Fantasy- 7 night Western- August 4, 2012

Our family of 4 is sailing on this cruise
Myself
DH
DS, age 12
DS, age 10

We have been on several cruises, but this is our first Disney cruise.

Do very many people dress up as pirates on pirate night???

DH and I dressed up for pirate night. It was lots of fun. There was a lot of people dressed up on our cruise. There was also a fair amount not dressed. I find it fun to dress up, but I might leave some of our accessories at home to save on luggage space. By the way, we made our costumes so it was cheap. Cut up old pants, bought cheap tshirts at the craft store and slices on to make a v. The other one I wore underneath. Then bought rope string to lace the outer shirt. Accessories bought at the dollar store.

Hmmm..... have you they ever tried to sell you when you have said that?

Prom!!!! How fun. I hope she has a great time. DD is a sophomore and her guy a freshman, so no prom this year. Most her buds went though. They were all so pretty! It's so fun seeing them all dressed up when it's usually basketball shorts and ponies!

Can't wait to see the pic!

I didn't even recall them trying to sell products til you brought it up. So it must not have been a hard sell. I have to say, I found it expensive and not as good as the ones I get at home. I did enjoy seeing the beautiful spa and chatting with the girl who gave the massage. If I did anything in the spa it would probably be the rain rooms that I did get to try.

So, you thought that the products were expensive and not as good as at home or the services?

The rainforest room does sound great. I am definitely going to try it too!

Services high compared to home. The massage on the ship was about 35 higher than home not including tip. I personally didn't feel it was the price.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll just "play it by ear" once we get on the ship. Definitely going to hit the rainforest room though!

Hi everyone, I've put all the details I have received so far into the FE spreadsheet. :surfweb:
So far I have the following 9 families on the FE list:

familytravel
Ramule
karriemouse
Sunshineminnie
Elfinjojo
stacyk9
IceSk8ersMom
Nancydisney
sthissell

Probably the best way to distribute the list is via email, so please could you contact me on karen@bracegirdle.uk.net and I'll send out what we have so far. You can then see a) the participants we have and b) and information which is missing!!

If your name is not above and you would like to join in (I think several families are still thinking about it) then please do either contact me via pm or email with your names, ages of children, cabin number, favourite characters and any allergies anyone may have.

Thinking of a deadline for joining: what about three weeks before the cruise - 14th July. That should accommodate both those joining late and those making items (and those that, like us, leave for vacation a while before the cruise!). If you don't think this will work for you, please let me know.

Hope that's all OK!

Thanks again for organizing this! I think three weeks prior is a good date for the reasons you stated above.

I have email you about the list.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

IceSk8ersMom - I can't find a PM from you, maybe because I was offline for so long when you sent it, please could you resend it? Thanks so much.

Hiya thanks for organising the FE but I am going to have to pull out of this round. I am signed up for the week before too and it's too much really to do both weeks, sorry guys, but have fun doing this one.

I can see how two weeks worth of FE gifts would be quite overwhelming. Have fun in the other FE!!

And speaking of the FE, I bought some of my supplies today for the items I'll be making. Thank goodness for gift cards and really good sales!!!

Awww... sorry to hear that, but certainly understandable! Have fun!

Woo Hoo! How fun! I still haven't decided what we are going to do. I think that it depends a lot on the final size of our group.

For those of you who have done this before. Is it typical for a lot of people to join at the end, or is this going to be about the size of our group?

Have a great day all!:goodvibes

It does sound like everyone is getting excited. I know I am, even DH is getting totally into the whole planning thing. He even suggested going shopping the other day. Now for him that means excitement. :rotfl: We decided to book our airfare instead of last payment so that we could all sit together. We had a problem last time we traveled and didn't want to go through that again. Just 9 more days though and our Fantasy vacation will be paid in full. I would like to say that I hope I get to meet all of you while cruising. I would like to join the FE group as well, but I have to ask DH and DD their fav character. Also I am curious to as to how many families are usually in an exchange group. Do you take all who join and break them up into smaller groups (provided there are a lot) to limit the size and to help keep costs down for all involved or just keep them as one big group. I have already started gathering items to put in the FE's for the younger ones. I am trying to keep the disney theme going, but I am also trying to think of things that aren't going to take up that much room in my luggage as well. My DD (14) thinks I'm silly, but I can't wait to see the look on her face when she starts gathering the things out of her FE.

I am doing the Happy Dance today because I paid off our cruise::woohoo::woohoo: I am really getting excited because May 6th our booking window opens:cool1: I can't wait. I can't believe our meet thread has so many pages. Last time I was on it was 7 or 8 pages and now wow:goodvibes I hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend:thumbsup2

Hello and :welcome: to the cruise!!

Personally we don't dress up on pirate night, apart from a few bandannas, but lots of people do and some of them very well!

I am not sure I am doing a spa treatment. I am skeptical because I have heard so much about the "hard sell" at the end. I really don't want to end a spa treatment with that. What has your experience been?

Do you know if you can see the Pirate night fireworks from the aft balconies? I love fireworks, and will go up top to see them, but hanging out on our verandah sounds great if we will for sure see them.

I had a massage on the Dream and it was good, but more expensive than home, and I did end up buying a product, which I regretted afterwards. I don't plan to book anything this time but I will be checking out the Rain Forest room.

The fireworks are launched from the starboard side, so I very much doubt you'd see much from the aft balconies. Which is a shame as I'd love to watch them from there as well!

I have email you about the list.

Thank you, I have sent you the list, but it's just changed so I will send an amended copy!

Thanks very much for your email, I will update the list and email it out to everyone tomorrow. (On the wrong PC at present.) Currently we have a fairly small group, but if it starts getting large we can discuss splitting the exchange.

Currently we have the following families on the list:

familytravel
Ramule
karriemouse
Sunshineminnie
IceSk8ersMom
WhenUWishUponA5tar
Nancydisney
sthissell

If you would like to be involved please PM me or email me at karen@bracegirdle.uk.net and I'll add you to the list and email you the details so far!

You accidentally left my family off this list. It's "stacyk9". Could you also send me the amended list?

:lmao: on the DH suggesting to go shopping. I've been married 23 years and have never heard that!:good vibes

Oh please do join the FE. It looks like the list right now is quite manageable.

I think it's great to be a little silly and I bet your DD loves it too!;);)

Woo Hoo!:cool1::banana::cool1::dance3: Happy Dancing with you!

I can't wait to book. I hope that we get what we'd like. If not... I am soooo not worried about it because either way we are going to be on the Fantasy having an awesome vacation!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I'm thinking I will skip the massage and enjoy the rainforest room as well. If I change my mind once on board I'll try to book then.

Thanks again so much for organizing the FE!

Have a happy weekend all!pirate:

OOOOOOOOoooooo, I just noticed my ticker. 3 MONTHS!!!!!! WOOO HOOOOOO!!!!

You accidentally left my family off this list. It's "stacyk9". Could you also send me the amended list?

So so sorry, you are on the list - I was trying to get the local election results while posting and didn't copy and paste properly - I should not try and multitask!! We've just got back from a good friend's excellent 50th birthday party so I'm not even going to try and email the list until I'm sober. It's wonderful when the children get old enough to drive and pick the ageing parents up from parties!! Thanks Sophie! :rotfl2:

Tonight at midnight our booking window opens up so the day will be spent figuring out what we want to do:confused3. Of course we have been thinking and dreaming about them all:rotfl: I hope our computer does not act up tonight:badpc: I hope everyone else who gets to book tonight ( silver cast away club members) get what they want:goodvibes
