FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

That would be awesome!! Thank You!! We are wondering what to do at this point. It seems like a lot to pay but will we pay more if we don't do it?

I haven't the time to go through all 75 pages to see if someone's asked this yet, so I'll ask it (again?)...please bear with me.

I have not purchased the dining plan with my upcoming trip. I did purchase a package, though, so I'm eligible for it. My question...can I add it on upon arrival at WDW? I'm still working out the details as to whether it'll be cost effective for me and my family.

I believe it needs to be added at least 48 hrs before check-in.

Thanks! That gives me plenty of time to rework the numbers!

We are DVC owners and have a large 2 year old. Will we be able to buy him the dining plan?
They are saying that DVC will be able to purchase the dining plan after April 2006. I think it would be a waste of money to try to purchase the plan for a 2 year old, especially if you plan on going to any buffets or family style dinners, where he is free already. Why waste the cash? You should have plenty of food to share, and it would be MUCH cheaper to pay out of pocket for an occasional extra to fill things out. It really is A LOT of food. We never had to purchase anything for our 1 and 2 year old, although that was mostly because our older kids could not eat even all of there kid's meals.
Some people just get an extra side dish or whatever if their kid is a big eater.
Happy eating!

Edited to add: Not to mention you will have to purchase park tickets for him, and he can get in free. So that's another added expense. Yikes.

Probably a stupid question but.......do you have to purchase the plan for your check out day???

The dining plan has to match the number of nights you are there. If you are booked for 6 nights (let's say 2 adults) you will get 12 TS, 12 CS, 12 snacks. You can use them how ever you want. If you don't want any credits left over on the day you depart, just use them up before. For example, you could use CS for breakfast AND lunch one day. You could eat at a signature rest. & use up 2 TS per person on one night. Whatever you need to do.

We will be there for 8 nights before moving to Vero, 2 adults and 2 kids so I am assuming we will have 32 TS, 32 CS and 32 Snacks - is that correct????

Yes, that is correct if both children are of paying age.

Is there a list that makes the most band for your buck on this plan? Like which restaurants make it the most worthwhile? Does using the table service for character meals make a difference?

Others will probably give you a more specific reply, but in my opinion, its hard NOT to get the most for your buck using the dining plan. It is soooo much food. You could eat at a couple of buffets and then eat at a couple of really pricey places and you would come out far ahead of paying cash.
I say pick what appeals to you, order what you want, no more, no less, and have a great time enjoying all that WDW has to offer. :)

Connie, going to the more expensive restaurant's, of course gives you the most bang for your buck, but you could be spending alot of time running to different parks to eat!! We are doing eating places in the park we choose to go to for that day. We do have 2 at resorts for evening. All character meals are TS meals for everyone at the table, no sharing.

New to discussion boards. How do I post a question?

Trying to line up character dinners and was thinking about the Princess Storybook (at Norway Epcot). Problem is the limited info I could find about the menu for this dinner leaves alot to be desired for my wife and kids. Any idea how I can find out what the menu is?

When do any credits remaining on the dining plan expire on the day of checkout/departure. For example,... check out Frid at 11:00 a.m. are any remaining credits good until midnight of that Friday?????

Thanks.

Yes...they would be good until midnight of the day you check out.
