Fantasmic--too scary for little ones?

Hi all:
I booked a Fantasmic package (H & V) but then heard from a neighbor, who just got back, that her DS's (age 3.5 and 5) were not thrilled about Fantasmic and many, many young children in the audience were very frightened/crying.

Our DS is 5.5 and DD is 2.5. They have both sat through age appropriate movies but my daughter did get a little scared when we saw the Incredibles and DS is not a big fan of loud things like fireworks.

I just want to know if the scare factor is really something to think about with this--no need to do the package if the show is just going to freak out the kids, kwim? Thanks in advance for your thoughts/comments!

My daughter loved it at 1.5 and 2.5 years old.

She was not expecting a few fireworks sequences, and it made her jump. But she was very very far from scared.

Hi there - I don't have kids, so can't speak from personal experience - but the effects at Fantasmic are intense, and if your kids are frightened by fireworks and loud noises, it may be too much for them. At one point, the whole lake bursts into flame - rather intense even for some adults! You may want to wait until they are a bit older.

It is a fantastic show, however - so make sure you see it at some point!!!

Blessings - Lin

We took DD 2y/o at the time. And she handles loud things very well. She liked it well enough. But got very scared during the Villian sequence.

Hi Jess,

It's your call. you know your kids better than anyone else. We have neighbors who have a 3YO who was fine and a 6YO who was terrified.

It's loud, has ominous music, scary villains, fire, and fireworks, but a happy ending of course!

I agree with Bob P. You will be able to tell. The show is not scary at all. But then again, your children are a tad younger than my sons (twins 8 and a 10 Yo).
Hope you guys enjoy your trip.

I went with my 3 nephews (age 3, age 4 and age 8) and all three loved it espically the 3-year old who had seen it before.

My niece (age 4) on the other had was very scared. The loud noises and fireworks made her sit with her hands over her eyes and my hands over her ears (although she did refuse to leave)

I think it depends on each child. You can always try it out and if the kids get too upset go off to the side.

My DD was 8 when we went, and she was terrified. She is afraid of the dark, if that helps. (She was terrified of Zurg during ToyStory2, so she might just be an easily frightened kid. You know your child best.

My DD (almost 3) loved it and then fell asleep during it! DS (6) really liked it as well. Have fun!
