I have two questions about the Fantasmic pkg. One concerns me, but the other concerns a friend's plans.

#1. I was just reading a thread on the regular dining board that the appetizers at Mama Melrose are now listed as being for two people and each table gets one appetizer/two persons at your table. What about solo diners? Does this mean they just don't get an appetizer at all? Doesn't seem fair.:confused3

#2. I have a friend who is taking her family down there at the end of July. They are on the basic DDP. She says they are going to book the Fantasmic pkg at Mama Melrose, just so they can get the appetizers, but they have no desire and no intention of seeing Fantasmic. The only reason they are booking it is to get the appetizers, which they would of course not get if they booked just a regular dinner there. I know what they are planning is not technically illegal, but it seems wrong to do it when so many people are actually wanting a Fantasmic pkg to really see the show. I don't really know how I feel about it. I can see their point of wanting to get the appetizers, but since I love the show and feel it is a must see every trip, it just somehow feels wrong for them to take up a Fantasmic pkg that way, when there are so few of them and so many people that really want them.:confused3

I don't know about your ? Sorry. However you friends is a bit wastefull to me. It's 2 TS to book the Fantasmic Package. It seems like such a waste of TS just to get an app. Why not just pay OOP for the app if they have no intention to seeing the show.

Okay, I went into a panic and then went and looked at the brochure for the Disney Dining Plan. Mama Melrose is only ONE table service credit even if you book the Fantasmic Package. The only 2 credit service at the Studios is at the Brown Derby.

Really? I thought all Fantasmic packages were 2 TS? This is why I don't book them. I have to look into this now.
I've learned something new for the day.

Fantasmic pkgs at Mama Melrose and Hollywood & Vine are both 1 TS credit, but Brown Derby is 2 TS credits. This is why my friend says she is going to do it. It will only cost them 1 TS each and they will get an appetizer, entree, dessert, and drink. They're not interested in Fantasmic and says they plan on riding rides while everyone else is at Fantasmic. It just seems like a waste of four vouchers that another family may really want.

To tell you the truth though, I am really more interested in my question. lol Since I'm traveling solo in May and have the fantasmic pkg at Mama Melrose for May 10th, I'd like to know if I am going to be able to get an appetizer or not. lol

Thanks. I wanted to make an ADR at MM. We have never tried it. I was thinking about the Fantasmic package but thought it was 2 TS. Thanks! I love finding out new things!

That's easily solved, though... She can hand that voucher off to another family of 4 and let them enjoy the benefit of the F! seating. We had a nice family do that for us one day. They were on their way out and we were checking out the crowd to decide whether or not to do F!, so they gave us the voucher they weren't planning to use. :goodvibes

Have noticed a lot of menus around WDW are adding at least one appetizer choice that is "for two." The consequence to dining plan users is that two people must order it. However I do not recall seeing a restaurant that had nothing on its menu but appetizers "for two" so I can't fathom that would be all Mama Melrose has. I didn't specifically look at a menu there.
