Hello Everyone,

I need some input from some DCL pros! Me and my fiance want to take a cruise for our honeymoon. We are looking at either an eastern Caribbean cruise on Fantasy or a southern Caribbean cruise on the Magic. We have been on the Magic twice already and have never been on the Fantasy. From just that information it sounds like an easy decision for the Fantasy, but what keeps the Magic in the running is it's amazing itinerary. Those southern Caribbean islands are breathtaking!

So i need input. Given our situation, which one would you do and why?

How long are the cruises? That's a factor for me, also. For me, I'd probably do the southern, since we haven't don that one.

But, in your position, it's really toss up - southern for the itinerary, or eastern for the ship you haven't been on yet. Do either of them have just one little point that gives them an edge for you? What about cost, or dates of the cruises, or if there's a difference in the number of ports? Does going to Castaway Cay make a difference (if on goes there and the other doesn't)? Check the possible excursions you might do, any of them stand out to you as "better" than the others? What itinerary is that on?

I would do the southern if it's a 7 night or longer. The Fantasy is going to continue the same itineraries for a while so you can do that anytime. But if the Magic is less than 7 nights I'd do the Fantasy.

Definitely the Southern! My husband and I went without kids this past January on the Wonder. We loved it! It was so romantic! The islands were all so unique and beautiful and we had so much fun doing adventurous things on all of the islands. We went kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, and sailing. We also really love our pre cruise stay in San Juan. I highly recommend Hotel Condado Vanderbilt (greeted with champagne at check in, amazing ocean views, and the brunch is amazing) and the old San Juan Food Tour. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the response! The dates of the cruises are a day apart. So that's not a factor. After purchasing flights to San Juan and doing more excursions because of more ports, the cost of both would be about the same. So most things are equal.

So we're really talking about itinerary vs. ship I suppose. In your opinion is the fantasy worth passing up the awesome Southern itinerary?

In my opinion, I'd probably opt for the southern itinerary. But, that's because I've been on the Fantasy, and haven't been on a southern cruise yet.

I would think that the Fantasy, which has more sea days would be nicer on a honeymoon, but if you're active people and the excursions look interesting, do the Magic. Just because this is your honeymoon doesn't mean it's your last chance to ever sail, does it? Do the other one for your next anniversary. :)

It's necessary to have a reason to cruise? Maybe I've been doing it wrong.:rotfl:

Eastern carribean cruises are not going anywhere. Southern carribean cruises out of San Juan doesn't sell that good. Probably be offered again but no guarantees.

The Fantasy will be more relaxing and the Magic will be more active. Depends on what you want for your honeymoon. The Southern Caribbean isn't offered very often but the Fantasy on eastern or western cruises will be a constant.

I did the Southern this year in January and it was the most awesome cruise ever. I would do it in a heartbeat again. I also recommend the Flavors of San Juan food tour if you do the Southern and fly in a few days early or stay a few days after.

(Very happy for the search function in this case!!)

I'm debating the same to itineraries for my Spring Break now - prices are pretty close to each other, so those points are equal.

I love the Fantasy - but as of this typing I have not been on the Magic (doing that in February).

I was in San Juan for a port day in 2016 and really left nothing there I need to go back for (IOW I was not impressed), so that is a drawback for me that I would need to spend a night or two there beforehand. (I refuse to fly the day of.) So that would make me lean to the Fantasy.

BUT...

I am one of those weird people who really doesn't like Star Wars. At all. If I hated, I would probably use that word. And of course every Fantasy cruise from Jan-April is Star Wars. On the plus side the available cabins are verandah ones, so I could just hang on my verandah all day when the silliness is going on. Just not excited about it being all over the place.

There is an option of doing a B2B on the Wonder... That would give me all four ships completed AND I would turn Gold at the end of the first cruise. But... I am also one of those weird people who doesn't like New Orleans stuff or food, so the thought of Tiana's twice (at least)... I guess that is the easiest option as I could just aim for trying to get a Palo dinner that night or do Cabanas assuming it was not night 1 or last.

Aargh! I hate decisions!!
