I am trying to decide if it is worth a bit of extra money to move up to deck 10. It's less than $100 difference between category 4A and 4B. We have only done one cruise on the Magic and I can't remember our deck (I'll go back and look) but I remember being pretty near the top and only having a couple level of stairs to get to everything on deck.

What is your strategy when picking a category and deck? What should I consider?

For our two cruises, one past, one upcoming, I have only booked 4A on deck 9. I have read too many stateroom reports about noise late into the night and early in the morning from people staying on deck 10. The pool and activities deck 11 is your ceiling when you are on deck 10. I am a light sleeper. The price difference between 4B and 4A is negligible.

Just my 2 cents...

I wondered if that was the reason I'm not seeing anything for 4A on deck 9. So my only choices are 4B on deck 8 or 4A on deck 10. We were right under the pool deck last cruise and I worried about what I was hearing regarding noise, etc. and it was a non-issue for us. However, the rooms I am seeing available right now on Deck 10 are under Cabanas, not the pool deck. I think that could be noisier?

I was on a Aug 2013 Dream cruise stateroom 10662 right below Cabana had no issues at in the morning with chairs from above. Nighttime there was no traffic in the hallways. I would say if you are light sleeper it may be different. Would I do it again in a New York minute for the balcony with 4 count them 2 chairs + 2 loungers to lay out on was worth it for sure.

Look at the layout of the Fantasy when reviewing possible room numbers. Under the spa area or Concierge rooms is great! Under Cabanas is next best.

Also, remember the very large overhang from deck 11. You will not get much direct sun, if you want direct sun you don't want deck 10.

Do you mean direct sun as in laying out on the veranda? Or do you mean, it blocks the natural light coming in to the room?

And I'm chucking a bit that I'm even worried about which one to book as who cares? It's a Disney Cruise!!!

The problem here is too many of those reports are by people who have never ever stayed there they just have an opinion!!!

I have stayed under the pool deck on many cruises, yet to have any issue and I am a light sleeper.

I definitely can't give you a valid opinion on the two decks you are considering. But on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, we always go with the 4E cabins on deck 5. But I agree with using the ship diagram to see what will be above your cabin. You want to avoid anything that will be a high traffic area above you.
