Fantasy Surf & Turf: Day 8 - At Sea

It was another late one today as we didn't get up until about 8:45. We went up to Cabanas as usual but I didn't eat anything, just had a glass of apple juice.

After breakfast we went to sit down on deck 3. While we were down there the Princess Gathering started.

Then at 11:30 we went to the Buena Vista Theatre for a repeat of the Ducky Williams presentation. We came close to winning a sketch this time but still no luck, although I did get him to sign a postcard as a present for a friend of mine.

After the presentation we had a look around the shops and bought a few bits we had been eyeing up over the past week.

We dropped the shopping off and then went upstairs for lunch - I had a hamburger and Dad had a sandwich and then we went our separate ways. Dad went back downstairs to read and I just wandered aimlessly taking various photos.

This is one of the pieces of ‘Enchanted Art’ on the ship. It looks like a normal picture but it has a sensor that detects when people are in front of it and something magical happens.

As I went past the gallery I noticed that they were open and had prints of the picture that I had admired on the first day for $40 (not bad considering the original was $3,850) so I went and got Dad to show him and we bought one.

We then went our separate ways again and at 4:20 I went back to the cabin to relax for a while before tonight's show.

The show tonight was an evening with Steven Schwartz, writer and composer of songs in Disney musicals like Hunchback of Notre Dame and Enchanted, and Lea Salonga, singing voice of Princess Jasmine and Mulan. As we were waiting for the show to start Lesley and Nicole from our dinner table came and sat next to us, then a while later Susan and Julie came along as well - it was totally unplanned and what are the chances of that happening!

After the show I just about managed to get a picture of the sunset and by the time I had walked the length of the deck it had disappeared completely.

We went down to La Piazza for our usual pre-dinner drinks then it was back to Animators Palate for the all new animation show. When you get to your seat there is a sheet there for you to draw your character on.

The drawings are then taken away for the magic to be done to place them in the show. On the menu the appetizers and soup/salads are set but there is a choice of main course.

As we were eating there were various animation scenes being played and then once it got to the main course all of drawings were shown.

This is an absolutely fantastic show, unlike anything I have seen before and it is worth booking a cruise on the Fantasy for that show alone. At the end of the show all of the drawings are given back with a seal added.

After dinner it was back to La Piazza and then I went upstairs to get some photos of the deck all lit up.

When I got back to the stateroom there was another present from Disney. This was a little booklet with pictures from the shows we had seen during the week and autographs from the various entertainers.

I was in bed just after midnight ready for our first ever visit to Castaway Cay tomorrow.

Disney really went to town on this boat, it's really beautiful. I am so tempted to book a trip on the Fantasy right now after reading your reports! I am loving all the gifts that you guys received. Did everybody receive them?

Wow, she certainly is beautiful David. A lovely, relaxing sea day. The decks looke d alittle more crowded in some of your pictures but still not as bad as I imagined it would be.

Love that you managed to get a print of that oil painting you liked - can't believe how expensive the original was though.

When I saw the original it was a real "Ooh. Aah" moment Joh. "Ooh that's nice. Aah not at that price it isn't!".

Oh my, an evening with Steven Schwartz and Lea Salonga - I am so green with envy ..... and as for the Enchanted Art - I think I'd start blubbing if I stood in front of one of those!

The show in Animator's Palate looks AMAZING - I loved the one on the Wonder and didn't think I liked the look of this one but I've changed my mind now!

Sorry, I don't do food porn - comes from having a Mum who believed that you ate your food at the table and that was it. We don't really get that many photos of ourselves taken any more either.
