I need to know if Fantasmic will be to scary for my 2 and 5 year old girls. We are planning to see this, but I have read in some places where it is terrifying for kids. Any opinions on this would be great.

Fantasmic scared the be-jeebers out of our 2 1/2 yr old DGD. It's very loud and the heat from the fire on the lake was very intense. The boats with the characters and princesses were beautiful, but the villains shown on the water screens and the fire breathing dragon were pretty scary. I would talk to the children ahead of time and tell them some parts will be a little scary. You know your children best. Maybe sitting closer to the back of the ampitheater would help. We will not be making it to the show this trip. Our DGD who is now almost 4 says "NO WAY GRAMMY!!"

Our DD was a little over 2 the first time we saw this and she slept through most of it. She enjoyed it on our last visit--she was 3 then. She had seen the clips of it on the vacation planning video so she knew about the dragon. She loves the movie, Sleeping Beauty, so she often talks about Mickey and the dragon. You are the best judge of your kids' reaction so I would talk to them and let them know that it is a show where Mickey fights a lot of bad guys and wins. We have sat pretty close to the front and it is loud, the water sprays on you and you can feel the heat from the fire so if you think this might bother your kids I would also recommend sitting a little further back. The ampitheater is designed so that there is not a bad seat.

Yes, it can be scary depending on the child. It's dark, loud, you get wet, and there's villians and fireworks.

When my younger DD was 1, she slept through it, 2 she cried through it, and at 3 and 4 she enjoyed it but still needed her ears covered and didn't like getting wet so we had her wear a coat.

Very much depends on your kids. If they don't like noise and darkness skip it. None of my 4 have ever been scared of this show, they LOVE it, even at the age of 2. If you sit a little farther back you will not get wet or feel the heat.

My kids have LOVED seeing this show each time we've gone!! My daughter was 17 months the first time we saw it, and it didn't scare her at all. She was fascinated by everything. We do talk to the kids beforehand, remind them that it will be loud and the villains are shown a lot, but they know that it ends perfectly.

I would recommend sitting towards the back. Not only will you be further away from the villians but it will be easier to leave if you need to. I would at least give it a try as it's a really great show. princess:

My five year old nephew was afraid to see the show, but wound up loving it. I bought him one of the Mickey lights (just the cheapest one available). I told him I got it from Mickey, and that Mickey told me that it would help him be brave if he got nervous. Well, that light helped my nephew through the show. Whenever he got afraid, he would raise that light up high, but he never took his eyes off the show. It was one of the favorite things he did on that trip.

You know your kids best. You know what they can and can not handle. It is loud, and dark, and that is intimidating for most kids (some more than others).

It can be scary if your child is sensitive to loud noises. It doesn't get that dark and the action is far enough away not to be intimidating in that way.

My DW took DD4 last September (DS3 wouldn't go to it b/c he doesn't like loud noises) and she was pretty scared. She was pretty intimidated by all of the "villains".
