handsomely.

But the issue still remains - who should replace him. Until the board finds the right person he needs to stay.

He doesn't set his compensation. The Board does that.

I definitely think Alan Bergman should replace Iger. He has been at Disney since 2001, meaning that he's more familiar with it, and has always been part of the film unit.

Read Disney Wars and you’ll get some insight. Iger was a Epstein choice. no lack of ego there

Lots of BS and butt covering there in the article. Chapek was way over his head. Does Iger have an oversized ego? You bet. But name me a CEO of a major corporation that is different

Sounds to me like Chapek fundamentally misread the situation.... and he made some decisions that, love or hate them, alienated him from a couple of key board officials...

You mean those shareholder votes for board members do nothing?
Effectively, yes. Rarely is anyone elected to a board of directors that's not been "recommended." You saw how Nelson Peltz's efforts tuned out.
