Fantasy February 16, 2013 - 7 Night Western Cruise Meet

Hey Silmarg;

Yep, it's the same AVP you're thinking about! There's 4 of us from MousePlanet going on this cruise. Steph takes care of our weekly email newsletter (she does a great job; you should sign up!), Tony is our main tech guy, I copy edit (I don't write nearly so much these days but I do review smartphone apps once a month) and AVP basically does everything else, it seems like! lol.

I have listened to the mouseplanet podcast for years. In fact I was a guest on the show once describing DCL specialty cruises (namely the 2008 eastbound Panama Canal cruise)

Hope everyone on the East Coast are safe and dry. Lucky here for now it's just a light rain, but very windy. Have two trees down on our street (in the road), but the power is still on. STAY SAFE

As predicted, I lost power. Prob 75% of the folks around here have no power. Luckily my neighbor has power and offered a few extension cords so I have a fridge. Hot water and tv. So other than heat we r fine.

We have many homes around here w significant damage related to fallen trees. I have seem at least $10million in damage in my small village.

As predicted, I lost power. Prob 75% of the folks around here have no power. Luckily my neighbor has power and offered a few extension cords so I have a fridge. Hot water and tv. So other than heat we r fine.

We have many homes around here w significant damage related to fallen trees. I have seem at least $10million in damage in my small village.

So, sorry to here that - we got away easy this time- we didn't lose power and only a few trees came down - most that where damage from the 2011 snow strom, we lost power for 7 days that time. So, we feel luck this time around.

I got my power back today by a stroke of luck.

We lost power but i sit at the end of an electrical grid and my next door neighbor had power. So with a few extension cords I had hot water, fridge, TV and internet - all the essentials except heat. So over all it was not horrible.

Tonight I saw some flashing lights out front and it was Con Ed (utility trucks). they were looking to "assess" my neighborhood. I showed them the trees that hit into key lines, which transformers blew, etc. they asked which houses did not have power. I showed them how my electric being on the right side of the pole was on a separate grid then my neighbor who pulls of the left side of the pole. They guys then said, that is an easy fix. They called for a bucket truck and moved my service to the left side of the pole. "that was easy".

The rest of my neighbors wont be happy as they crew said it may be a week before all the details of their assessment turn into results...

Only one cabana left to book, but hubby said he didn't want to book it
Checked again this morning and of course it was already booked

Has anyone done the Xplor Park?? Thoughts?? It looks like FUN - but that could be all in the advertisement.

Wow, what a week. We book this cruise, and then the devastation of Sandy hits us and the surrounding NJ/NY area. It's hard to get excited after seeing what I've seen the past few days.

Cruising will be myself (Jim,37), DW (Jean, 37) and DD (Jenny,11) otherwise known as the Three J's. It will be our 4th Disney cruise, and our first on the newer ships. We've decided to drive down from NJ since plane fares are close to insane due to the holiday. We did, however book a night at BLT, to take advantage of the day prior at WDW.

On a lighter note, the cruise rep did ask if we like people from Jersey, so I guess it will feel like home in the middle of the Carribean.

Looking forward to cruising with you all.

Paid off last week,finally!Palo's will taste so much better after eating Ramon noodles for the forseeable future.
We were surprised when DCL told us REMYS dining comes with your own
personal butler.lol We would just have him join us for cocktails,DIS would probably frown upon him staggering around the ship.So we passed on that we have to keep this va cay real.
Anyways hope things are getting better for our East Coast neighbors affected
during the past week.

Really looking forward to a Fun Cruise,see ya soon!

Welcome FREEZIN and family! We are also in RI, in Narragansett. Hope you fared well with the storm last week. We are not new to cruising, but new to DCL and are very excited! I booked last January and have managed to keep it a secret from DS who will turn 6 the day before we cruise.

That is an awesome Birthday for sure,he is going to have a blast!
Our sons love the Dis cruises,I think this will be our 8th (I think).
Our youngest is also Matthew and our oldest is Nicholas.
We took a ride down Gansett on Saturday to see the Coast Guard House.
They really got wholloped but good,although I have a sneakin suspicion Judge Caprio can afford the renovations.

It'll be nice to have some fellow Rhody's on board.
