Fantasy Western April 28, 2012

Can you try to PM me? I want to start the FE list. Thanks!
Why do you want me to PM you? I am not participating in the FE. You have made enough posts to send and receive PMs. Make sure that on your profile you have selected to be notified of private messages.

You should post asking those participating in the FE to PM you. Or you can look at the cruiser list on our cruise website, note the user names of those who indicated they'd like to participate, then PM them. ;)

As a first-time cruise I have a few questions for those more experienced cruisers:

1. Kids as young as 8 can sign themselves in and out of the Oceaneers Lab/Club. This seems young to me with the ship as big as it is. Has anyone let their kids sign in and out?

2. Is Palo a good dinner night out?

3. Does anyone do pin trading on the ship?

4. What savings do you get if you sign up for another cruise while on board?

5. How far in advance can you book another cruise?[/QUOTE

1. My son was 8 on our last cruise and he was not allowed to sign himself out. He will be almost 9 on this one and the same will apply!

2. This is a definate must for us! However, you must enjoy really good food and relaxed and attentive service. Believe it or not, I have read negative reviews because the food was too good and exotic for some!:rotfl: I say enjoy, and if you can make it happen don't miss brunch either!

3. Yes, we always bring our pins to trade with the attendants at the entrance to the restaurants and at special pin trading times;some even with the ship officers! The times for these events will be in the "Navigator you get each night - usually they have been around 7pm.

I would definitely say that Palo is very good, nicely presented food. Some of their signature dishes are "gourmet" quality, but I'm not sure if I'd label any of them "exotic." :lmao:

At Palo dinner, the secret is ordering something you LIKE. You may normally love chicken, but not be thrilled with their poultry offerings. You might not usually enjoy fish, but could be pleasantly surprised by theirs. If you are uncertain, spend some serious time with the menu and ask questions of the server. It is worth the time.

I don't know about pin trading on the Dream, but I think it might be difficult to fit that in on a 3-night cruise. On this Fantasy 7-night, YES!

Note: Had my 3 upcoming cruises mixed up for a moment! ;)

I love the chain idea! I think I will do that with my kids!

Anyone have smaller kids going this trip? Ours will be newly 4 (girl) and 5 1/2 (boy) at time of sailing. They will do some kids club activities but I am not planning on leaving them in there all day. Just thought if any of you have kids of similar ages, maybe we could get acquainted and our kids could exchange video letters or something - then they will know someone on the cruise before we even board!

ldymcbth - According to our cruiser list, Topelski4 has a 4 yr girl. You might send a PM to them to inquire if they'd like to do that.

I know you're not part of it, but I wanted to test out a PM before asking others to try to contact me for the FE.

Hello Every1!

We just switched over from the April 13th Eastern 7 night to this cruise. Can't wait to be on the new ship!

Just a little info about us; Family of 5, me, DH, DD (9), DD (7) and DS (5). We hail from a town right outside of Pittsburgh, PA. This will be our 4th Disney cruise. Last year we did a 7 night Western and are hooked on taking longer cruises! Last year was also our first time participating in the FE and it was really fun. We would like to do it again. Please let me know if its too late to sign up as I know we are less then 4 months out.

Hope to get to know every1 a little more. Also it would be great to set up a meet or a few meets. Last year we didnt get to really meet any of the DISers.

Also any1 have travel plans solidified yet? We are planning on flying or taking the auto train in the day before and then leave a few days after.

Now Im going back to reading the rest of this thread!!

:)
:)

Welcome to the cruise! I will be organizing the FE this trip. If you want to try to send me a personal message I will make sure that I can receive it (because I'm new to the discussion board).

:welcome: Welcome, and thanks for signing up on the cruiser list on our website!

Also, thank you for posting a "Meet" on the site. If you would like to add or change the details, just let me (taswira) know and I'll do that for you, as I am the only one who can edit the site.

A meet & greet is a great idea, but you MIGHT have difficulty if it's on a "day at sea after breakfast." The first day at sea after guests dine at Animator's Palate, they will have their Character Breakfast. Some have it early, others late. Still others may be having Palo Brunch, which starts as early as 10. It could be difficult to choose an after breakfast meet time that will work for a lot of people on a day at sea.

My sister will soon join in this chat. She has a 5 1/2 year old boy that would love a friend. He will be among 3 older girls! We won't put the kids in the clubs all day either so I'm sure we could organize pool-side meets!

Done! :)

Hali,

That would be great! My son gets really sick of his 2 sisters:) lol

The kids do go to the clubs but def not for the whole day. & we usually do the dine & play. but they love the pools so most def we can meet up there!

The next few months r going to fly by!

Have to start planning my FE gifts!

The only set-in-stone barrier would be those with late Palo Brunch. You will definitely need to set actual times for the meets and not "after" something, since everyone has different schedules.

But as you mentioned previously, perhaps multiple meets on different days and times? It does seem that after the first day, many people get wrapped up in their own agendas and forget about meet-ups. A most common meet-up day and time has been 3 p.m. on embarkation day, but I guess for the Dream a lot of people might head for the AquaDuck! ;)

For me, sea days are the busiest - - character dining, brunch, high tea, CC reception, etc.

My experience so far has been tha, on our last cruise we had a meet on embarkation day and every1 was running around trying to get situated that hardly any1 showed up. and that was our only meet really scheduled.

I will put a time up after I guess more ppl on here respond back with what they think will work better. Mb I can do it after breakfast on costa maya day. like 9/10am. Since from what I read on the thread many ppl rnt going to be running to get off as the time is so short to actually do anything.

Poolside meets would be great if the crowds rnt too crazy! or maybe even a breakfast meet at 1 of the restaurants since they rnt too bz in the mornings.

Also I was thinking, mb on embarkation day we could wear something lime green, like a ribbon on our arm and that would be a great way to meet the Disers on the cruise that day.

Welcome!

On our last cruise we had a meet set for every day (after embarkation day) at 4:00 in the promenade lounge and whoever could make it could get together. There is just no way of making it work for everyone at one time, but the set times at the same place really made it easy if we were available. Just another option that may help out.:)
