Fantasmic?

Is the Fantasmic at DL the same show as the one in DW? We have seen the one in DW several times. Just wondering if we can skip it. We like it but we have only 3 days and would like to hit all of the attractions that can't be found in DW.

It is different. First there are no seats. People sit directly on the cement, ground area by the Rivers of America. Secondly there is no Pochontas scene at DL. DL has a Peter Pan sequence on the Sailing Ship Columbia, they have flotsam and jetsam, and the final scenes are on the Mark Twain Riverboat not the tug boat WDW uses. They also have a much updated dragon that is amazing. I prefer DL's pesonally and think it is far superior except for the seating but love that it is right on the rivers of America for the ambiance. Last Christmas we were in line for Haunted Mansion and we could watch Fantasmic! playing. It was just magical.

Other not to miss attractions include: Pirates, Space, IASM, Aladdin Stage Show, All of Fantasyland, HM, Fireworks, WOC, and the parades.

OK, I will advocate a debatable suggestion that since Fantasmic is roughly the same at DL as DHS then you should see World of Color instead. Better still is to see both because frankly the version of Fantasmic is better.

Some parts are the same, some are different. The really interesting thing about Disneyland's Fantasmic is how they do it - there is no stage! If you like the show at WDW it is definitely worth checking out at Disneyland. My "Do Not Miss" attractions for a WDWer at Disneyland are:

Matterhorn Bobsleds
Storybook Land Canal Boats
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (if you miss it as much as I did!)
Alice in Wonderland
Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
Space Mountain (it's different/better)
Mark Twain Riverboat (or Sailing Ship Columbia)

We happen to love the WDW version better. Not only is there no Pocahontas segment at DL, but there is also no animal kingdom segment, both of which we love.

That said, the Mark Twain at the end of DL's is better than the little boat at the end of WDW's.

There are lots of differences, these are just a few. It's not the exact show at all.

I think it's worth seeing the DL version. It's similar... but different.

It's great seeing differing opinions. I watched the DHS version on YouTube and have NO interest in seeing Fantasmic! when we got to WDW this fall. Of course its now showing nightly when we are there so we may decide to do it, but its not something I am excited to see since I LOVE DLR version so much more.

Maybe you should rethink this. If you are a fan of F! you surely should see it in WDW. Enjoy a show similar to the one you know and appreciate the differences.

IMO at DLR, WoC is best, but during times when RDCT is playing I'd put Remember a bit ahead of F!.

IMO at WDW, Fantasmic 1st, Illuminations second, and Wishes(which is thier regular FW show) an easy or distant third. It really bothers me that their FW aren't nearly as good as Remember(just copy the darn show like you do with everything else WDW).

Also I like thier dining F! package. F! there is in an arena and like managed like WoC. Except witout the color zones. Just a big area for most of the guests and a smaller reserved area for the dining package people. But you still have to wait 2 hours or 45 minutes(package).

We thought it was great at DL. The problem is the seating. You have to get there early for a good seat and when it comes down to it people are a little pushy and try to get in front of you or squish you when they show up at the last moment. If you can get past that it is well worth it.
