Fantastic customer service from Get Away Today

Please read my final post on the resolution of this matter. Thank you.




I am very upset. I have purchased tickets through them before and always felt like they were a reputable company. When it was announced that Disneyland tickets were going up, I contacted getaway today and was told that their contract is good until the end of the year and that their prices will not be going up. Well their prices haven't gone up but now you can no longer purchase tickets unless you purchase hotel accommodations as well! So instead of buying my tickets prior to the increase - didn't have the cash at the time- I now have to pay more than planned. I am a DVD member so I don't need accommodations. Just a heads up to those who thought getaway today is a respectable company.
 
I'm sorry you had this experience but I would say that the title of this thread is a bit unfair. To get "ripped off" would imply that they charged you too much or charged you for something but didn't deliver. And furthermore, are you sure? I didn't enter my credit card info, but it let me get that far on the site with just to tickets (no hotel).

honestly i dont know what happened but i went on their site and was able to get all the way through to check out and went in as guest only...sent me straight to where i input my credit card....maybe you did something wrong???

Rather than getting ripped off, I would say you were misinformed. Right after the ticket increase, all the e-mails I received from Get Away Today were very clear about tickets at old prices being available from them only through June 10. I know there were some people on the boards here who were hurrying to lock in their plans before that date so they could beat the price increase. I never read in any of Get Away Today's advertising that they would be able to offer tickets at the old prices through the end of the year, but that June 10 date has been very prominent in all the e-mails I received in the last few weeks. It's a bummer for you and unfortunate for the company if they had customer service representatives disseminating incorrect information. Don't know where you live. If your grocery store sells Disneyland tickets, you might be able to still find some at the old prices. HTH
 

idk what you mean? I looked today and found the site letting me in just the ticket part again. Are you sure you didnt make a mistake soem where? try again and you may get what you want. They also have some deal going till end the month on tickets once again or untill sold out.
 
I just tried to buy tickets only, same experience as everyone else. i was able to get to were you put credit card in.

i imagine if i had put my card number in, it would have gone through.
 
OP's problem doesn't seem to be that you can't make Disneyland ticket-only orders from Get Away Today but that they won't give you the pre-increase prices for ticket-only orders. They are now only giving pre-increase prices with packages, and those must be booked by June 28. As I noted in a previous post, Get Away Today advertising had previously stated that they were only holding ticket prices at the pre-increase price until June 10, so it sounds like OP may have gotten mis-information about the pricing of ticket-only orders after that date.

oooooohhhhhhh got it:thumbsup2 well DL gives wrong information all the time so what does that make them???:rotfl: for me i dont trust anybodys word when im calling a business ...when i call i take down their name, id number and write the date i called along with what they said..then i call back and if i get different info (which i usually do:rolleyes1) i do the same and keep calling until i have a few of them..then i call a manager and get their info so if anything like this happens to me (and it has) i have someone up higher to go to and 99% of the time they make it right because they know i have all their names and numbers and dates of convo along with what they said...
 
I think the OP may have misunderstood what Get Away Today was telling her. I just bought tickets through them for our October trip, and they were very clear that while the lower-priced tickets are good through the end of the year, the price was only good until June 10. And that was actually an extension, originally it was June 7. So they are telling you the truth, the lower-priced tickets are good until the end of the year, but you had to purchase them before June 10. Sounds like they misunderstood what you were asking, or you misunderstood what they were saying.
I have used them several times in the past, and I've always had a great experience, even when I've had to make changes to my reservation, etc.

I always write down the date, time, information spoken, AND the representative's name and/or ID. I have been caught before when someone tells me, "Well, who told you this?" This applies to any phone call to businesses made in everyday life. Good luck, OP, it does appear you were misinformed, and hopefully you can let them know who/when etc. this took place.
 
I consider GAT to be a reputable company! :goodvibes I have always purchased my tickets through them and just purchased the San Diego portion of our trip through them as well! It would be wrong to say they "ripped people off" by not allowing people to purchase tickets at the old price. As PP mentioned, they sent out lots of emails informing us that the ticket prices would go up June 10th. Also, some travel agencies offer cheaper ticket prices by making them part of a package because the discount is actually applied in the hotel price. I wouldn't want others to get the idea that GAT is untrustworthy.

We’re very sorry there was any misunderstanding. This is the first time ever that Disney has not allowed us to continue to sell our contracted rates throughout the year, and as you’ve read in others’ posts, we tried EVERYTHING we could to get the word out as soon as we heard, including sending emails to anyone who has purchased a Get Away Today package and anyone on our regular email update list, updating on our social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest), and major ads on our homepage and Disneyland destination page. We also added a countdown banner ad on the homepage to make it explicitly clear how many days people had to purchase and heavily promoted our Payment Plans which are also available for ticket only orders.

With that said, we were able to pre-purchase a small amount of hard tickets at the previous gate price of $224, and right now we are only including them with a hotel purchase. If you call our office and ask for the Day or Night Manager (depending on when you call) and mention this post, we will make an exception and can honor those tickets without the hotel for you. We always do everything we can to make sure that we take care of our guests and we would love to continue to be your Disney experts!

WOW...ok um getawaytoday???? someone told me that if i called in by today they would give me a buy one get one free tix of the same or equal value...they lied...so will you honor that too???:rotfl2: jk jk...this is amazing...i wish all companies would do stuff like that:thumbsup2
 
First of all - I would like to apologize as I have tried to teach my children not to type, text or call in anger and I stupidly did not follow my own advice.

I do want to explain more than my post said. I did call repeatedly and spoke to different people to make sure I was understanding them correctly. This was all done on May 19th. After to speaking to various agents I felt confidant that this was not a big deal and I went about my life. I checked back in the other day to find out that they were no longer offering the tickets as previously stated and I became upset. Per the post it appears that they did attempt to notify people via email, social media etc. I have changed my email in the past year (local hospital had computers stolen with email addresses as well as SS#. So I no longer use the old one for security reasons). So I did not see or hear about Disney's decision to not allow their tickets to be sold at the old price.

I appreciate everything that GAT has done to help in this situation and I would like to especially thank Christie at GAT for her compassion and patience in listening to me babble my apology and story to her.

I promise to make sure that I speak well of GAT to everyone I encounter who is looking for vacation plans and would post a testimonial/recommendation wherever they may like.

Perhaps you should change the title of your thread to something that relays how you are now feeling?;)
 
I have to tell you we bought 3 day park hoppers prior to the June 10th deadline, picking them up on the 15th. There was evidently some sort of snafu that if you had to change a name or pick them up after the 15th or various other things that you might have a price increase. GAT called my home phone, my cell phone, AND sent me 2 emails to make sure I had the correct information and knew what to do. I was really, really impressed with them and will use them again when we will be in SoCal.
