Fantasmic or Fireworks?

Hi, everyone,

Seems I'll be at MGM this New Years Eve, and from the calendar on the official website, it looks like they are doing 3 Fantasmics that night, the last one being at 10pm. Do they do the New Years Eve fireworks in that ampitheatre, or somewhere else? If they do them elsewhere, can you see the fireworks FROM the Fantasmic ampitheatre?

I wonder if I can bring one of those stadium seats - you know, the ones with the back? I have one that's a backpack, and boy, for a long night, it would be welcome - but I wonder if they'd let it into the park.

Any tips will be very welcome - it's going to be a long day !

I'm only guessing about the firework. In the past they did the old Sorcery in the Sky firework show for New Tears and the 4th of July. If they do it again it will be above the Sorceror Mickey hat.

This is how things went at MGM last year:

Disney-MGM Studios -
It's time to party like a movie star at Disney-MGM Studios. The high-energy rock group, Mulch, Sweat & Shears, will entertain guests at the Sorcerer Hat Stage. Also at the Sorcerer Hat, DJ Charles Miles is set to keep the crowd pumped with a variety of energized music spanning the decades. The party escalates as guests countdown to the magic hour with "Lights, Camera, Fireworks!" - a spectacular fireworks show featuring great music from classic movies. Complimentary hats and horns will be distributed to Disney-MGM Studios guests at Sound Stage One on Mickey Avenue (while supplies last). The park is open from 8 a.m.-midnight and the New Year's Eve entertainment is included with regular Disney-MGM Studios admission.

The fireworks are not in the Amphitheater. Even if you could see them from that vantage point, I think they will probably clear the Fantasmic theatre after the last show and by then all the good spots to view the fireworks may be gone.

Bring your backpack chair. If they don't let it in stick it in a locker, see an early fantasmic, and if they do have fireworks this year, find a good spot in view of the giant sorcerers hat and enjoy!

Thanks - I was starting to wonder !

MGM wouldn't be my first choice for NYE, I'd rather be at Epcot - but as the marching band go-eth, and my DD and DS go-eth, I go-eth.

Any suggestions for good fireworks viewing spots that are away from the crowds on the main drag? I'm planning on hanging back for an after midnight coffee and dessert, to let the crowds thin out some before I try to get back to ASMusic.

There are lots of places to sit around the "HAT" area, you could also try closer to the entrance on one of the on that main drag. Have fun!
