Is it worth it to get the Fantasmic! dinner package for the VIP seating vouchers that come along with it? Or, on a not so crowded evening, would we be able to score decent seats if we arrive early enough? Anyone have recent experience with the dinner package?

Just from my experience, we booked the F! dinner package with Jedi Mickey's Dinner during SWW last June. It was our first time seeing F!, as my girls were finally old enough to stay up for it (and then for the Star Wars fireworks right after).

It was busy in the park, with a 7-8 crowd level, and it worked great for us. Center view prime seating without having to wait in line for 60+ min, like as been suggested to do in other posts. For a less busy day/night at DHS, it's probably not needed, but for a busy time, esp. if you want to see the first show, it's a ver y nice thing to have in your pocket - and yes pocket and not MB, since you get a physical piece of paper at your meal for F! entrance. :goodvibes

I won't do Fantasmic! without the package. One time we took the advise given on these boards that the later show wasn't as crowded when there are two performances on the same day, and therefore, the package wasn't necessary. BULL...that night the crowd for the 2nd show was halfway across the street wide and wrapped all the way back to the main entrance. This was the slowest week in September btw. I will never, ever, ever take that risk again. And now that they put the seats in the center for package purchasers, it's the best view you can get.

Depend on when you go. The Fantasmic line can be 2 hrs + long during busy times.

I would rather pay more to not wait inline.

Make sure you do show up around 30 mins before show. Made this mistake of showing up 5 mins before and didn't have a seat even thou we paid for fantasmic dinning seats.

We have booked the FDP our last two trips. Absolutely worth it....End of a long day and not wanting to wait in long lines.

We always do the F! package. We love Mama Melrose and would eat there anyway, and it just makes the day more relaxing. Plus, I wouldn't want to waste a FP on it…the seats are not as good as the dinner package seats.

Everything you said....ditto.

Not true, at least for us. When we entered using FP+, the seating was completely empty and the Mickey section was at least one of our choices of seating. We sat mid-level, dead center. I won't say for sure because I'm not 100% on it, but I believe if there are 2 shows, the 2nd showing gets center seats on FP+. Ours was a 2nd showing.

Perfect view...and it costs nothing extra.

Sorry, but that is misleading information.

The FP (FastPass) seating and the Fantasmic dinner seating are in two different areas. From what I've read the dinner/lunch seating is better than the FastPass seating.

We chose to do an early lunch seating at Hollywood & Vine. It will be our first time seeing the show, I wanted good seats and DH&DD won't stand in hours long line for this. Plus I'm hoping H&V will be a character lunch. :)

Guests for the first (or only) Fantasmic! show of the evening don't "stand in line for hours."
The gates open an hour or more before show-time and guests proceed directly to the theater, walk to seats, sit down and wait for the show to begin.

For the first (or only) Fantasmic! show of the evening, the FP+ seating starts directly next to the Dining Pkg seating and takes up the entire left half of the house.

If there is a second F! show, the FP+ seating is dead-center of the house.

FP+ for Fantasmic! is generally very easy to get as a 4th or 5th FP+ of the day,
so it doesn't take up an advanced FP+ for other attractions.

I'm going with a large group so F! Package is a must. I agree it depends on when you go. I've walked in and gotten great seats, I've had VIP and been squeezed into the corner.

Fantasmic is my favorite nighttime show. We really like MM and have always gotten great food and service there and it works on the DDP we always get so for us it is a no-brainer. We always do the package.

We got the fantasmic package, for lunch as there is only one show the day we're going and we don't want to wait an hour for it to start.
I really wanted to get the dinner package, does anyone have any experience with those opening up closer to the mark. I read on Touringplans website, 45 days before your trip is a good time to try, because people cancel their reservations? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

I asked this question in another subforum, and was told that it's not difficult to get a FP+ for Fantasmic that will be good seats. Of course, my question was related to taking a bariatric surgery post-op loved one to Brown Derby, and justifying the cost, so YMMV.

The last two years we've used FP+, arrived an hour early, and sat dead center both times. It was great, no dinner package necessary!

This was my view from the FP area. That rope on the right is the dining area.

The dining and FP are right next to each other. And if you have a FP and arrive early you can get a better seat than some of those in the dining area.

And to be first in you'll want to arrive 45min-1 hour prior to the show. This goes for if you have FP or Dining. You wait in line briefly, then you sit in your seat until the show. There's also concession stands inside for snacks and drinks
