Fantasmic! Fastpass!

I'm not sure if I get it right :p If I order a F! dinner package, (or just go to the FP automat) then I'll get a FP with an assigned viewing area (Pretty much like WOC). But will it be like WOC where you have to stand up? Or will there be seating so that when you arrive at the suggested return time, you'll be able to sit down? (Like the dessert package??)

Do you think FP will run out quickly? I'm thinking about booking a dinner package, since I'll be visiting during a pretty busy time (Dec 17+18 & 23+24)

There will be sections that are standing only and sections that will be seating on the ground. No sections will have chairs ike the current dessert seating offers.

Menus for the F! meals shoud be on the disney website starting 11/12 so you might to check them out before you book a package.

No one knows yet how quickly the FPs will run out.

You could always book a package, then once reviews and more info come it you could cxl it, if you so desire. I think that since it's new it'll fill up quickly...

More commonly there is a "guard" giving the stink eye to passerbys who may be stepping too close to their blanketed territory.

Oh my gosh this makes me laugh so hard :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: this is my 72 yro Mother who thinks this is her sole purpose of every Disneyland trip we take. Please accept my apologies for her but she trains for this every trip and takes her job VERY serious :ssst:

LOL. And I promise, even if we don't like the blankets, we never, ever step on them. I also hope your mom still enjoys F! as much once the new set up rolls out :)

I haven't seen it here ... and although not "official", it really shouldn't be labeled a "rumor" either, since it comes from the highly reliable source.

First, a little relief for those with APs. "Premium and Premier passholders receive a 15% discount; all other passes receive a 10% discount." [for all four dining/FASTAPSS options]

With the exception of the Hungry Bear dessert package, same-day walk-up reservations may be available. There are no refunds if a showing of Fantasmic! is cancelled.

There will be three distinct viewing areas for those who obtained FASTPASSES via the Blue Bayou, River Belle*, or Hungry Bear packages. It is not known if those who purchase the Aladdin's Oasis meal will watch Fantasmic! in their own section or with the general population of FASTPASS holders.
*Guests at the River Belle may - or may not - be able to remain at their tables to view Fantasmic!

No FASTPASS may be used for any other showing than that printed upon it.

A couple of things I want to address. Yes, the cash grab is there to get a meal for Fantasmic! But you can also just get a FP for the show without the meal and have a seat somewhere along the RoA. Not sure how good it will be, but it is an assigned seating area.

As far as campers go: right now, people camp out 3 hours in advance. With the FP in place, people will line up and then be allowed to grab a spot 1 hour before the show begins. If the line is anything like WOC, the CMs won't let you camp out until about 30-40 minutes before the line is supposed to form. The same will happen at DL for F! I see my wait time for a good seat here being cut in half. That seems like a good thing to me. I guess we'll wait and see.

Ugh- the Fantasmic Dessert package was our favorite Disneyland splurge. We loved having actual chairs. We finally gave up Blue Bayou for good, after we ate at Cafe Orleans for the first time on our last trip and realized how much better the food was there. For us, Blue Bayou is great atmosphere, but mediocre food which is very overpriced for its quality. Now, I guess it looks like we are going to be back there if we want to see Fantasmic. I'm guessing with the highest price, it will likely be the best viewing section of the dining options. I don't see this as helping with the wait outside of the dining FP areas- I see it as moving the wait. Instead of staking out spots, people will be forming FP lines. I also expect that Disney is going to try to cram more people in the sections with the FP and that it will turn into standing only like WOC. I'm not a fan of this change, but maybe they will prove me wrong.

F! can handle 9,000 viewers while WOC can handle 4,000.

This blew my mind! F! holds more than twice as many people as WOC?! I had no idea. Maybe it just seems like less because the area is so congested?

I am so disappointed. I'm afraid that if I do actually manage to get down onto a souvenir Fantasmic cushion, I might not be able to get back up. I have always complained that the Fantasmic dessert seating should be arranged when you make the reservation. But, now, if seems that they have made things worse with no actual seating on chairs at all. I can imagine still having to wait in line and now not even getting a chair! Oh, this is not going to work for me at all.

Any recent news about where the locations will be for each section? Or what the menu at Blue Bayou will be - is it just off the menu?

I would like to make reservations tomorrow but I feel like I'm a little in the dark, it would be nice to know a little more about where the areas for each package are.

The Mouseplanet link upthread had some information about the menus. I haven't seen any information about the viewing locations yet.

From the mouseplanet info (I believe it was there) I read that the menu for BB is the same entrees as without the F! package. It's just part of the 3 course deal (no idea on what appetizers and desserts will be). I'd assume since the BB F! option includes a souvenir cushion, that the viewing area will be up front somewhere.

The situation with Fantasmic! at DL has been borderline intolerable for years. The locals, who have all seen the show zillions of times, selfishly hog all the best viewing areas. They leave the scraps for the tourists, who may never get another chance to see it. Either that, or you can stay awake for the later show, despite the fact that it's almost mandatory to get there at rope drop to beat the crowds!

Why don't the tourists grab spots on the ground for hours, just like the locals do? Glad you asked. We're paying big bucks to be there (flight+hotel+tickets, etc., etc.) and have precious little time in which to do everything we want. It would be crazy to waste hours and hours for one show. But for fanatical locals with APs, who can cherry pick the times they enjoy this and that event at DLR, it's no big deal if they don't have time to do much else that day. They live in Cali; they never miss anything.

That's why Fast Pass for this show is highly overdue. It gives someone else a chance to see the show with a good view, without putting a huge cramp in their precious, scarce vacation time.

I'm excited at the idea of FP for Fantasmic.

My husband and I haven't seen the show in years because it is too crowded, and every visit we've made the during the past few years, there are people camping out 3 to 4 hours before the show even starts. Plus every dessert seating we've tried to book has always been sold out on our visits.

Since my husband and I usually eat at the restaurants that now offer Fantasmic FP meal packages, this is even better.

I completely agree with you. I wish Disney would hurry up and add Magic Band and FP+ to Anaheim.

I can get behind the arguments for adding FP to Fantasmic. But to me that in no way is an indication of a need for FP+. I think having such a high quantity of APs is going to make that even more complicated than FP+ in WDW.
