FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

You will have the disney dining plan for each NIGHT of your stay. So if you are staying 7 days, 6 nights you will have 6 snacks, CS and TS for each person in your party. You can use them anytime that you want to. There was a day that we only did TS and a day we only did CS. Whatever works best for you!

Linked to room card - yes, your room card will look like a credit card (only pretty! LOL) and it will list the dining plan on there, and how many adults and children. The kids only have to order kid's meals at table service, not at counter service.

Errors - you can check your receipt each time you do a meal, it will say how many remaining credits you have. We kept a running total in our room so we knew what it would be after each meal. If it was wrong we found that it was easiest to just have it fixed at the hotel lobby. They can print out what you have done and fix any errors in just a few minutes. When we had them fix it at the food place it took over 20 minutes each time.

YachtsMan Steackhouse - yep, order that lobster and steak - cost of meal is not an issue. The only places I have heard having a limit at Planet Hollywood and um, some other DownTown Disney one that was resently added (Wolfgang Puck???).

Family of 4/6 night stay - would get 24 (4X6) credits of each type. Unless there was a child under 3, than you would only get 3 X 6.

STICKEY please please please....

Hi all, I'm in the UK and am very interested in the new dining plan. Have been in touch with my tour operator to alter my room only booking for September to a package of room, park tickets and dining plan, but they don't seem to know much about it!
Is this plan available in the UK? And with the release of the FREE dining dates, do new UK bookings qualify for this also?

Hope someone can help, I'm beginning to feel very confused!!!......

wonder if this is still true-- they wouldn't let me add the filet to my lobster tail at Coral Reef-- the CM told me they just stopped allowing that add on...

Regarding the signature restaurants that require 2 points, does this apply to the children on the plan too? Seems a BIG waste if I have to give up 6 points for myself and my 2 children at a signature restaurant. It would be worth it for an adults, but for a kid ordering off of the kids menu??

We aren't using credits for our 6 yo at Cali Grill - we will pay for his meal out of pocket for this very reason :goodvibes

I would suggest paying out of pocket for the kids meal and saving those credits for another time. You can always use them for another day and pay out of pocket for the kids TS again!

That is what we plan on doing too! We are going to Whispering Canyon and I know my kids won't want, nor will they eat enough of, the all you can eat skillet. So we are planning on just paying for their ~$6 meals and use the TS we saved for a signature restaurant...

Now we just have to decide on which one!!!!

I had an AP rate at a deluxe and switched to POP (rack rate) for dinning. We are staying at POP for 6 ni with dinning and switching to Poly for 2 days at the end of our trip at AP rate without dinning. My question is on that last day, if I still have meals left, can I use them even though I am checked into the Poly?

Anyone know the answer to this question? It is my understanding with the dining plan you have until midnight of check out day of the package plan w/ hotel.

OK, good suggestion. Now I have to figure this out. We are only staying 4 nights, so we have 4 TS places to pick from. I'd like to eat at Narcoosses which would be 6 TS credits for the 3 of us to eat at since it's a signature. My other 3 places I've picked are....

Kona Cafe - kids meals cost about $6 here, plus $6 for dessert so if I paid out of pocket it would be $24 plus tax and tip. Not sure if it's worth it?? It would give me 2 extra TS, but still not enough to eat at Narcoosses...

Bomas - buffet is $10.99 per child up to 9; $24.95 for child 10 + so this restaurant is not going to work...

Sci-Fi Diner - now I COULD pay for this entire meal out of pocket? Maybe $40 for the 3 of us??? Would it be worth it to do it this way - pay $40 for 3 extra TS?

Just trying to figure out the best way to do this. I could also pay out-of-pocket at Narcoosses for my kids meals, but the problem is they see me eating a dessert, they will want one. I think the kids meals are around $6 plus another $5 for dessert, so $22 total plus tax and tip. This would give me another 2 extra TS, but again, not enough for Narcoosses unless I pool it with Kona Cafe, but now the prices I've paid out of pocket for my kids is getting up there!!

Maybe I'm dense when it comes to this dining program and using it to its fullest. Anybody having some ideas as to how I could work this out better?

I believe Boma kids' buffet is 10.99 for kids 11 and under (that's my plan, as I have 2 10yrolds) so that might be one place to save a TS credit. Also, another possibility is to say that 2 kids are sharing one complete meal at a TS place. Many on this board have said that sharing is definitely allowed. I already told my 12yr old DD that she and I will share a couple of meals at 2 TS places, because I really want to try them. I'll let her pick the appetizer and I'll pick the entree or vice versa, then she can pick the dessert as long as its anything chocolate, otherwise, I get to pick! I'm really considering having my 10 yr old DD's even just split 1 kid's meal or just pick a single appetizer and pay out of pocket for that. They eat pretty well when they're at home but tend not to eat as much at restaurants, even though they're 10 they still don't usually finish a kids' meal. We're not going til Sept. so this is my plan, but who knows if it will actually work!

You will have until 11:59 on the day you check out of Pop to use the dining credits up. So, by then you will be checked into Poly and settled in.

Do your cards show the ages of members on the plan? I realize when you have young kids...it's obvious that you paid the child rate...but what about those who are right at the boarder...either just under the "child" rate or just over. For example we have a dd who will be over the child cut off of 9... so she'll need the adult meal plan...but she is small and could pass for a 8-9yo...will the restraunts be able to tell she is on the adult plan...or will we be given a hard time when she trys to order off the adult menu? How do they know the age of each member...or do they? For that same question...we will be traveling with some friends who have a boy...who is under age 9...but is big and looks older...will they know he purchased the "Child" plan...or will he be able to order off the adult menu with any trouble? Any one know.???

I have read this entire thread and am getting mixed messages - does anyone know definitively if we can just use 2 TS credits for my DH and I and let our 6 year old eat from our meals? She eats like a bird and I know we will have plenty to go around!! I've read several posts where you all are planning to order child's meals and pay out of pocket to save credits. I'm fine with that if we are REQUIRED to order her something because she is sitting at the table, but I would prefer to just not order her anything. I have a strong feeling all three of us won't be able to eat the 2 meals with appetizer and dessert!! :earseek: I know with CS this is not an issue and I know with family style or buffet we would need to pay for her child's meal - I'm concerned about places like Concourse, Teppanyaki, Mama Melrose's, Sci Fi, & Whispering Canyon (we won't be getting the skillet but ala carte meals instead). Maybe it just depends on the server and maybe if we don't get an agreeable one we can just have it adjusted later, especially if she doesn't order anything. HELP!! :goodvibes

Unless you are at a buffet meal you can order for whomever you want and share your meals!!

I know that you mean just have your DD eat off of your plate, but if you and DH want to share let your server know and they can provide you with extra plates. Some will even split the meal between two plates.

DH and I are going to be splitting our meal at CA Grill to save even more on our TS credits! :)

Your card will say "X Adult X Child"

It won't say the ages of the children. (or adults thank goodness :earboy2: )

Interesting. We used the dining plan in January and we each got our own dessert as well as the pineapple with caramel. :crowded: It seems to me the pineapple is part of the meal and should not be considered dessert. At Ohana they take great pride in their desserts and usually show you a sample of them as you enter the restaurant. I really doubt there would be any problem ordering your own desserts using the plan. You could always call the restaurant manager and ask but again, I doubt this is the case.
When we were at Ohana's back in May (the 9th, IIRC), we weren't shown a dessert menu at all. Of course, that might have been due to our waiter. He wasn't very good; perhaps a little hurried due to the crowds.
