Please tell me what it is?

Do we need reservations?

I thought it was a firework display at MGM, but now I think it's a show.

Does it get really crowded?

Thanks, I am really enjoying all the help I am getting from these boards. Y'all are the best!

Fantasmic is in the Hollywood theater at MGM and is technically a show but it is unlike anything you have ever seen. It combines characters, live action, laser lights, water screens and music into a huge production that tells the story of Mickey's dreams. It is a must see!

Seating opens up before the show and is basically stadium seating, first come first serve. It does get crowded and you should arrive at least 30 minutes before show time. If it is an busy day ask the cast members at the entrace if you should arrive earlier. You can get some food in the theater but a better bet is to get dinner/snack outside at one of the vendors and bring it in to eat while you wait for the show to start.

If there are two shows that night the second is usually less crowded.

You can get a Fantasmic dinner package that includes dinner in the park and a special seating area of the theater but it is expensive and the seats aren't any better then you would get on your own. I've never tried it so I don't have any pros or cons about it.

Fantasmic is definitely much more than a fireworks show although there are fireworks. Fantasmic is shown nightly at a special theater at MGM behind TOT. It is really kind of hard to describe but there are these huge water screens that have movie clips, etc. projected onto them as well as a HUGE number of characters. It is really well done.

No reservations are needed for the show but in the past there has been a Fantasmic dinner package where you purchase dinner at a participating MGM restaurant and then after dinner you are given tickets for a reserved seating area at Fantasmic. This can help alleviate some of the wait. You do need to make reservations for the dinner package.

The theater does get very crowded early. We have only gone during the off-season and even then we need to show up about 1/2 before the show. There is some pre-show entertainment so you are not just sitting around with nothing to do.

We were at MGM last Monday night. There were two shows, so when we returned from the resort we did a couple of attractions, had a Cheesebuger at Rosies and hit the gate at 10:15. Sat center stage about row thity and it is a great show. Shelling out for th dinner package is your calll.

This may be a spoiler to some, it wasn't for me...(Just makes me want to go more.....). If you don't want to see the show, before you get to WDW, then don't click on the link below!

Here is a link to a real video streaming video file - http://www.intercot.com/features/media/fantasmic.ram It's give you the full 27 minus of the show and if you set 'down' your screen resolution to about 800 x 600 you shuld be able to go up to 1/2 screen and see it reasonably clearly.

By the way, that website has a few other pretty good videos.

Does anyone else know of any site's hosting home videos of WDW?

Thanks for the link to the clip. We had a blast last time and it is top on our priority this trip as well :) Will enjoy the clip in the mean time. ha ha! ;)

Quadman,

I can't seem to get the intercot link to work. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

we've never used the dinner package and have always gotten seats and been fine.

if you are going when there are 2 Fanatsmic shows on one nite, GO TO THE 2ND ONE! they never fill up all the way and you will have a seat

and it doesn't matter where you sit...we sat in Mickey once and hated it(the pole in the way is not cool) we prefer to sit on the side toward the bottom.
