Fantasy Holiday Cruise 12/21/13

Hi!

I posted here already (I think) I just went to the last page---anyway--as far as the FE goes, for our upcoming October 7 night cruise we capped each FE group at 20 cabins for the FE but some people, including me:) are giving FE gifts to all of the cabins! I don't mind---I've delivered to over 120 cabins and made nametags for hundreds of DISers:) I just want everyone to have fun! Our cut-off date for signing up is August 6th for the October 6th cruise---so 2 months before the cruise for a cut-off would work I think so that would put us at October 21st. How does that sound?

Also, would there be any interest in having a Secret Mickey exchange? I wouldn't mind running it.

Susan

We are new to Disney cruising as this will be our second cruise. I didn't even know about FE's until we saw them onboard our first cruise and I had to do some research when we got back home to find out what these great little "mail slots" were all about. So as you can imagine, I'm not sure how the Secret Mickey exchange works either.:confused3 Would you mind explaining?

I know that some won't mind doing that many FE's and given time I am sure we can as well. You mentioned Secret Mickey Exchange, what is that?

Hi! One person (that would be me:-) sends out a list of questions: what is your favorite? Disney character, color, candy/food/drink, sports team etc...any food allergies, what are your hobbies and so on, then my dear husband Tom starts a chain of who gives to whom (he does this since I like to participate) and kids usually give to other kids too, and you make/purchase a gift or 2 (keeping a limit of under $10 or $15) and deliver it to the person's cabin---you can leave it in their FE (if they have one), on their Fish by their door or give it to the cabin steward to leave inside the cabin with a note saying to whom it is for (more than one person in a cabin may be participating---people participate as individuals) and that it is from their Secret Mickey. Then before the end of the cruise, you leave a card (since it is during Christmas, a Christmas or other Holiday card) revealing your Disboard name, real name, and cabin number so the person can then leave a Thank You note of they so choose. It is just something extra and fun to participate in---no FE required! A few people can participate or a lot of people can participate---there will be a cut-off date so people have time to shop for the gift---I'll keep advertising this as we get closer to our cruise date.

If you all have any other questions---just let me know:)

Susan

P.S. I've already started shopping for FE gift-making stuff for this cruise---I sure like to plan ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to participate in FE too! We've done it for our past 2 cruises and loved it! I think limiting it to around 30-50 is a good idea. We will be traveling around the US for about 6 weeks so would be grateful to have less to carry to and from Australia!

Should we consider starting a new thread? It appears the poster who started the thread is no longer on this cruise. This means we can't update the first post with relevant information eg roll calls, FE info, links etc

What is the difference between the FE list and the Secret Mickey list?

This one has kept going, despite it's originator canceling.

I think this one should stay active also. Let's use the other one just for FE business and use this one for everything else. Maybe sharing excursion ideas, lodging tips and other cruise info. There may be people going on the cruise who don't want to do FE.

OK, new thread now created (within the Cruise Meets folder). Called "December 21, 2013--Fantasy--FE Business!"
Yes, I (personally) agree we'll want to create subgroups if things get too big - don't think anyone would want to worry about 100 cabins during such a busy holiday time!! Seems like 15-30 cabins could be "manageable" ??

Thanks Pam for setting up the new link, and here is the thread for everyone to follow:

Just got off the Fantasy Yesterday! Due to Hurricane Ernesto, DCL changed our intinerary to the Eastern Caribbean. It was a fabulous cruise, but we want to sail the Western Caribbean. So we booked this cruise on board. There will be 7 of us in three staterooms. This will be our second holiday cruise, and our 8th Disney cruise:-)
Talk to you all soon:-)

I would ask what you thought of the Fantasy but since you booked again I would guess you loved it! :goodvibes

I'm glad to see another 14 yo boy in our group. My DS will be 14 at the time of sailing as well.

Looking forward to getting to know you, and everyone, over the next year!:thumbsup2

Iceman Pad,

I have just added you to the FE spreadsheet we have on the other page. If you are celebrating any special occasion please let me know. Also if you have your cabin number??

If there is anyone either from FL, or who has stayed near the Port prior to sailing that could give us hotel recommendation that would be great! I know that we are probably not the only ones coming in with this same predicament.

Thanks!

Hi Becky-

We have stayed at most of the hotels near the port over the years. Our favorites are the Residence Inn, the Hampton Inn and the Sheraton Four Points. The Radisson, Best Western and Quality Inn/Suites are also fine if the price is right. My DH and DS did not like the Country Inn and Suites-they claimed that the beds were not comfortable. I thought that the hotel was nice, clean and convenient.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Lisa
