Fantasmic! seating question

Is the seating for the Fantasmic! dinner package better than the seating if you use a FP+?

The FP seating is adjacent to the Dining section and then extends to include all sections on the left side of the amphitheater.

Dining package is dead center. FP is directly next to it. It's not much of a difference.

So unless you already plan to eat inside the park, just do the FP

I was trying to decide if we should do a TS or just snack after a late lunch. My DD loves all things pasta, but we are planning other meals to satisfy that desire. If the seating is similar I think we could get away without another TS meal. But I don't want to be so far over that we can't see well since DD hasn't seen show this since she was 8.

You can easily get it as a 4th or 5th FP. We arrive about an hour ahead of showtime (about the time they start letting you in the theater), and like to sit front row and as close to the center as possible..without doing the dinner package

This is a photo I took a few months back. This is from our seats in the FP area. The rope to the right is the dining package section. So we're basically almost in the middle with a great view.

We had no idea how FP+ worked with Fantasmic. We thought it would work great to get one, since we did RnR and ToT twice already. So we got them for Fantasmic, then went to dinner on Boardwalk. We were in no hurry to get back, figured no problem we have FP+.

Well....we arrived at Fantasmic about half hour beforehand, and there was a huge line that wound way down past ToT. And that was the FP+ line, not general seating. The line was so long dozens upon dozens of people just jumped in the line somewhere, instead of going to the end. We literally felt like we were the last ones in line for what seemed like forever. We finally made it in, but it was packed. Found seats at the bottom though, 2nd to last section on the left. They were fine, but lesson learned. FP+ does not guarantee good seating. You still have to get there early, which sort of defeats the purpose of FP+ IMHO.

If there are 2 performances of Fantasmic, you can skip the dinner package, eat when and where you want then get seats in that same section with very little wait at the late show.

We are going mid October. From the looks of this year's schedule there will probably only be one showing. We are planning to spend two days per park so if we don't get in the first night we can try for the second.

That is a great view! We haven't visited since FP+ went live so I'm am catching up on all of the ins and outs. I was not aware that a 4th could be used. Is this after the other three have been used? I'm sure we will like the new system...just a lot to catch up on.

Yea after you use first 3 you can keep selecting extra ones one at a time at fast pass kiosks from whatever is left available (tiers don't matter for fast passes after 3). So usually Fantasmic is always available as an extra. We've gotten it before an hour before showtime and headed directly to it

We like the summer hours with the late show option. Our standard plan is to ride Toy Story 3-4 times while the early show is underway then stroll into the ampitheater about 10 minutes the 2nd show starts. It's rarely over half full so we can always find really good seats.

Not necessarily true. The example I used above was for the late show. It was jam-packed, and long lines formed very early. As with anything at WDW, just depends on the crowd level any given day.

THIS^

We have had FP+, even arrived what we thought was in plenty of time and were sent almost to the far side. Every night seems to be a different chaos getting in and for the last couple years, early or late show, I've yet to see any empty sections. If you REALLY want dead center, get the Dining Package - but don't cut it close. At some point they just fill that section up with anybody.
