FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

When we called Disney & booked our package, we also requested the Dining Plan. This was not thru a travel agent.

Who told you that you have to book the Dining Plan thru a travel agent?
Wrong info.

Sorry I was in such a bad mood I obviouls wasn't to clear. I booked a holiday with Virgin to disney world alls star music. I was told by someone in the uk trip planning that for $45 you could get this through virgin, but virgin say that the program has to be booked locally in america as disney want it booking directly from them when you get to the hotel. Disney on the other hand say that as it is part of a package Virgin have to book it for me I hate trying to do things in the uk but my family worry about me doing it independatly. Also with having paid my insurance and deposit I can't afford to lose that money, I am fed up with dealing with companies whose attitude is we have you money get stuffed we can't be bothered. Its not like they where not making a profit their price is 35% higher than disney charge!!!!!!

we bought our dining plan through our travel agent when we purchased our whole trip. Maybe you could call disney direct and talk to a supervisor and tell them your dilema. They are usually more than happy to help.

Same here - everything was pooled. I didn't know the kids were supposed to order off the kids menu for CS, just for TS, so at CS we ordered them one meal and they split it. All we ever saw for kids was hot dogs or chicken nuggets. Yuk.
Wolfgang Puck Express was the only place that looked at the hotel key card and said "you have two kids? Here are their lunch choices . . . " But then they had pepperoni pizza and chicken strips, so the kids weren't complaining. And the cookies for dessert - WOW! They were awesome.

Just got back -- all credits were pooled. I was able to pay for my parents (not on dining plan) at 5 table service meals (we had 7 nights X 5 people in our family -- we went out 5 nights X 7 people instead).

Child's CS meals are SMALL and disappointing -- usually only 2 choices -- not good for my 9 year old, almost 5 ft son who is allergic to peanuts; however, they had no problem giving us adult meals for either of my younger kids (dd -8; DS -9).

I'll do a full report once we settle back in.

The trouble is that Virgin holidays is who I have booked it from and they are telling me it can only be booked at the hotel with dinsey. I have sent a complaint to their head office and the owners home so am waiign to hear from them.

The plan can be added to your package when you check in at the hotel. At least that is the info I have read on some sights.

you CAN NOT add the dining plan when you check in.

It must be added at least 48hours prior to arrival.

Correct...it must be added with Central Reservations, and CANNOT be added at check in....but we were told 72 hours ;-)

This may sound like a stupid question (considering I screwed up earlier about adding the plan, you decide :rotfl: ): Why can't the plan be added at check in? You can upgrade your tickies to Park hopper and all the rest, why not the dinning plan?

Or am I being logical :rotfl2:

I agree why can't you add it on, it would give disney more money as I didn't know it exsited before I found this site, and then thought it was only for americans. Its like getting blood out of a stone to try and get it added on to a holiday over here.

:confused3 :guilty:

Okay one more ?? Do we have to make reservations for our sit down meals? The kids are taking off on their own for most of the trip and don't want to have to plan where they eat. Can they just find a restraunt at the last minute?

It makes no sense to me either!

You would think that could be a big add-on when checking in...."are you sure you don't want you're meals prepayed for? It's only $38 a day per person?"

We've done it twice and LOVED it each time :teeth:

No you do not need reservations, but if there's some place you really want to try you should make a reservation, because you may not be able to get a table, the only night we didn't make a reservation we tried to get into Germany to eat, we would have had to wait until 9:00 to eat, but no you do not need to have reservations.

If the salad is listed in the same list as appetizers, then yes. But at Le Cellier for dinner there was a list of appetizers and a list of salads. The server told us right away that if we liked we could have a salad instead of an appetizer.
I don't know if other restaurants are different.

We ate in France and they said the same thing, DH didn't want an appetizer and the waiter offered him a salad instead, and we didn't get charged for it.

We went to Epcot one night without ADRs, and were not able to find a place to eat with a wait under one hour. We went to almost every country in the "world"! If they want a place at the last minute, they may often end up with CS.

So what happens I ring central reservations (can you give me the number please!!) tell them I will be in the Disney All Star Music from 17/9/06 until 02/10/06 and buy 15 days worth of disney dining plan? Any help would be appreciated as I am getting ratty about the whole thing, I even spent last night dreaming about the thing (food chasing you around a room for crying out loud) mind you it was at least a bit more interesting than dreaming about work again!!!!!!!!!!

Planning a trip in July and have booked the Dining Plan for family members: myself, husband and two dd aged 11 and 13. Am wondering about sharing TS meals at some of the restaurants as it is likely that dds will not be able to eat a full meal, with appetizer and dessert, each night of the plan. I am assuming that this is not frowned upon and is not too tacky.

We found NOTHING was frowned upon. Our girls shared at every meal pretty much and we never found it to be a problem. Go for it!

Just don't forget that you will then have "extra" credits. If you don't use them, it is kinda like wasting money.

If the kids will share TS meals leaving additional credits plan a signature meal or character breakfast. I'm sure you won't let them go to waste.
