FANTASMIC help

When you go to Fantasmic at MGM do you do the meal plan combo??? And do you stay at the park all day and then go strainght there? Or do you go back to the room for awhile before dinner reservations. We will be going in 33 days and with the heat I was trying to get our days figured out for which parks and was unsure how to handle this..... HELP

I searched your other posts to see if you had kids, and since you do and they're fairly young I think a full day at MGM would be very hard on you guys.

I've been to Disney 8 times and never done the dinner package to see Fantasmic.

I would plan on going back to your hotel in the afternoon and coming back for the show. That way you can fully enjoy the show and not be tired.

When I was there last I think I had a 4:30 pm time for dinner at Mama Melrose, for the dinner package.

We did MK in tthe morning, went back to AKL for a swim and then went to MGM for the parade and then Dinner. After that we had time for Rockin Rollercoaster before we went to the assigned Fantasmic dinner package seats.

I think it depends on what your family likes to do. For some reason it takes my family a lot of time to do all the things we like at MGM. We do not leave and we do the dinner package. We have not done the package before too but wished we had. I think you could also get there at opening and leave in the afternoon and come back. I think the shows just seem to take a long time to see. Lots of hurry up and wait. Plus sometimes the transportation can take a long time if you take breaks.

It's quite hard to take a break at MGM. The shows are pretty long and there's a lot of time there. It depends on how much you want to see.

In terms of Fantasmic! I wouldn't use the dining combo, because teh seats that are reserved for those guests are all the way on the right. Now, even though the show is great no matter where you sit. That's really far off from the best seats in the house. I definitely would suggest dinner and then getting to Fantasmic! a bit early. It'll give the kids time to rest and you a chance to calm down as well.

Heres what my dad and I have done (plus we had a 3 yr old with us)-we spend the day in the park and eat a big lunch, usually after the lunch crowd. Then about an hour before Fantasmic starts, we get our seats, and he goes and gets us something to eat from the vendors in the arena. We did the meal plan once and wont do it again. You may not have to get there as early, but the assigned seats are off to the one side of the stage. After we had seen the show from the center, we vowed never to go back to the sides again. You miss stuff over there.

DO a lot of you agree not to do the dinner combo for the show then because of the seats......

I don't do the combo for a lot of reasons. One, it's too much planning for me, DS7 and DD3. There's a lot of variables with 2 kids than can change the day, so I try not to plan too much. Since Fantasmic has a bit of a wait, that is our only scheduled item of the evening (my kids get fidgety waiting an hour for the show to start). And in that much heat, they NEED rest and cannot go all day. So to keep my sanity and theirs, we go back for a swim and naps, then head out for dinner and go wait for seats!

The other reason is the weather. I never wanted to be tied down to a night when there's a chance it could rain and cancel the show. I like the freedom of being able to see it if timing works, or changing it to another night if it doesn't.

Lastly it's the seats. There's no real benefit to us to reserve the pkg. We've had great seats going without the pkg.

My kids would rather eat at Pizza Planet, anyway!!
