Fantasy fans: April 7, 2012

Christopher, Kaddismum and Jojo - Will you all still be checking the Disboards while you are cruising/visiting DW? It would be great to get updates from you about the Dream, the MV on the Fantasy and the World! I hope we hear from you! If not, safe travels to the U.S. and we will be seeing you in three weeks!!!!

I called DCL to inquire about a few things. I found out that there will be no character breakfast on the cruises in April. Bummer! I was told that Sunday is formal night, Wednesday is Pirate night and Thursday was semi-formal night. (That is the same as last time we cruised but I wanted to make sure.) I called a few weeks ago and got our dining rotation because I wanted a nice restaurant for Easter Sunday. We will be in the Royal Court for Easter. I also found out that they will be offering the following movies in 3D (they said some of these will be playing) - Toy Story 3, Tangled, Cars 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean 4, On Stranger Tides, and the following may be offered not in 3D, The Help, Real Steel, The Muppet Movie, War Horse and John Carter. Pretty good choices...I hope they play them all!

I am curious if my DD will be given a hard time because she is 18 and too "old" for the teen club. She is a senior in high school, not in college. If they allow 17 year old high school seniors in the club, I hope they don't discriminate just because she turned 18 during her senior year. I am not going to worry about it and hope for the best. I don't want her in the adult clubs while her friends are at the Vibe.

Ok, that's it for now. 21 days and counting.....

Thats a great idea (keeping in touch whist " doing disney ") I certainly will try to.

Thank you so much for the heads up on what is happening on the ship. This will help me to organize myself (& everyon else).

It must be difficult for those aged between 18-20. In Australia the legal drinking age is 18 so we dont have to worry about such things, but with you & your family it must be a strange age. You are an adult, but not old enough to drink or gamble. I'm sure they will be accomodating in the Vibe. On our last cruise our DS was 12 & because his cousin was 14 they let our son go there with him. Good luck with it

I contacted my travel agent to find our dining reservation too. It would be great to have Formal Night-Easter Dinner at the Royal Court.

Hi Christopher, we are going to HDD on Fri 30th March! That is our wedding Anniversary. I'm not sure of the time off hand.

We are staying at the Coronardo Springs Resort. The pool looks fabulous! There are 40 of us travelling over together. My sister & I run a dance studio here & are bringing 20 of the children over to perform at Downtown Disney on Monay 2nd April. There are another 2 families doing the cruise as well, while others have decided to go off to New York or Hawaii etc. after their 9 days at DW.

Last time we came over we stayed at the Dolphin Resort. It was great. But this was where our travel agent booked us in to this time, but we are happy to go with the flow.

We did do one of the shopping outlets last time, so we will probably do another again.

Oh the Coronado Spring is a a beautiful resort. And yes the pool is a wonderful spot to hang out. I would much prefer to stay there than to stay at the Dolphin if I were with a large group.

You are going to love the Hoop Dee Doo. I have been at least 15 times and it never gets less enjoyable.

Yes, I do intend to check in here periodically the week before. I want to still be a part of all your excitement and am happy to share the goings on of the Dream....might even be able to confirm some of the movies that seem to be on offer on the ship.

Though the internet is a bit pricy on the ships so I won't be as in touch as I am when I am at home.

Hmmmm...... I may just need to call and check my dining rotations. I did not realize that this was possible. Did they give you your table assignment as well?

Not long at all now!!!!!!

Hmm don't normally use the Internet while I am away but that's because I have never really had a good phone that can access, I don't take a laptop away and can't be bothered with the Internet cafe. BUT this time round I have my IPad, so that may all change. So I may well post occasionally, maybe from ports that have free wifi cafe but it certainly won't be as often as I can update from home.

It's Mother's Day here today so I am taking it easy and chilling out with the children before I go visit my Mum, but after today I am will be in FE and packing mode, just a little bit of shopping left to do at the weekend and I think I am all set. I so need this break to just catch up with myself and of course with DH, he works so hard and is often away from home for work that it will be nice to have him captive for a while LOL:rotfl2:

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the MOTHERS out there:love:

You are going to love the Hoop Dee Doo. I have been at least 15 times and it never gets less enjoyable.

Yes I am looking forward to HDD. My sister & I performed in Theatre Restaurants (I think you call them Dinner theatre ???) here for 2 yrs (in our slim trim & beautiful days!!!) so we love anything a bit theatrical! As a matter of fact I have just come home from final dress rehearsal for the musical "Chess". I am resident choreographer for the theatre company here, & the show opens Tuesday night. So I have been crazy busy with the show, the dance studio, moved house 2 weeks ago, & running around 3 kids!!1 I am SOOOOOO looking forward to this cruise!!!!!:yay:

Happy mothers day JoJo

I called DCL yesterday and was told dining rotations not available until a day or 2 before sailing. The person I spoke with did ask if I had a preference and so I told her Royal Court for Easter/1st formal night. She sair she would add notation to special requests for rotation 3. Quess it doesn't really matter though. Just seem to want to know everything before sailing!!! Not too anxious or anything. We agree, Hoop Dee Doo never fails to amze us with laughter!
Melody

Happy Mother's Day JoJo! Sorry I missed seeing your post yesterday to tell you ;)

Thanks, Melody, for confirming the dining rotation info with DCL. I was under the impression that they didn't do dining rotations until a couple weeks in advance, so I think I will also call and ask for the Royal Court for formal night. I think you said that was rotation 3. Hopefully we will get it! We have always been lucky to get Lumiere on the Magic for formal nights on our other cruises...actually we got lucky the first time and then I asked for it the others!

Last week of this particular class session I am teaching. I then have a whole week off and I plan to really work to get everything done because I then go back to class the following week. I will be missing a week of class for this cruise, which I really hate doing, but we booked this cruise almost a year before I got my teaching job so they understood. Thankfully we have a lot of online resources and I am making lessons for my students to use those lectures and my handouts to create their notes and do more practice. It will give them an opportunity to hone their notetaking skills & time management skills, and will help them to be independent learners.

I called DCL yesterday to pre-pay my gratuities so I did not have that part lingering over me during the week. While talking to the DCL rep, I asked her about the dining rotation assignments and if they were assigned yet. She told me that this information is not given out until you check in on embarkation day. She was able to give the expected rotations but not confirm if/what one had been assigned.

So not sure if larger groups are handled differently than individual cabins, but the mystery remains for me until arriving at the pier on April 7.

This is the same for us. Actually, I never even thought to ask at check-in. I always just checked the dining tickets in the cabin when we got there. I have been told they do table assignments a couple weeks out, and the only way I knew that was when we wanted to link our dining to another family traveling with us. I have called in advance and requested a specific rotation and have been fortunate enough to get it. :thumbsup2

Ooops....I'm sorry about the dining rotation situation. They may assign large parties because when we last cruised three years ago, we found out our rotation a few weeks in advance. We had five families linked together. This time we have twelve in our party. The dining rotation we were told was... 1. Enchanted Garden 2. Royal Court 3. Animator's Palate. With my luck this will all change once we board. I have not been told our table number though!

Happy Mother's Day, Jojo. I hope it was a good day!

Table rotation is also printed on your Key to the World Card.

For example I am looking at my most recent card for a 4 Night on the Dream and it says Dinner: 6:00 PM-AERR Table: 31

So before you even board you can see your information. A= Animators Palate E= Enchanted Garden and R = Royal Palace SO will likely be the same for Royal Court.

The rotation for the 7 night cruises seem to have a couple variations on their rotations so it will be interesting to see what happens. I have seen the following: 1231231 and 1233123 BUT both of those rotations people said that Pirate night was on night 4 and ours in night 5. So the mystery continues......but it is nice to have some things that we can't know until the last minute....at least my opinion.

It's very quiet again! I don't really have anything special to say, so I just thought I'd say good morning! Those of you doing B2B you must be getting very excited! For the rest of us, we have just 17 days to go!!!

We also got free tix to KSC! I'd say that it would fun to catch up and say hi if we're there at the same time, but I'd have a hard time explaining that to my DD since she won't know we are going on the cruise until the next day!

I'm so excited about going to KSC. Have you been before? We haven't...it will be a new adventure.

It would be hard for us too, our Daughter's are finding out the next day also!! Can't wait to get rid of this secret...LOL We have never been to KSC before so excited to see what it has to offer. We fly out in 13 days so I cant wait!

Hi everyone, we are getting really excited now.

DSs & DD are counting the school days left until we fly out. They all have school athletics tomorrow (I stipulated NO INJURIES!!!) & then Friday DD has the day off as it is packing day for their school camps. Then next week is Camps Week for the whole school, so they all get next week off as we fly out Thursday, right in the middle of the camps.

We had to get permission from the Headmaster for the children to miss school (3 weeks all up plus 2 weeks of term 1 school holidays). So there is really only tomorrow left of school, & Friday for the boys. DH also finishes work on Friday, as he has taken long service leave for the trip. Unfortunately I am working right up until the day before we leave, but we have to get up at 4.30 am to do the 2hr drive down to the airport!

WDW & DF here we come!!!

Hi gang!!

I am still around. I have just been facing a challenging week.

Godfather passed away last Wednesday and I was not able to attend the service which was Monday. Then I had a parent of my students pass on Thursday. That service was yesterday and it was very emotional.

But my cruises are keeping me going!!!

I just finished creating the FE and Magnet exchange map for all the participants. Printed and ready to bring along.

Next, I will put together a lounge rotation to share. I did one for my Dream sailing so I will just adapt it for us.

Disappointing to hear there will not be a character breakfast for our sailing.:confused3 I was looking forward to that extra for the 7 night trip.

I am down to 10 days on my countdown until I leave!!!! Can't wait.

Christopher, I am so sorry for all of your losses. I am sure this has been an awful week! Yes, keep in mind your glorious vacation coming up!!! I too, was really disappointed about the character breakfast. I hope they will have another great surprise for us instead!

We are breaking out the suitcases tonight! We are packing up all the new clothes and bathing suits. I have designated our playroom for all things Disney Cruise! I found all of our pirate stuff, mickey/minnie ears, pretend swords and guns (purchased at Disney World), bandanas from the last cruise, Belle dress ups, Jasmine dress ups and tiaras (yes, one is mine...). I have the snorkeling gear out, cleaned out my boat bag and repacking it with goggles, sunglasses, sunscreen, cover ups, bandaids, lip balm and BABY POWDER!!! Have you heard how priceless baby powder is at the beach? We use it to remove sand anywhere and it helps prevent chaffing when walking to and from the ship at Castaway Cay. Last time we sailed, folks saw us at Castaway Cay with baby powder and they were putting their hands out hoping I would share! Of course, I did! We never travel without it!

We have stopped counting down until the cruise! We now are counting down from when we actually get to leave our house on Thursday!!! Can't wait!!!

And p.s. - I will have our boat bag with me at the terminal. It is a Land's End big cream-colored bag trimmed in purple (favorite color, gone wrong....I have purple everything!) and it has our last name embroidered on it. If you see it, please come say hello!!! I think our names are listed somewhere here, but our last name starts with the first three letters of my disboard name.

Hi Christopher, I too am sorry for your losses this week. That is hard. My grandmother passed away in early February so there was a period of time I was not on the DISboards much either. She would have been 94 this June, so she had a long and wonderful life. Up till the end she was pretty much living on her own but had taken a fall that she never recovered from. I miss her so much, but I am blessed that my DD had the opportunity to know her great-grandmother, or Great Nana as we would call her. I know not everyone gets the chance to know a great-grandparent.

I am finishing up another short session at school tomorrow and have next week off. So aside from some tutoring and a little prep work for the next short session that begins the following week, I am all about cruise packing! It's really my last chance without DD around to do it. I hope to be all packed by the end of next week so I can just work M-Th the following week and head out the door without any last minute chaos.

Had2DisneyCruz, I'm going to try to remember the baby powder in my suitcase. What a great idea! It's amazing how much I have learned on the DISboards about so many things!!!

Christopher, so sorry to hear your news. A tough week indeed.

We start the packing at the weekend...I say we, I mean me:rotfl2:. I have the rest of this week at work and then right unto Thursday at 3.30pm:banana:, but in-between now and then I am busy busy.
Weekend, my DS has a Beavers swim gala and fun session , I need to do last bits of shopping...magnet paper, sandals for DD, sunscreen. I work as a teachers assistant in a primary so I finish work at 3.30 everyday but m day doesn't end there. Monday My DD has a friend home for tea, Tuesday we have our 6month check up the dentist and then DS has beavers, Wednesday I have an afterwork meeting that may lead to further training for my work and both children have school discos, one after the other! Thursday (last working day) is a sad day as we say farewell to a collegue who is retiring and then in the evening DD has guides! I also have to complete the packing, do the housework finish the FE and magnets, get the dogs to the kennels and breathe :lmao:

I shall need the 9hr flight over just to catch up with myself:rotfl2:
