Fantasy fans: April 7, 2012

Only 29 days away - So excited! Got my cruise documents last week. Any other single parents in this group? My DD12 is going to be at the tween club most of the time, so I might need some companions to visit all of the bars on the ship

Not a parent but am traveling alone. So bar visits sound great to me! :thumbsup2

I HAVE NOW CLOSED THE FE AND MAGNET EXCHANGE SIGN UPS

The FE list that I sent via PM to the participants is correct with the addition of Chief71 and a final confirmation of stateroom for amoybaci. So please watch your PM for a final list. If you have a stateroom change between now and the sailing or upgrade when arriving at the pier, please let me know as soon as you can so that I can share the information with the rest of the group.

Magnet exchange lists will also be sent by PM this evening.

I am working on a deck map with the cabins marked on them to make it easy for everyone to navigate their way from room to room for the exchanges. I will bring those by your rooms early on Saturday the 7th.

Less than a month now!!!

Christopher

All lists have been sent via PM. Please check your messages so that you have all the info.

Had2disneycruz, thanks for the bday wishes for my DD! We had a GREAT time at the GWL. The girls played for about 2 1/2 hours last night till closing time and then we were back at it around 9:30 this morning until 2 pm! I think they would have stayed until closing tonight had I let them. Their favorite ride was the Howling Tornado - do they have that one at your location in VA? The girls called it the "toilet bowl!" Ha ha...They were such a good group of girls that it was really a pleasure to take them. No drama with these girls, thank goodness...that junk seems to really get ramped up in 4th grade - ugh. Anyhow, my DD came home and fell asleep on the couch and the other moms have said that their girls are wiped out too.

Christopher, thank you so much for taking care of the roll call, FE list, and magnet exchange list. Also, for making a map for us! What a tremendous help that will be...especially for those of us who have only sailed on the Magic and / or Wonder. THANK YOU!

I cannot believe it is only 29 days until we leave! These last few weeks are really going to fly by. I just hope April 7th - 14th doesn't fly by....I want that week to go slooowly so I can savor every minute on the ship!

DH and I need to take inventory of our clothing situation. We've been picking up things here and there but it's time to make a list and get those things that we still need. Something tells me we'll be in a mall somewhere tomorrow.

I really need to see if my in-laws would like to have their granddaughter come visit for a weekend so DH and I can pull out all the suitcases and start packing!

I received my Passport Renewal on Friday. DW was getting worried since we were inside 30 days for the cruise but now we all will be official. More good news about our taxes and I was having a really great Friday until my beloved Dayton Flyers lost by 1 point to arch-rival Xavier Musketeers in the A10 tournament. Bounced back today with more shopping with DW and DD (12) -- I was the one carrying all the bags.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Wow, I would have been worried about the passport, too...whew, glad that came for you! One less thing on the list to think about, right?

We also went shopping yesterday. The goal was to get DH a couple things, but instead I got some stuff! As it should be - ha ha! DD is set other than some sandals. I bought her a bunch of new stuff recently and will probably start washing, ironing, and packing some of it in bags this week. What I have done on prior cruises is to put outfits in individual bags. The clothes pack easier, don't wrinkle, and then DD only has to pull out a bag to get dressed each day. She's definitely got more of an opinion on what she wears now than she did a couple years ago, so we'll see if that still works! Considering she did pick out the clothes herself (I just told her there were lots of sales and we needed to shop early for our spring / summer stuff...she doesn't know about the cruise), I'm hoping she'll go for the "pre-determined" ensembles!

Have a great day! :goodvibes

XU alum here what didn't watch the game, saw it was a close one though!

After a crazy run around with Disney and Costco travel, we have finally gotten our stateroom figured out. Disney had so wonderfully upgraded us to a wonderfully large room with veranda but I was terrified to have my two little ones out there so it would go to waste. When I called to switch our rooms back, they said all of the rooms without verandas were already sold! In true Disney fashion, they straightened it out for us and we will be in one of the rooms with double porthole windows! I am excited to see it and my children, who have fought over the window seat during past cruises, will be in their glory!

We haven't started packing yet because we have done a bit of travelling over here. I did the Princess 1/2 marathon a couple weeks ago (It was amazing!) and we are headed down to Disney on Wednesday for our rescheduled annual December trip. It will be a whole lot of Disney but we aren't complaining!

Hi all, my DH (Frank) and I (Nancy) will also be on this sailing. We're a little late getting on the DIS boards. We are taking my mother to celebrate her 80th birthday and our daughters will also be with us.
We are all big Disney fans and can't wait for the cruise. Frank and I were on a Disney Med cruise in 2010 and we had the best time.
We'll be driving down from Delaware Friday and probably stopping overnight in Jacksonville. Has anyone used the parking at the port before?

Lauren, we also booked through Costco Travel and unfortunately I have been disputing our room assignment for the last 3 weeks. We specifically booked a category with a split bath and 2 of our cabins have it and one does not.
Also, when I booked the 3 cabins a year ago I asked that they be close together since we had a GTY reservation. Well, the 3 cabins ended up on 3 different decks. This is so unlike Disney. But we are not going to let it ruin our excitement. :yay: We are counting down the days!!!

We are flying in on Friday staying at the Hyatt at the airport and taking Disney Transport Saturday morning. Felt this was the least stressful for us all. Our return flight has been changed to 5:15 departure! Just awhile at the airport. UGH! Thinking of checking out day rates at the hotel there to waste a few hrs at the pool.
WorkingMom, our grandaughter just turned 13 and will be looking for a friend at the 'tween club too. Hope she likes the unstructured parts of it. She has only had the days planned for her in kid's club before.
Christopher, hope your flying is smooth and not bothered by weather! You have done a super job keeping all this together.

Hi! Welcome to the group! Just wanted to reply to your question about parking at the port to say that we have done it everytime we've sailed with DCL. The last time it was $15 per day so it's pricey, but we really like the ease of getting off the ship, having a porter grab our bags and take them directly to our car, and then getting on the road. Saving that little bit of time that would be spent trying to get back to the hotel to get our car is worth the expense (to us). I think the parking situation will be much different on this trip, though, in terms of the facility. Our last cruise was Christmas 2010 and the new parking garage was under construction. No doubt that is done and being used. Anyone been in the past several months who can comment further? Do you still check in at the gate like before? Once we were able to park on the same side as the terminal in the paved parking lot. That was awesome! Is that even possible anymore?

I have added you to the roll call list that is post #2 on the first page of the thread. If you wish to clarify or add any details let me know either here or via PM and I will gladly add you to the list.

I can confirm that the new garage is up and running and that there is still parking in the lot right next to the terminal. I imagine parking will be tight though with the Magic, the Dream, and the Fantasy all sailing out from the DCL terminal on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.....but I would think that this is being considered by DCL as well and will be handled accordingly. They must be dealing with this already in smaller numbers for preview cruises for the Fantasy while the Magic and Dream are sailing their normal itineraries. They just may be needing to use alternate parking locations....though this is speculation on my part.

Christopher

Thanks for the feedback on parking at the port.
Christopher, thanks for adding us to the roll call. I should add the names of the rest of our party. DM Ellen, DD Meghan (33), DD Stephanie (30) and
DF Alane (32). :)

@ Pinmeister - we're from Delaware, too! We are flying down Saturday morning as I am not brave enough to tackle that drive. It's great to know there's another Disney fanatic here in Delaware. We're in Wilmington, how about you?

So excited for this cruise! Went out today to get FE stuff to start working on them this weekend. Are there plans to meet once everyone is onboard on Saturday? I did this before and the group met at a bar on deck before the deck party.

Can't wait to meet everyone!

:cool1:Good afternoon everyone. I have just discovered this websight & forum. I know I am too late to sign up for anything but just wanted to say hi!! My DH, DS (15) DD (14) & DS (12) will be making this our 3rd Disney Cruise. We would love to do more, but living in Australia it is such a Loooooooooong way to catch the ship LOL.

We did a 7 night Western Carribean cruise in April 2007 on the Magic, the 11 night Mediterranian in April 2010, on the Magic & now this. We also did California Adventure & Disney World in 2007, & Hong Kong Disneyland in 2009. Unfortunaely it costs us as much in airfares to travel to the embarking ports as it does for the Cruises. But we LOVE Disney.

We fly out 2 weeks tomorrow for 9 days at Disney world before be board this cruise. It will take us a staggering 24 hrs to get there, as we fly to LA (14 hrs) then Dallas then Orlando, but it will be our first time in an A380 so at least the long haul will be a little more exciting!!!

I cant wait to see the Fantasy!! It looks so beautiful! Joining us on this cruise will also be my sister & her DS (17) & my Mum. They also did the Med cruise (their first), & we are already planning our next one for my sister & my 50th in 4 yrs LOL!!!

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi XXX Kaddismum:cheer2:

Hi Kaddismum! Welcome to the group! You definitely have a long way to travel to get to the cruise, but the ship is gorgeous and I'm sure it's going to be worth it! I hope you enjoy your pre-cruise stay at WDW. We haven't been to WDW in a couple years now. When we discovered cruising with Disney we had to choose one or the other, so we've done cruises the past few years. I am thinking we are overdue for a trip to 'The World' though, so we'll likely make our next Disney adventure. My DD is soon to be 10, so it will be a totally different experience for her than it was last time.

I noticed you have also been on an 11 night sailing. Our last DCL cruise was 11 nights over Christmas 2010. I wondered if it would be too long, but it was wonderful, wasn't it?! I hope I can do a B2B cruise someday and see what 14 days would be like! LOL!

Glad to have you as a part of us. I have added you to the roll call on Post #2 of the thread. If you wish to expand the information that I have put there, please let me know.

I understand the long journey to get to a Disney Cruise, though mine is not as far as yours. But I will concur that it is worth every moment of being squashed into a flying tin can to get to the Magic of a Disney Cruise.

Look forward to meeting you and your entire clan.

Christopher

Are there plans to meet once everyone is onboard on Saturday? I did this before and the group met at a bar on deck before the deck party.

Nothing has been finalized up until this point though interest to do so has surfaced a few times. Here is a suggestion:

Saturday 7 April
Group Meet 3 15 PM to 3 45 PM (pre muster drill)
Waves Bar on Deck 12 Aft

:umbrella: Rain Location is Deck 4 Starboard between Vista Café and the Future Cruise Desks

Does this sound good for everyone?

Christopher

Thank you for the lovely welcome ITFT & Christopher. Its so great to meet people who are as passionate about DCL as I am. Hardly anyone here in Aust. has even heard of Disney Cruises, & its just so hard to explain to people just how magical it really is!!! As a matter of fact our last cruise director (Magic 2010) was Brent who comes from a town about an hour away from where we live ( & as luck would have it he is also the CD for the Fantasy). We were the first people on Disney cruises that he had met in the 12 yrs he had worked on them, that even new where his home town was!!!

Yes ITFT , I LOVED the 11 night cruise! Of course you never want to get off a Disney Cruise so the longer I can be on board the better!!! We are doing a 36 night cruise in 2015 (unfortunately not Disney!!) but I am really looking forward to that too.

Christopher, isnt it amazing how Disney brings people together from all over the world. It has such a universal appeal. We havent been to Euro Disney yet ( on the todo list!!) & although I lived in Japan for a while, never quite made it to Tokyo Disney either (but then that was BC, Before Children!!).

Looking forward to meeting you all XXX

Welcome to the April 7th cruise. I hope you have safe travel with no airline delays. I know you will have a great time at the parks. We will be going back to Florida to visit the parks in June after my DD (16) & DD (12) finish school. Looking forward to meeting on the Fantasy but scared that my DD will start stalking your son or nephew with their captivating Australian accents.

Welcome to all the newcomers both far and near:cool1:

With regards to sailing 14 nights , it's bliss and just makes it harder to get off the ship at the end. We sailed B2B in the med in 2010, doing the repo cruise from Dover to barcelona which was 8 nights and then did the 11 night Barcelona round trip, so 19 nights on board was just heaven. we really got to know the cruise staff, from family/adult entertainers, kids crew and our wait staff who were the best. Even our room host was fab for the whole trip, a real family.:worship:

So of course B2B is the ONLY way for us now:thumbsup2

not long now...:woohoo:
