Fantasy 12/3/16 Christmas season with the Mouse!!

Hi there fellow Caroler, we're two adults who just love Disney and think DCL is the best vacation money can buy. We both work in medicine, I work in medical research and she works in child community behavioral health.

Her favorite color is yellow, favorite disney movie is Fantasia, her favorite candy is starbursts, we're currently really into Pokémon go and her team is Valor if that helps.

As for me, red, lion King, twizzlers, and I'm a trekkie and my Pokémon go team is Mystic.

Hope that helps!
I'm a Trekkie as well. I went to the Air and Space museum on Friday for their celebration.

Hello fellow cruisers! My husband and I are second time cruisers with DCL- first time on the Fantasy and first time checking out the boards here. We are in cabin 7096. Just the two of us, but we are hoping for some little Disney fans in the future. Currently living in Mass and loving it, but we've both lived in several states along the east coast. Can't wait for the cruise- celebrating our second anniversary on the 6th! If there's still room on an FE group, we'd love to be added! The only special request is no rum for him (allergy), but if he happens to get any- I'll just trade him! ;) (Brian and Megan)

Welcome!!! So glad to have you join us! I am happy to add you to the Santa's Helpers group! I think you are pretty safe as far as rum goes because Disney has changed its alcohol policy and now hard liquor is banned...

Sorry we are late! Can we be added to the Christmas fe list? We have 2 kids 2 adults in 12528 and I adult now 9526. Is it too late?
Ashley
Ashley, it's never too late as we are the "no drama" cruise group! Send me more info like the ages of your children, any allergies, etc and we'll get a new FE group started...I am certain we will have other folks join the new FE group!! Welcome to the planning - it's awesome!

HI! Glad you could join us! I am Michelle and we are in 12020...so we will see you in the lounge!!! So very excited!!!! Our countdown is at 76 days until we fly!!!

My wife and I will be on the November 26th and the December 3rd Cruises. These will be our 20th and 21st Disney Cruise and we are just as excited as if it was our first Cruise. We are avid Disney people, we are DVC members and have just recently hit over 800 days that we visited Disney World and Disney Land over the years. It is nice to see other travelers that are so happy to be going to Disney World or go on a Disney Cruise. If you need 1 more Cabin for the December 3rd cruise for any of the FE groups let us know and we will be happy to participate. If this Cruise has a meet and greet please let me know and we will also participate with that. Sorry our focus has been on the November Cruise and we are just starting to look at fun for this cruise. Hope to meet some of you real soon.:santa::hippie:

WOW - what a great life! Back-to-back weeks is a dream of so many folks! We'd love to add you to the FE since we began another group, the St Thomas Snowmen...but I haven't heard the details from AshleyDoscher so I'll let this hang for a few days to see if I get those details...

We haven't discussed a meet-and-greet mainly because the crowd here is a bit quiet...many folks visit to ask to be part of the FE and then we don't hear much...

I am confident this group will benefit tremendously from your experience! Have you cruised at Christmas time in the past?
Once again, welcome!

A little about our group. On this cruise it will be by parents. And then in a connecting cabin myself, our 5 year old who is turning 6 during the cruise and our 15 year old son. It is bittersweet because my husband can't get away from work and our eldest son started college this year and his college finals start December 5th.

You may wonder why we didn't wait until we could all go but that is pretty much impossible. It is hard to get handicap balcony cabins unless you book far in advance. Our eldest son plays lacrosse at college. Our middle son just started his sophomore year in Highschool and plays Highschool soccer and baseball and he plays on a travel baseball so every weekend 10-11 months out of the year we are traveling all over the east coast.

My parents health is declining. My sweet mama had a massive stroke when she was only 57 years old. She is 72 now. She is remarkable. She's never regained the use of one side of her body. Or the use of her hand or arm though she can drag her leg for short distances. She tires easily but she learned to talk again and is truly remarkable. Sorry to brag. My sweet dad is a cancer survivor and is 70. They thought it best to go on this cruise while they are able to go and enjoy it fully.

I do feel guilty about our eldest son not going but he's been gracious about it. This summer he and I went on back to back cruises as his graduation gift. The first week we went east and the second week we cruised west. My husband is a retired Marine and still works for the US government. He was gone a lot so I raised the two older boys primarily on my own. Because of his dad's deployments and being the eldest he and I never really had any time alone together. I just have to share those two weeks together were amazing and memories that have helped sooth my heart while missing him since he's gone away to college.

Our youngest son was a late in life shock but gift. He is 5 and turns 6 on December 5th. This cruise will be a complete surprise for him. We will drive down to Port Canaveral on Friday or at least close to PC and over night. We are trying to decide the best way of telling him about the cruise. Depending on where we stay he may figure it out. We went on a 8 night cruise over Christmas last year so as I said he might put 2 and 2 together. For now I've scheduled the character call for Friday evening.

Any ideas on how to reveal the cruise to him? We know he will be sad that his daddy and eldest brother aren't going but if anyone has any neat reveal ideas let me know.

I'm sorry if I've over shared. I am still trying to get caught up on thee gift exchange and the secret santas that are needed.

Tiff

Perhaps this will help:
12/3 Sat Day 1 embark, tree lighting in the atrium

12/4 Sun Day2 sea day, formal night, free drinks in atrium

12/5 Mon Day 3 sea day – maybe Winter Wonderland Ball?

12/6 Tues Day 4 Tortola – pirate night, Boarding at 5:45pm

12/7 Wed Day 5 St Thomas boarding at 4:00

12/8 Thur Day 6 sea day, semi formal night

12/9 Fri Day 7 Castaway Cay

12/10 Sat disembark :(

What is the Winter Wonderland Ball?
I would assume the formal night are dresses for the ladies and bow ties or ties for the men and young.
And the Semi formal night similar but maybe for the men they can get away without a jacket or suit meaning a blazer and pants?

The Winter Wonderland Ball is more like a performance in the atrium (think dancers in scarves and hand muffs) but includes fake snow

Formal night attire is all over the place, so I read...my daughter and I are wearing formal gowns because we can but all the trip reports I have read (and photos I have looked at), cocktail dresses seem more common. DCL has changed the dress requirements for dinner over the years to offer less restrictions and so I think you'll see huge variations in the level of "formal" or "informal" dress

Tiff, no, you didn't overshare, instead you describe a loving daughter who is balancing lots of competing demands...and doing so beautifully! Your college son will understand (I left both college sons at schoolwhen cruising with my daughter in 2014 and they were too busy to care) and your youngest will have amazing memories of special time with his grandparents!
Look forward to meeting you!

Hi there!! Just wanted to check in & confirm that
As for finalizing the FE lists, I added the last log in/post in our thread dates for the disappeared folks to the FE lists...my thought is that, around Sept 1, we can ask everyone to check in (just a simple "I am here" post) and then remove the folks who don't check in...
seems sad to include folks who aren't active in the thread...
I believe the real purpose of this thread is to connect with each other, not get small gifts through the FE...so logging in more than since last year could be helpful as we get to know each other...
That said, I recognize I am part of the old school who used to connect on the DIS boards long before FE was started. There is currently a great thread on the "good ole days" in the main board...http://www.disboards.com/threads/frustrated-about-new-cruise-meet-groups-vs-the-olden-days.3528623/
