**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

Hello again thanks for adding us to the roll call., I see there is some info I forgot to give. Our family is from Ontario, Canada we live just outside of Toronto. We have the early (6pm) dining and the late show 9 pm (I think). Our stateroom # is 8668 though now I am wishing we booked two connecting rooms so we'd have more space, but the cruise price has gone up too much now to make that change. I am still a little confused about how the Fish Extender works as we never did this on previous cruises. :confused3So if anyone is willing to give me the lowdown I'd appreciate it. My dd's are hoping some more tweens join us on this cruise so they can make some friends and so they can have more than each other to hang out with at Edge. I am a little apprehensive about cruising with a baby as we never cruised when our dd's were that young but I hope all goes well. :goodvibes

Well hi there! Welcome, new cruisers or just new to dcl? We loved our first cruise but enjoyed our second because we knew what to expect, the best thing to do is be informed but enjoy! How many years for you and Chris ?:banana:Looking forward to getting to know you both!

Hi! It's our first cruise ever, and we liked what DCL had to offer (my wife is a big Disney fan.) And it's going to be our 3rd anniversary. We're really looking forward to being there, and we can't wait to meet everyone! :cool1:

There are a lot of good threads thruout DisBoards that cover the FE topic. This will be our first year participating, so anything I can offer wouldn't be from the point of authority.

Essentially, the way I understand it is....it's a way to share a gift to others that are participating----homemade items, usually Disney or travel group themed, or items that are indicative of your home area. Useful items seem to be appreciated, but then again, I believe all items are appreciated. It's your choice as to whether you give something that is 'per stateroom' or 'per cruiser'----with our size group, it might be best for us to adopt a guideline on that.

I am not positive, but I think maybe JorDan in our group may have organized this previously for her cruise group, so she can probably provide much more valued insight.

We are looking forward to it....you can find custom-made fish extenders on eBay or Etsy.com, or make one!

Some of the threads that I am familiar with; they should keep you busy for awhile(!):

You might be surprised once you see what others have done. Just tap into that inner-Disney mojo, and I'm sure anything you give will be awesome.

Wow Tony I 'd better start reading:lmao:!! Thanks so much!! I am just concerned because I am not that "crafty" so trust me no one would want anything that I have made:rotfl:.

I'm not particularly "crafty" either so many of my FE gifts on my last cruise (and first FE effort) were small Disney-themed items purchased from local dollar and party stores.

Many of the FE gifts I received were similar to those I gave out. I got things like pens, pencils, pirate tattoos (which I wore!), candy (which we ate at the movies), magnets for the door, and a variety of other things. Some were bagged, or wrapped, others were just left "plain" in our FE.

I didn't label my FE gifts, thinking it was a Secret Santa type of deal, but most of the FE gifts I received were addressed and "signed" by the sender - so I'll be doing that on the next cruise.

hello everyone! just booked our family's 2nd disney cruise this weekend. sure wish we'd known about "dummy bookings" in march when we were on board so we could have gotten all the goodies for booking on the ship  oh well, we have a date booked and convinced my parents to join us (this will be their first cruise w/ dcl but they've cruised before).

we used to live in Sint Maarten so we are excited to go back "home".

i am hoping to get really involved here and make lots of connections. we really enjoyed our dis group from our last cruise and loved the FE. (so much so that we did our cabin AND my il's since they didn't understand how it worked and they have little kids so we wanted them in on the fun, lol!)

our future plans w/ dcl are to do an alaska cruise in 2013 w/ a huge group of both family and friends (25ish total) and then a med cruise in 2014. anything else (panama, transatlantic) will just be "icing"! ;)

did i get it all?

as for naming the group i liked the ones that had both EC and fantasy in the title. our MR dis name was Dis amigos tying in the mexican and the DIS and so i was trying to come up with something similar what about "EC Fantastic Floating Jump up" ? or "Fantastic Floating Jump up, EC style" then we have the location, the ship and some local flair all mixed in. ("jump up" is a caribbean term for a party that all are welcome to join in on the fun) the "EC style just reminds me of "jamaica style" lol! the floating i stole from another one of the suggestions, if that's too long then we can take it out.

speed figure's "Pirates of St. Eastern Fantasy" has my vote of those already listed, if the time to submit new entries is over.

I like the suggestion of "Fantastic Floating Jump Up" or even "Fantastic Jump Up". You've explained the meaning and it ties in the Caribbean itinerary with the Fantasy. Nice. :)

I don't know if it's any better than being the "EC virgins" but we could be the "EC Jumpers" for short... :upsidedow (ok now i've got that "jump jump" song in my head from wii "just dance" lol!)

Hello All -

My vote is to keep the name simple....

Eastern Fantasy Jump Up
Fantasy Jump Up
Eastern Jump Up
Pixie Dust Jump Up
Summer Lovin' Fantasy
May 2012: Fantasy Becomes Reality
Eastern Fantasy Fun
Eastern Fantasy Fans
Eastern Fantasy Family
Summer Fantasy Ride
Eastern Fantasy Ride

i agree that the more simple it is the more "catchy" it will be and therefore more widely used. i only used "EC" instead of "Eastern" b/c it sounds like "the EAC" from finding nemo tying it in to disney. if we did EC Fantasy Jump up we would have disney, the ship and the caribbean flair! but all that said, i'm just throwing it out there b/c we STILL don't have a name, if you didn't want my input you shoulda solved it before i joined, *wink* i'm reading the closed thread and it was being discussed (or at least mentioned) way back there, lol!

we just fixed our staterooms so we are ajoining my parents, here are the #'s
8552 gil and linda
8550 ron, lara and kids

Whoa Nelly - I was absolutely fine with the input - I am newer to the group as well and had not put in my ideas for a name yet so I thought I would jump in. Hopefully you are open to my thoughts and ideas too. I think the cruise meet is still in the idea gathering phase for a name - so everyone has a chance to thow things out there. Its all good. Hakuna Matata!:flower3:

Like I said it may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but just take things slow and enjoy the heck out of it! Oh and don't overpack! We brought like eight pair of shoes for each of us and that was way way too much! You will love it! The other hint is be prepared to book your next cruise. If it's not for you then no big deal, but if you love it(like we did) you get a lot when you book on board (like we didn't) :wizard:

Wow Tony I 'd better start reading:lmao:!! Thanks so much!! I am just concerned because I am not that "crafty" so trust me no one would want anything that I have made:rotfl:.

 Tony is soooo good at reading and getting through a lot fast :surfweb: it must be because that is what he does for a living! The one thing I feel like he missed on the FE is the name, outside each room on the magic and the wonder is a fish that you can get "mail ie bills" on, and the little thing that people put little gifts in has little pockets thus making it a fish extender!:rolleyes1

We have been discussing this since before I joined the group, as you have been reading the closed thread you can see we lost some people in the move. I think we should give them a little more time to find us and maybe set a date to get this group named. I wish there was a way to get in touch with everyone! Please keep up with the name game it only gives us more to choose from:idea:

Good deal! That is something I've been wanting to do, but haven't had the chance.

Ack.....I'm behind a bit in my responsibilities. I will try to make updates for information provided from home this evening. I'll put out an all clear, and I ask that everyone lets me know if I missed anything.

Happy Hump Day. The weekend is almost here!

Sorry I have been silent I have had a lot going on here...

I am graduating college in August, with my AA and moving to Univ. Central Florida for my Bachelor's end of August so I was busy applying for UCF, dealing with a few bumps in the road. Then I had 4 tough classes this semester that has kept me busy. I finished my finals on Monday and had hoped to have a quiet uneventful 2 months before my last two classes of my AA degree start in June but.... I had tooth pain last week in the midst of finals. I went to the dentist and came home today without my wisdom tooth.

I am hopped up on pain killers right now and hopefully it will be a smooth recovery.

I have a trip to CT for my cousin's graduation in June....a trip to St. Augustine in July... and then I can focus on planning for the cruise. We will be celebrating my graduating, my 30th birthday!

Well I'm off to rest as the pain killers are making me drowsy.

I got your notes, Sues, and I've posted recently, but all's good. Thanks for sending that out and wanting to keep the group together! :thumbsup2

Seems like there was some tension up-thread, so hopefully we can all be honest without taking it personally. It's hard to land on a name if we can't talk freely about the suggestions. :grouphug:

Of all the names submitted so far, I prefer "Fantasy Becomes Reality." The other names all sound kind of long/complicated to me. I like that it plays on the name of the ship, which is more of a focal point for me than the Caribbean. That said, I haven't read one so far that captures my fancy completely, so I say keep the suggestions coming. :) I've tried thinking of something good but am coming up with nothing, so I'll keep my thinking cap on, too!
