Farm to table

Have you used this service? None seem near me.
It's a US grocery store chain, as you asked for in your original post. Yes, I've been to this type of store. I don't see a mission statement per se on their website, but they call themselves a farmers market and their emphasis is on produce and mostly healthy food.

Yes eggs is a common ingredient in many wines. The egg whites are dumped on the top of the barrels and it helps to settle out the fines. You end up having less sludge in the bottle. They never will list it on the bottle though. Too many wineries don't want to sully their reputation for producing a "natural" product.

I only know about this from reading about a custard-style dessert in Spain (the name translated to "sky bacon", so I needed to google to see what the heck it was) - they used tons of egg whites to clarify wine and made use of the leftover yolks in desserts.

We have some local markets that try to sell local goods when they are in season but I don't know of any larger chains that have the policy.

I don't understand. All produce comes from a farm.
It's the "to table" thing, not that it comes from a farm. "Farm to table" is marketing for your food that you feed your family with comes directly fresh from the farm with no 3rd party intervening. Stating "farm to table" for products sold in a grocery store is the very opposite of "Farm to table."

Farms that the majority of food comes from are more like manufacturing facilities producing food rather than growing food.

Some call it "farm to fork" but the concept is about more than just restaurants. It's also about knowing where the food comes from. It's linked to farmers markets. For instance, I went to a local farmers market where one regular grower was from Fresno. State regulations require that each seller have a list that shows where they're located and what products they're allowed to sell. They can't buy from a wholesaler and sell at the stand.

Certainly where I live, there's a lot of produce and meats that can be sourced within a 4 hour drive. And these days a lot of produce are sold with stickers or in packaging that identifies at least a cooperative, if not a specific farm.

I have a Sprouts local to me and I find them iffy regarding produce and I want to love them. It's a great concept.
Some our local more gourmet type grocery stores have farm to table produce. They label it with signs. Gelson's and Bristol Farms come to mind.

I try to hit up our local farmers markets a couple of times a month. Strawberries, lemons, oranges and avocados and just amazing right now.

Bristol Farms makes Whole Foods seem cheap.
