Hi
We are going 3rd week in September. I read and thought it was really hot mid 80s to low 90s
A friend said she's gone around that time and it was too cold to swim and usually colder in late sept

She also said it's hurricane season and will rain all day
I read it will rain usually late afternoon for 15 min to couple hours everyday and that's usually it.

I'm hearing two different things. Anyone subscribe to farmers almanac who wants to weigh in?

Farmers Almanac is correct. We have gone a few times in September and October and we have always gone swimming. It will rain in the afternoon but just like you said it is pretty quick. Your friend may be mistaken or was there for a quick cold spell.

I was there Sept 15-21 last year. We swam. It was hot.

It did rain a bit. But nothing terrible. We just put ponchos on and were fine.

We have been twice in Sept, the 4th week. Both times have had temps in the Low 90's, high humidity (like 85%), and rain at least an hour a day. But not enough rain to keep us from the parks! Plenty hot for swimming anytime of the day!

We go in September every year and it's HOT, 90's. This year it rained tremendously every day, started at the usual 3:00, but never stopped. Our resort was flooded on all the walkways, roads were a mess. I personally have never seen rain like that. But like I said, we go every year, and this was our first "washout" trip. But it's hot every year. I can with 100% certainty say it's warm enough to swim. We always go around third week.

oh boy, I hope it doesn't rain all night while we are there. Are goal is to hit Food and Wine most nights!

Im thinking of going to WDW last week of Sept or early Oct. What should weather be like till then? Will be warm enough for water parks? Also another question. How much day light do we usually have for the parks that time of yr?

Hi

That IS confusing! no wonder!

mid 80's low 90's is mild...warm...maybe "kind of hot" with the humidity.

Of course, that's a Texan way of looking at it...where Sept temps can often still be close to 100.

If it's 50 I'm in the pool, but I'm from WI

Been at end of August and it's surface of the sun hot. From the minute you step outside you'll be sweating.

I went in August back in 2002. What a mistake that was not only was it hot and humid but it poured every day. Some days just a short heavy shower other days it rained all day. Wont make that mistake again. The rain too some of the fun out of the vacation.

September is usually hot. And humid. The rain is typically, as others have said, 15 min to 2 hours around 3 pm. That is the weather on a non stormy day. IF there is a storm in the vicinity, it could rain all day. The past few years have been very light on storm activity, and our summers have been fairly dry. It is a crap shoot, unfortunately. All you can do is watch the weather a few weeks before your trip to guestimate what you will get..... bring good ponchos. Seriously.

We have gone several times in Sept. Last year the second to last week was VERY rainy. Both last year and several years ago we went to the Halloween party both times were a complete washout. That being said we travel in Sept. it is warm and the prices are reasonable.

As far as swimming we stayed at WL as year the threads were very heated about the pool being closed. Sept is still hot and swimming is popular.

DH and I went for a weekend 2 years ago. I do not think it rained once. The weather is very hit or miss but the value makes up for it. I just booked a Fantasy cruise which we plan to end with a weekend in WDW. BTW DH and I did sail during Sandy.

Ok. I live here (about 75 miles due west of WDW) and can tell you that Sept is NOT cool by any means. It's very hot and very humid. It doesn't start to "cool off" until the end of Oct beginning of Nov here.
You can expect day time high's near 90 and night time lows in the upper 70's maybe the high 60's.
Afternoon T-storms are a given and yes it does rain almost everyday for about 30 min. You can time it to be some where between 3-7 everyday. It is extremely rare that it rains all day or night anytime of the year here. It does happen but it's not typical. It is the sunshine state after all. ;)
Bring ponchos just in case or plan a long late lunch or early dinner to avoid the storms. You usually can see them building in the sky.

Oct is still way warm enough to swim. Rain is still an if-y thing and sometimes you'll get a little more night time rain than in Sept.

If your friend thinks that September is too cold for swimming, then she's got a weird idea of what "cold" is. (Although I have heard of people who think that it's not warm enough for swimming unless the temperature is at least 90.)

Typically it's about 90 in Orlando in September

I've been in the magic kingdom when it was 97 on 10/30 and typhoon lagoon when it was 85 on 2/14...

But there's no way to predict the weather 6 months from now...their could be a cat 5 hurricane in the gulf at that time.

Kinda a fruitless endeavor, isn't it?

I agree even daily weather can change. I was in WDW two weeks ago. 1/7 was like a high of 45 or so and 1/11 was a high of 75. That's a 30 degree difference in 4-5 days.

I was shocked that there are still people that look at a Farmer's Almanac. You do realize that no-one can predict the weather past 24 hours, right? I could write the Farmer's Almanac and be just as accurate as they are.

The Old Farmer's Almanac claims "many longtime Almanac followers claim that our forecasts are 80% to 85% accurate." This is simply a claim and not the actual accuracy. John Walsh, University of Illinois Atmospheric Sciences professor emeritus, reviewed the accuracy of 5 years of monthly forecasts from 32 weather stations around the county and found 50.7% of the monthly temperature forecasts and 51.9% of precipitation forecasts to correctly predict a deviation from averages.

So Farmer's Almanac is an impressive 50/50, which is also the accuracy of using a coin toss.

However, they can probably get September in Florida pretty close each year.

High's in the low 90s, lows in the low 70s. Humidity in the 80 - 90% range. On a good day it rains a bit, On a bad day it rains a lot. And when I say rain, I mean "sky opens up and you've never been wetter in your life" rain. On a really, really bad day you have a hurricane, but the good news is the parks will be pretty empty that day, so put on your poncho and wade in. We've done a couple of these August/September trips, and while it is not my favorite, you can still have a good time. (And I find it unpleasant when the temperature rises above 75.)

It was too hot for jeans during the trip we took in September a few years ago, and we wore both shorts and coats just days apart during a December trip.

Weather in the South jumps around a lot. I have worn shorts on Christmas Day, and we have to make sure we have Halloween costumes that can be layered if necessary.

ok good. I actually find it unpleasant when it is below 70 so I'm glad to hear the temp will be warm enough for shorts and a tank and some sunblock.

I hated going in November last year and the high hit 70!

I don't mind the rain monsoons as long as they last for less than an hour so here's to crossing my fingers on that! Going in August it actually got us to take the time to walk through the shops without feeling like we missed something
