FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

I am going to apologize in advance if this question has already been asked and answered. I have tried to read as many posts in this thread as possible but I still wasn't able to find exactly what I'm wondering about.

My DH and I are going to be at WDW for 6 nights using the free dining plan. I am a little confused about the amount of credits we will get for our length of stay. Could someone PLEASE explain this a little bit to me? I was thinking that total we would have 36 credits for 6 days. Am I figuring it up right or is something off?

Thanks in advance

you get one table service (TS), one counter service (CS) and one snack per person (in your room), per nite booked at a resort.

ie = 4 people for five nites would be

20 TS
20 CS
20 Snacks

YOU CAN USE THESE ANYWAY YOU WANT - 20 SNACKS THE FIRST DAY FOR EXAMPLE!

So, if DH and you are staying 6 days, and 5 nights then you would each get

5 TS
5 CS
5 Snacks

Total of 10 TS, 10 CS and 10 snacks for the both of you.

Thank you, Eddieras amd Good Ol Gal, you both answered my question. Very much appreciated!

man that was the first time i would have been able to answer a question to some member but due to the time adjustment you guys were faster :/

next time ;)

So, is this plan available to DVC members?

No it is not

This is what DVC told me when I emailed them about it:

"Currently we are taking a look at modifying our systems to be able to
add dining plans to Disney Vacation Club Reservations, however at this time, we do not have any estimated time that this service may or may not begin."

I would love it if we could add something like the dining plan. I know many DVC members say that they don't want/need it b/c they have a full kitchen, but I don't want to have to always cook :earboy2: I am on vacation after all!!

Exactly! In fact, we hardly ever cook. We use the kitchen for all the obvious reasons: to grab a quick breakfast, to reheat a take home portion that was too big, for that morning cup of coffee. But we eat out at least one meal/day and the kids would use up those snack coupons in no time.

Thanks for answering Elizabeth!

I have DDE but purchased a pkg with free dining. Can I use the free dining for a TS meal. Then at the same meal if I have, say kids meals or drinks on a cash check use the DDE discount at the same time?

Oohhh that's a good question!!

I have no expertise here, but I think you should be able to!! After all, you are paying for those items.

I'm always eager to read of experiences in sharing, especially table service. e4r

From what I've heard here in this thread, you should be able to. As long as you do separate checks, you should be fine.

There seems to be so many different ages listed for child vs. adult. Some restaurants say their children's menu is for 11 and under, but its my understanding that my 11 yo dd counts as an adult on the dining plan (we're paying adult prices for her park tickets for that matter). So...which menu can she, or must she order from? I think she is most interested in adult entrees.
And what about my ds who turns 9 that week?

We're getting the free dining, so prices are not the concern.

Your 11yo would order from the adult menu & your 9yo from the childrens menu. If she's not a big eater, you might want to pay for it out-of-pocket & use the extra credits for a SD or character breakfast.
