How does Fantasmic work these days? A few years ago, they opened it up for anyone to go in and get a seat. The last time I went(December 2013) they only allowed FP in ahead of time and everyone was waiting at the park entrance way back in front of Tower of Terror and it was a cluster. Is it still like this? I got there at the last minute and was able to get front center anyway but mainly bc it was just me and I was able to maneuver. In April we will have a party of 8. I hate to get a FP for such a large event but because we will have a 3 year old and 6 month old, I don't know that waiting in the cluster is a good idea either. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

It has changed and the amphitheater loads with everyone entering when the gates open on Sunset Blvd.:
FP guests enter and fill in all areas on the left side of the amphitheater.
Standby Guests fill in areas on the right side.
Dining Guests sit in the two CENTER sections for the first Fant-only.

For the 2nd Fant of the night, the center sections are filled by FP and/or Standby.

Gates open at least one hour before showtime.

If you are planning to enter as a Standby guest, plan to be there 45 minutes to an hour before Fant.

For FP, plan to enter at least 30-45 minutes before.

The 2nd show is less crowded and you can enter about 30 minutes before and have a good selection of seats.
