So in summary, Iger is an egomaniac with control issues and Chapek is socially inept and insecure. That tracks.
And the board, who is supposed to be looking out for us shareholders, was less than useless throughout. So in summary, Iger is an egomaniac with control issues and Chapek is socially inept and insecure. That tracks.
That theory has some merit, imo. Let Chapek take the hit for the impending Covid disaster, then swoop back in and save the day. But so far, the day hasn't been saved very effectively. Meanwhile, Iger is getting no younger.Left un-investigated in this well researched article was the why Bob 1.0 announced the new CEO so quickly without giving the board time to do basic due diligence and interviewing. Why did he want to get out so quickly? Why put someone who he knew was not fit for the job in charge, heading into Covid, of all things. It really seems like Bob 1.0 did not want to be the lead while the pandemic crushed the company and just wanted to be the savior putting the pieces back together.
Iger was invited to the White House with a bunch of other CEOs and was given the real story on the upcoming pandemic. Announced his retirement the next morning 8am. Abandoned the company at the darkest hour.Left un-investigated in this well researched article was the why Bob 1.0 announced the new CEO so quickly without giving the board time to do basic due diligence and interviewing. I expected he had some advance knowledge to help make his decision but there was no mention of that in this article. Links that confirm that timing?Iger was invited to the White House with a bunch of other CEOs and was given the real story on the upcoming pandemic. Announced his retirement the next morning 8am. So let me get this straight Chapek took over in February 2020 which means that there would have been conversations prior to that as to who the new CEO would have been. The middle of March in 2020 is when the process of shutdows where beginging but not were not that extensive. That theory has some merit, imo. Let Chapek take the hit for the impending Covid disaster, then swoop back in and save the day. But so far, the day hasn't been saved very effectively. Meanwhile, Iger is getting no younger.
Iger stepped down as CEO he remained with the company as executive director. He didn't just leave.Iger was invited to the White House with a bunch of other CEOs and was given the real story on the upcoming pandemic. Announced his retirement the next morning 8am. Maybe he was just lucky. So let me get this straight Chapek took over in February 2020 which means that there would have been conversations prior to that as to who the new CEO would have been. Your telling me that Iger can predict the future?
But he remained with the compay as the executive chairman so it's not like he just left.Maybe he was just lucky.
The facts speak for themselves. DIS stock price is almost exactly where it was ten (10) years ago.But he remained with the compay as the executive chairman so it's not like he just left.
I'm all for coming after Iger if it's warrented but the conspiracy theories are crazy.
The article goes into this a little. The conversation had been had but it was definitely rushed. It was stated that the board didn't have time to interview Chapek because Iger was so adamant about leaving ASAP. It was so abrupt his friends called Iger and asked if he was sick.So let me get this straight Chapek took over in February 2020 which means that there would have been conversations prior to that as to who the new CEO would have been. Shanghai Disneyland closed on January 26 2020. anyone who had presence in China and good information coming out from there plus corroborating info directly from the White House could see where this was headed. Doesn't take a genius to know it wouldn't be good. still no idea if there's any merit to it not but by February 2020, plenty of people knew this was going to be a global pandemicSo let me get this straight Chapek took over in February 2020 which means that there would have been conversations prior to that as to who the new CEO would have been. What's your point? I never argued for/against Iger as a CEO and stock price of a company is extremely subjective. The facts speak for themselves. DIS stock price is almost exactly where it was ten (10) years ago.

Ok. Assume it wasn't a setup by Iger. Further concede that Chapek was/is an idiot in over his head. What's your point? I never argued for/against Iger as a CEO and stock price of a company is extremely subjective.
My point was only that chapek wasn't some fall guy, like Iger knew the entire world was going to go to hell in the matter of months.
Was it down 10 years ago?The facts speak for themselves. DIS stock price is almost exactly where it was ten (10) years ago.
