Fantasmic Thread!

Any tips or tricks to seeing Fantasmic without having to wait an hour? We won’t be doing a dining package (travel partner can’t eat most theme park food due to dietary restrictions) and I can’t sit on the ground nor stand for long periods. If we can’t just grab something last minute we just won’t see it.

Watch the 2nd show.

Per dining reservations, Fantasmic is scheduled for the Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend (5/24 and 5/25). We will find out tomorrow if it is moving to the historical pattern of showing every night during the summer.

I highly suspect it will be daily (baring any issues) from Memorial Day to mid-August (which Disney thinks is the end of Summer & the start of Halloween season).

This was my thought as well. Where is a good place to watch without a dinning package? The only time I have watched Fantasmic since they went to first LL & then dining packages was the Premium package at Riverbelle. I am very out of the loop on this. We used to be able to walk up and watch it on the bridge and now that has become a "hot spot" so it seems.

Edit: ignore this below. I was referring to WDW not DLR.
We had no problems with seeing the 2nd show and not waiting. In fact we were too close and should've chosen a seat farther back that were widely available when we walked in.

I hope so! They used to show it on Sundays during the offseason, but they did away with that this year. I'm maybe overly pessimistic that they'll get stingy even during early-summer and wait until mid-June.

I think you're right - they will show it nightly Memorial Day-August. It attracts people to the park every day during the week to stay late.

I will plan on doing the second show. We will only have one day (a Friday) that it will be showing. The problem is I also wanted to do Fire of the Rising Moons in Galaxy's Edge. So it will definitely be a last minute walk up for Fantasmic. The standby seating is to the right of the dining packages, correct?

Back in the day when we steaked out a spot for Fantasmic we would sit on the patio at the Riverbelle. Of course this was before the dining packages. Can you sit on the patio for the second show? They only do the package for the first show.

We have only been once and we were running since we thought we were so late to line up, so I cant recall exactly where I entered. But as a DLR person I remember walking into the theater and being like whoooaaaa so many places sit, why was a running.

Since you'll be coming from Galaxy's Edge I recommend taking the path past Rise of the Resistance and toward Haunted Mansion. That side (closest to Harbour Galley) is typically far less crowded than the side closer to Big Thunder, since most people come from the Big Thunder side. There's often ample walk-up viewing for the 2nd show around. I highlighted in yellow the areas I'm talking about in the map below.

"Theater"? Are you talking about the amphitheater at Walt Disney World?

Yes I just didnt feel typing out the full word since my autocorrect was on one today. I assumed everyone would know what I was talking about.
Not sure what you mean by "full word" since there was no mention of WDW even abbreviated so it was confusing to see mention of a theater for Fantasmic here on the Disneyland forum. Anyway, yes, the Fantasmic viewing strategy is very different at WDW.

Yep you are right. I was in another Fantasmic thread about WDW and I confused it with this one.

Fantastic at WDW is much more guest friendly seating wise. But with that said I always find somewhere to stand at DLR for the 2nd showing but it's not prime seating.

@disneychrista my previous post was totally inaccurate.. sorry :(

Thank you. The picture is very helpful.

Sounds like we shouldn't have any issues finding a walk up viewing spot for the second show, which is great. Only having one day to do things makes it harder.

Last summer when I did the dining package I told the CM I can't sit on the ground, so she let me sit in the River Belle Terrace patio that's off to the side of the premium dining package. While we were there multiple people came up and asked if they could sit there, too, and she let them in. This might depend on the CM, but it's something you could try since you can't sit on the ground. She was more willing to let people in the closer it got to show time, maybe because she knew dining package guests weren't going to take those extra chairs. ( I was close enough to overhear their conversations so I know the people asking didn't have dining packages.)

That is great to hear. I wondered about that. I might give that a try.

Ah, no prob.

Definitely the seating at WDW is more comfortable (even on concrete benches) than sitting on the ground at DL. But I still give the win to DL for show quality because of its larger scale, including real ships!

The pirate ship is amazing. Our fave part.
