Just read something on AOL. Do people have to pay for some aspects of Farmville?

Most of the Facebook games have *something* that you can pay for -- purchasing extra health points, or items to be used for the game. Most of them don't require that, but it's an option.

The only time you use your own real money is if you want to buy(using credit card) stuff for your farm. Otherwise you play and earn farmville money to buy stuff for your farm so its free in that way.

Correct, some aspects of Farmville require you to pay. But by no means do you have to pay anything to enjoy or even dominate the game if you know what your doing.

Paying for things generally speeds up the process or makes farming alot easier depending on what you buy.
