I actually just got this answer also. I ended up just booking Brown Derby for a 5:00 dinner and hope that when they decide what they are doing for March, we can change it into the package.

Actually did the same as you did for May!

Bummer! I sure hope it goes back to the old way by August, even though its not looking like it will. :(
Thanks for the info.

I hope it will go back to the old way in
May!!

Have you ever noticed we seem to be on the same wavelength...lol
My vote is go back to the old way also !!!!

Great minds definately DO think alike, LOL!!:D

Do I understand this correctly? If we do the dinner package, with H&V, for example, it is the same dinner we'd get anyway, but costs an extra $4 plus beverage (normally would be included).

Why don't they just offer dinner guests priority seating tickets for an additional $6? Is it really worth $30 for my family of 5 to get a better seat? If we just show up 30-45 minutes before the show do we risk being turned away? Even in early Feb.?

So they're charging roughly $4 extra plus the cost of beverage for the Fantasmic package? I think that these prices are kind of high but it's been a few years for us. Wow.

I guess we'll be winging it in Feb. We won't be eating at the HBD. Disney's loss of revenue for a dinner of 6 adults.

I cannot see paying more for the Fantasmic dinner package than the restaurant charges for the meal. I would rather wait in line :). And I used to be a BIG fan of thedinner package.

When we were there last Feb. we did the "old" fantasmic dinner at the Brown Derby. We ended up not even using the "dinner package" seats. They were all the way to the right of the arena. We walked in the main entrance 30 mins. before showtime and we were seated dead center in the arena. We were about 3/4 the way up, but excellent seats. We won't be doing the dinner pkg. this time, going twouldn;to just try our luck again. You probably wouldn't want to do this during a busy time.

Shelby5514-let us know how it goes
this time around. (If you hear anything
change for later in the spring please
let us know when you get back)-We look
forward to hearing all about it.

Since it seems that a lot of us here would prefer the old way back, send your emails to WDW!!!! I did. I know it may not make a difference, especially if they are still making money on the new way, but it cant hurt. We never thought we would get EE back, but we did. ;)

We ate at H&V last summer for the fantasmic dinner package and thought the food and the value was great. I was just going over my PS calculations and was going to include fantasmic again, but I've changed my mind. To costly. I mean $68 plus tax for a family of 4! I have small kids and they don't eat that much. Last year was a waste, I just thought getting into fantasmic was worth it. I'll be spending more time standing in line this year because I'm not going to do it.:(

DH and I usually eat at Brown Derby using the FDP. No more.
Last Thursday we left MGM for dinner and ate at Akershus in WS and then returned for Fantasmic.
The arena was not nearly filled. At least four sections were empty and the end two were sparce. (With the FDP side being very roomy. Not many takers.)
And it wasn't a cold night. The weather was great.

They aren't charging you extra at H&V. Well, I don't know what the deal is with the drink! But it's 19.99 plus tip, so it's they've added on $3 for a tip (15%). It's very strange how it includes tip but not tax, and no drink. I would be willing to bet you don't get charged for non-alcoholic beverages anyway.

I knew about the new package deal but this is the first I've heard about being seated in Tiers 1, 2 or 3 depending on whether you eat at the cheapest or most expensive restaraunt. Think we'll be winging it this year. ~:(~
