Fantasmic - Must do or can do without?

DS 5 enjoyed it and DS 20 months liked it well enough - he wasn't scared at all. I could take it or leave it - and I'd probably leave it if it was all up to me and I had to wait a long time to see it again! That's one long boring wait!!! Of course I rarely wait for parades or anything else. I had the crowds and waiting (especially with little kids in tow). Worth doing once but go with the dinner package if you're going during a busy time so that your wait will be somewhat less.

lagirl-- Our 4-year-old daughter loved Fantasmic and was not bothered by it at all. There are some elements that might bother young children (the dragon and it's fire, all the villains, etc.), but she did not mind them at all. She tends to be a 'daredevil', though. If either of your children are more on the timid side, I would say it might get to them.

headintoWDW-- To me, Fantasmic is a must do, at least one time. We will probably go again when we return to WDW, even. But even if you are not certain you'll like it, I think it is worth trying out once. It is a very cool show IMO and definitely something you can only experience at Disney. I think it can also be a good alternative to fireworks and such, if they aren't your kind of thing.

After reading this thread again I'm wondering, should I even go? My children are 6 and 3. Will they be scared? I don't want to waste time standing in line and sitting for a bit to discover that this will scare the pants off my children. LOL I know you'll probably say "only I know my children" but was wondering what experience you've had with children the same age as mine.

They might be. The dragon can be scary and there are a lot of loud noises, fireworks and pyrotechnics and darkness.

Don't let all of the talk about the "dragon" and fireworks scare you off.

My DD first saw Fanstasmic at the age of 4 and thought that it was the greatest and she is by no means a daredevil. If they are able to watch any of the firework displays offered throughout WDW, then they shouldn't have a problem with Fanstamic. The only "surprise" shot of a firework is where the Indians shot an arrow during the Pochahontas scene. If nothing else sit towards the back of the arena that way the effects are not up in your face.

But of course no one will know your children better than you, so take everything that is being reported on this thread, including my comments, as hearsay and go from there.

It is possible to visit WDW and not see everything, like you could unless you has a couple of weeks, and still have a very enjoyable and memoriable trip!

Enjoy!

While I thought it was "ok", my husband was very disappointed after waiting on those hard, backless benches for almost two hours, he thought it definitely was not worth the wait!

I personally think that it is not worth the time and money. When my family and I went we waited for about 2 hours. By the time it started we were ready to leave. Also, when we were there the fire works malfunctioned. :earseek:
