Fantasmic! Viewing areas?

Check the other F! Dining Package threads for info on this, but I'm pretty sure I read that other DISers got the HB package and were able to order off the regular menu, e.g. burgers. Not sure if there was an additional charge for this. You can start a new thread to ask about this, but I'm fairly certain that I read a few posts confirming that this was possible. If so, and if your kids will eat items on the regular HB menu, this might be an option for you.
We were there this week with the Hungry Bear package. My daughter and I both wanted the ribs, but with the onion rings instead of the regular sides. We couldn't do that. We could order the fantasmic menu or regular menu, but not mix the sides and entrees. And the price doesn't change no matter what you order. So we decided she would get the ribs with those sides, and I got the chicken sandwich with onion rings, and we shared. We both liked the sweet bbq flavor of the ribs. But they were difficult to eat. You couldn't cut them with a fork and knife, and they were tricky to but the meat off. We managed, but I don't know if we would get them again. The chicken sandwich was boring. The onion rings were good, and we were surprised at how much we liked the fantasmic sides. The cranberry rice and kale salad were really good!

Wait, you were in the Hungry Bear section on Monday? I bet you saw me. My daughter and I were dressed... conspicuously. :rolleyes1

ETA: I ordered the chicken because I’d read your comment on here that the riblets weren’t good. I think “meh” works to describe it.
My family was in the hungry bear section Monday, too!

I'll be doing the HB meal for F! at the end of the month.
What time did you line up?
What time do they let you in to the viewing areas?
Is the lineup still be the Harbour Galley? or by the rafts to the island?

Thanks
Geemo
The line is near Harbour Galley. I don't know what time they let people in because they already had when we got there. I took these photos at 7:15 soon after we got settled, for a 7:45 show.

We were happy with our view.

This is technically the B.B. section by a foot or so from to the green tape. We weren’t directly in front of the Center lights but pretty close. ETA: we had no poles in our view from this position.

Our show was at 7:45, so the ticket said to arrive between 6:45-7:45. We got there a bit before 6:45, maybe 6:35-40? There were maybe a dozen people lined up before me, and they let us in just after 6:45. The actual rail was full before 7 (actually by 6:55, I think), but there were plenty of good spots available for awhile. It seemed like a lot of people arrived around 7:15.

We lined up by the Harbour Galley.

If we got into the parks around 2 on a Wed, would FP be gone for F! ? We have HB res, but I'm not excited about the menu...I'd prob rather just eat a corndog! ha. Thinking abut saving my money, unless the view is really that much better with HB!

They would typically be gone by 2, yes. And in the HB section, you’ll be able to sit on the ground and not be smashed by a ton of other people... so it’s not so much just the “view” as the experience that’s better, IMO.

Having said that, I haven’t actually done it with FP since the relaunch, only with dining packages. Based on what I’ve seen and knowing myself and my kid, I would FP if my group was all adults, but not with my 4-year-old.

Are the dining package viewing areas significantly better than the FP viewing areas? Do you still need to arrive 90 minutes early in either case? TIA

Are the dining package viewing areas significantly better than the FP viewing areas?..

As the pp stated, the benefits to the dining package FPs are that the viewing areas are right up at the waterfront (and center for BB) and that you are allowed to sit (on the ground). RBT also offers a premium package with patio seating for an additional charge, but that view is further back and further to the right of center. Free FP viewing is almost all standing (there is a small section that allows sitting on the ground to the right of the RBT ground section) and the sections are very crowded. If you are tall and not claustrophobic, free FPs may not be a problem. You would need to line up early for the free FP sections. For the dining sections, we line up early (not 90 minutes early) because we like sitting right at the railing. If you like being further back, you could show up closer to show time.

Does BB provide you with seat cushions?

The article was written on Jul 25, 2017 and included the above photo of a seat cushion, not sure how accurate it is:

BB does still provide you with a seat cushion, but I believe it looks different now. Someone posted a photo, I think, in one of the more recent F! threads here. You can try doing a search for it. But you should receive a cushion (which comes in very handy on Matterhorn and when watching parades!).

Just got one the other day... just more Fantasmic themed now with purple and black colors. The Matterhorn idea is genius! I would also add Splash to that list.

i was sitting at 5, got my ticket around 11. We checked in at the Mark Twain dock.

We have only seen Fantasmic once (since all the changes) and it was last December. We had FP for the first showing and lined up early, can't recall exactly what time, but earlier than we were told. From your photo I believe we were somewhere in the neighborhood of area 5, but we found a spot right behind a rock so that no one would be able to be in front of us and it worked perfectly--that will be our plan again this December. Honestly I am way too frugal to spend money for the dining options for Fantasmic or WOC. If the food was even good (doesn't have to be great, but good is a must) I wouldn't have a problem with it, but for the most part DL food is only good and some pretty bad, so it's only after years of experience that we have very specific places we like (or a particular food item). Use regular FP and stake out a spot behind a rock or in front of the railing (you might get damp) but at least you will have a good view.

Hmm, before posting in this thread I googled "disboards disneyland fantasmic!" and this was the most recent thread I found. After I read your comment I dug a bit deeper and came across the mother load:

Fantasmic! Superthread - Or Everything You Need To Know About Fantasmic at Disneyland

FANTASMIC! Dining, Dessert, Fastpass Thread - Q&A Here

I find the DIS Board a bit overwhelming with all the threads regarding one thing, why are there so many Disneyland Fantasmic! threads, why have they not been consolidated and why have they not been closed for comment considering were all asking and talking about the same thing? :confused3

I think, people just cant find the information readily so they create a new thread. This process is never ending and should be. Once a new thread starts a Moderator should intercede with a response to their question or comment AND provide them with the most up to date thread:

Fantasmic! Superthread - Or Everything You Need To Know About Fantasmic at Disneyland.

Thank you all for sharing this info. We will be in the parks on July 4th only and are considering the BB package because we usually always eat at BB anyway. Since we will only be there for one day, we will want to see fireworks. Please share a strategy on being able to see fireworks after Fantasmic. Thank you SO much!

Also, are these areas heavily monitored by CMs to ensure everyone is sitting in the correct sections and so others can't sneak in? (I ask because we have had an unfortunate experience at another non-Disney event) Thank you! :)

What you're asking has been answered in the second thread I posted on Post #36 and it all starts here: Post #464
