Farewell Hiro and Baymax...

I've never seen Big Hero 6 and have no interest in these characters, but seeing those pics in the OP even made me a little misty.

Maybe I've not paid attention, but I've never seen another send-off for characters like this one, especially where other characters turn up to say good-bye. It seems really final to me, like the friends of Sofia, Jake, and Doc know that their buddies won't be around anymore.

With the whole building closing, there was a lot that was out of the ordinary on Sunday. There was an air of finality throughout the whole day, so it doesn't surprise me that the other characters showed up for the send-off. Their line was up to 4 hours long, the Animation Academy line was consistently around 1.5-2, and the Mushu video was generally pretty full. The whole day almost had a last-day-of-high-school feeling to it where things that would not normally happen were allowed

it's always sad when something iconic closes down. My ex husband worked at Backlot Tour and on the last day a whole bunch of past and present CM showed up to be on the last ride. They handed out stickers with the Backlot logo and a space to write down which year you worked. Then they all gathered to be the last ones on, it was very emotional.

SOOO sad. Thanks for posting the video though! They need to come back. It is ridiculous that there was finally something awesome for boys, and they take it away. Speaking of....Why aren't there Star Wars meet and greets (outside of Star Wars weekends)?????? Why did they pay all this money for the IP when they aren't doing anything with it?!?!

DS and DD just watched the movie and asked if they would get to meet them...darn the bad timing.....

Wait for SW announcements during D23

My heart is broken, not just because of Baymax, but also for the Animation Building. Baymax is my new favorite character and I was super excited to meet to him on my trip next month. What a bummer. :guilty:

Shame .. Disney created a pretty cool "boy" character finally and his M&G lasts about 6-7 months at the parks? Yet Anna/Elsa take over the entire park during the summer with a short, a sing-along .. a parade ..a stage show and a fireworks?

My son would have loved that M&G for our trip on his birthday ... I am quite disappointed they can't find a spot to move it. How hard is it to move a M&G? Couldn't they have put M&Gs in the old Jack Sparrow area instead of a rest area?

So now with that building gone what Meet & Greets are there at DHS?

Agreed! It was also refreshing to have another POC represented in the parks. Hope they find another place for Hiro and Baymax soon!

Can't believe it, I was looking hoping to see them on our next trip. Maybe they could relocate them elsewhere?

Thanks for posting the video.

Such a bummer! My son LOVES Big Hero 6 and Baymax is one of his favorite characters - I have always hoped Disney would do more with Big Hero 6 as it was pretty popular! It's not that Big Hero 6 was only for boys, but my son just doesn't care about Frozen, etc and it would have been nice for him to meet Hiro and Baymax. We aren't going back till Dec 2016 so here's to hoping they bring them back by then :goodvibes

I have to agree with some of the other posters that it is a shame that this very cool "boy thing" has come to an end. I wonder why some of these just don't seem to have the staying power of princesses at Disney. We also fall into the camp of wondering how we will fill time at DHS is two weeks when we are there. Our group wants to see the Frozen fireworks and some want to see Fantasmic so we may have to leave and come back. I do wish, as the mom of a boy and the aunt of another that maybe there was a cool "dude" filled character meal. As a counterpart to the 2 princess meals. These guys could maybe be there with some pirates, monsters, maybe Miles from Tomorrowland, you know. Dudes.

Thanks for sharing! So cute and so sad. My little guy just saw the movie last weekend for the first time (and about 15 times since, lol) and he would have loved this when we go in November. I guess what he doesn't know won't hurt him, but I'll be sad we missed it! It would be so cool if they could integrate the story and characters at Epcot somehow.

I understand where you are coming from. We will always love Disney and my kids are excited about going again; but this is an example of why my DS6 has been asking us if we can also go to Universal because he knows that he can see the Minions, Transformers, Spongebob, and Spiderman over there. Yes he still loves Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Pirates, but having a balance between the classic characters and the "cool", up and coming characters would be really nice for kids of this generation, especially elementary/middle school age boys.

Sounds like my 3.5yr old. Loves Avengers, Spiderman, and any superhero but it's his stuffed Pooh Bear that gets the honor of being in his bed each night.

I'm hoping (I know, wishful thinking) that they are there when I go in 2017, and I agree that Epcot would be the perfect location for them. I do think it is weird, it was a successful movie for Disney, and the M&G is done for now. It was something that boys can enjoy, but do you think there is even discussion on a princess character having their meet and greets stopped? Like Tiana or Merida? I know my wife would love to meet Baymax, and fingers crossed they come back for good at Epcot.

Such a bummer. Was hoping this would still be there because my "way too cool for characters" DS12 was looking foward to seeing them this September.

I am so sad . . . I REALLY wanted to hug Baymax!
Fingers crossed that they find a new home before we go. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE . . . .

This was my son's favorite meet up 2 weeks ago! So glad I waited! Hiro was spot on and Baymax was so stinking cute!

They bought Lucusfilms, Marvel, and Pixar for the box office and merchandising. They are going to bring those properties into the parks but its not going to make a 1/10 of the billions of dollars they are looking for from the movies.
