I'm so excited for you! We just got back (stayed at AKL).

We have done the Fantasmic Dinner package on the last 2 trips. One time at Mama Melrose's, and this time at the Brown Derby. When we did Mama's, we were a party of 12. Service was great. Food was decent but a bit overpriced for a fairly average Italian meal. Cute atmosphere. This time we did Brown Derby, as it was the only restaraunt at MGM we had never tried. Food is fancy, and children's items are limited. Overpriced but good. Our waiter was not particularly attentive for the money.

I am glad we did the package, as it ensured decent seating. However, here are a few complaints...You still really need to get there an hour early. They say up to a half hour before the show, but you may have a bit of trouble getting a good seat if you wait that long. An hour in the August heat was nearly unbearable. I also noticed a disturbing trend this time. Apparently, to save money (which I respect and understand), some people have realized that if they only send one or two of their party to the Dinner, they can save seats for the rest of their party in the reserved seating area. I observed more than one group do this (I asked one man, and he was open about it). The cast members really just allowed it. One man literally brought in 15 people. And the reserved seating was very tight for those of us who forked out the money for the dinners.

However, our seats were very good, and Fantasmic was beyond amazing. If this is your first time, you won't believe your eyes, and you won't regret spending the extra to ensure seats!

Enjoy!

Heres a copy of my review of our experience doing the FDP on July 19.

MAMA MELROSE- FANTASMIC DINNER PACKAGE – This is our most visited restaurant in WDW. We have gone once on each of our last 8 trips now and it’s always a great meal (with 1 exception due to a changed menu, and them not having what I was really in the mood for). We have done the FDP here before and I still think its too much food, but to get a seat for Fantasmic and to eat at one of my favorite places, it’s worth it.
We arrived about 5:15 for our 5:20 PS and were seated right away. We were surprised at how empty the restaurant was. I wondered if it was because of how they don’t open up those later times until about a month in advance. Maybe people aren’t trying back???
With the package, they start you out bread and 2 dipping sauces, a pesto and tomato basil. There were really good. It was something different we dont usually have. We were then offered a mixed green salad to share. We had this the last time and didn’t care for that type of lettuce so we requested to have Caesar salad instead. They were able to make this substitution and we were very glad. The salad was great. We then got our choice of any 2 flat breads. We ordered 1 Four Cheese, and also ordered a Pepperoni. The menu doesn’t have a plain pepperoni, but one with peppers & onions. We asked to have it without the peppers and onions and they were able to do that for us too. Boy we were picky at this meal, weren't we? The 4 cheese flat bread is one of my favorite things at MM and it did not disappoint. Its very cheesey, but I guess that’s obvious. The pepperoni flat bread was just as good. Instead of having thin circles of pepperoni like most pizza have, this had some thick long strips of it. Again you could tell this was good quality food. For our entrees, DH & I both got the Chicken Parm with pasta. Despite the fact that the chicken was barely breaded if it even was (it was tough to tell under the sauce),it was still very good. DM got the Penne Alla Vodka which was also very good. We had both wanted to try it, but weren’t sure so we decided to share our meals so we could both try it. I think if I were to go back again Id get that next time it was so good (I’m a big pasta person). The kids both got plain pasta and were happy with that. This time for dessert we were told we had our choice of any dessert on the menu. Last time we had to choose between 2. I had hoped to get a cannolli since we had our choice, but they were no longer on the menu. Instead I got cheese cake, DH had tiramisu, and DM got the spumoni. The kids had a vanilla & chocolate gelato. Everything was good, but by that time in the meal it was tough to eat. Once again, we were very pleased with our meal here and the service was very good too. DM thought this was the best meal of the trip.

Thanks for thr reviews!!! i am sure i will like the food.CANT WAIT JUST HOURS AWAY!!!!!!!!LOOK DOWN!!!!:wave2:
