Fantasy sailings being cancelled due to dry dock

I booked it as well as the merrytime afterwards. Happy I got the same accessible room for both. Irony: that 5n is more expensive than that TA
Happy it worked out for you, disappointed we won't be sailing with you. Your post about potentially rough sailing is part of the reason we decided not to re -book. Hopefully will see you on the WBPC. :)

Just checked and a lot more cabins have become available. I guess it looks better not to have an entire ship to choose from. I did change cabins. FWIW, the cruise I booked that was cancelled was $6470. So I'm saving $2500 not even counting the 20% and the placeholder. Maybe it's because it's the first day it's being offered???
We booked both the 2024 & 2025 WBTAs opening week, and neither went up between then & PIF, and discounted rates were offered after that.
Our guess is that the great rates are partially to make up for the cancelled cruise, but mainly because DCL is going to have a harder time filling the ship in Nov. due to school schedules & weather.

I was online right at 7am and there weren’t a lot of cabins available. I am SURE they aren’t all sold. DCL is releasing cabins a few at a time. The only Family verandas available were on Deck 6. I am going to keep checking back. Sounds like you got a good one, even if not your original one. I did this cruise just this past November and the weather was really great! A little rocky the first full day, but that’s it. Pretty mild, too!
DCL always shows a limited number of available rooms online, per section/category - thinking it's 16 now. If it shows the full 16, most likely there's more available, and you can find out by calling.

Sad to miss out on the great new fares for the new WBTA itinerary but the dates just don't work for us. But we're now officially booked on the 10/24 Southern Caribbean on the Magic! The discounts brought it to nearly what I had paid towards the cancelled cruises so it almost feels like it's "free" because of the refund, lol.

We're hoping to try for the WBTA again next year since I will have that other 20% burning a hole in my pocket (along with a new placeholder from this upcoming cruise), so maybe we'll see some of you then!

Yeah my friend is not sure whether she is joining cause of the rougher seas…
Panama will depend cause for our schedule a fall one would work better… but if for whatever reason this is the only one, then thats what we re gonna do

It'll be interesting to see what the Wonder & Magic do for Fall. Personally hoping for another Dec. Merrytime EBPC, but know that's not likely.

I am pretty sure it is so cheap due to the weather. The WBTA are usually in September, so no school holidays anyway. Last year it was later due to dry dock and even though it fell during some school holidays, there were still GTY’s available for months. If I didn’t already have plans, I would have booked this one being so cheap. But it’s not going to be a pleasant one weatherwise…

I was on the 2024 WB Trans Atlantic. Oct 20 to Nov 3. Weather was great! A little overcast in the Azores but that was it. I was surprised.

It is not unusual to have south routed transatlantic cruises in late October and November

The crew does a great job with a full list of activities. The Cooking Class is very very popular. You get a sample and wine, plus you get to watch a visiting chef cook the item. A paper recipe sheet is handed out as well.

The thing is, if you are signing up for this cruise, chances are you are the type of 'sailor' who ENJOYS sea days. Some people prefer port days. Sea days are generally more laid back, particularly on such a long cruise. It can be quite relaxing.

What are the activities like on a TA on DCL? That is a lot of sea days to fill.
There are a lot of special activities that are only offered on the longer cruises - like Officer Hide & Seek, Boat Building Bash, dance classes, group character photos. Even "regular" activities like trivia offer a wider variety.

I only just now noticed that the Itinerary for the TransAtlantic in November has changed the port stops - La Coruna, Spain; Vigo, Spain and Funchal (Madeira) Portugal (instead of the Azores). I am happy just to be on the ship but have to say the port stops are less than inspiring. Seven Sea Days in a row. ❤️
