For the last week of April, would it be wise to do a fantasmic dinner package?
Last year, we totally missed fantasmic due to weather, and I don't want to miss it this year. Would you pay the extra to be able to not have to wait so long in line?
Thanks.

It doesn't cost extra. At least I know it is still 1TS credit for Mama Melrose or H&V, or 2TS at Brown Derby... just like non-Fantasmic dining.

ooohhh, great, thanks. I just assumed they'd charge extra! Thanks so much for the reply.

I just made my reservation today. The only thing that is required is a credit card to secure your reservation. You can cancel it up to 3 days prior. But if you show up for your meal even if you dont go to the show, then you have nothing to worry about. Nothing will be charged to your card unless you are a no show.

Can you make fantasmic package reservations online or do you have to call? If you can do it online do you put it under special requests or some other way? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you still have to call in for those - they need a credit card to reserve your spot.

Call in only. There are links online to set ADR for Fantasmic, but it always give an error message and to try again later.

I realize that this is probably a stupid question, but how does the dinner package work for Mama Melrose's and the Brown Derby? I did MM a few years ago and you paid a set price for a fixed appetizer, entree and dessert. Now it seems like everyone is saying you can order anything off the menu. Does that mean that you are free to order what you like or is there still a set fee involved? So confused.

Since they did away with the special (and convenient) entrance for this I dont think the package is worth it. You have to sit off to the side and eat dinner around 4pm!

When we were there in December we used the special entrance as well as exit to the arena

I've done this in '08 and HIGHLY recommend it.... (2008 with H&V)

There is NO "Bad" seating For Fantasmic....

I have F! HBD ressies for May....

We've typically gone in JULY...so my experience is with HUGE crowds....but I say... "Why RIsk it".....

So I recommend it....

Have a magical visit !

Mary

The only way I would only say it is worth it if you really want to eat at one of those restaurants and don't mind eating at 4pm AND don't mind sitting to the side at Fantasmic AND don't mind still getting there early.

For us, the answer is no. We would rather eat where we want, when we want. We like choosing our seats at Fantasmic so we don't mind getting there extra early. We snack, we relax, the kids bring something to play with while we wait.

Have fun no matter what you decide to do!

It is worth it for us because My Mom would be in hurting shape standing in line, 78 and going pretty strong but still not a spring chicken,

We really liked the Buffet at Hollywood and Vine but last year had to eat at Hollywood Brown Derby to get Fantasmic package. My Mom was so impressed she asked why anyone would eat anywhere else? So we are going back there in 3 weeks!

^ That's a very good point.

If someone in your party has trouble standing for a long period of time, the dining package is the way to go...

We've done it twice now with BD, and have been very pleased with it. It takes the "Will we get in ? Will we all get a seat ?" worry out of things.

And it seems to me that dinner at 4pm is a bit of an exaggeration. ;)

Agree!

My dinners are/were actually early...UPON MY REQUEST... I don't know what else was / is even available...

But as BIG a meal as the WDW TS's are...I actually prefer most TS at lunchtime... and in fact ...refuse to eat after 6pm. (Trying to lose a few pounds):yay:

SO my 3:15p ADR at H&V 2008, and my upcoming May 4:05p ADR at HBD is actually a PERFECT time for me....But there were possibly other times that were available that wouldn't work for me...

HUGS,
Mary

Thats not an exageration at all. If you do the Fantasmic package your available times for dinner will be between 3-430 pm. Dont exaggerate by saying otherwise.

Given the reduced showings of Fantasmic there is nothing wrong with wanting to make sure you get in, but there are trade offs.

We did MM last year our time slot was 3:50pm If memory serves me right we got there and had about 20-30min wait till we were seated. We sat and enjoyed appies, then dinner and then dessert by time we were done it was now time to make the walk over to Fantasmic. as you have to be the no less than 30min before show time for the piorty seating.

The way I look at it everone is waiting at somepoint I would rather wait and eat a nice dinner then spend that time in line/sitting on a bench holding my place for the show.

We enjoyed the meal there and the atmosphere was fun.:thumbsup2
