We have done this twice. First time @ Momma Melrose's and the other at HBD. At MM's, your appetizer is a family sized flat bread. and your desert options were limited. I think there were two options but I can't remember. This was the only time I have eaten at MM's so I can't say how much the choices for entree were limited.
The second time was at the Hollywood Brown Derby. We eat there every trip so I am familiar with the menu. We were allowed to select any appetizer and any entree. There was only one choice for desert and that was a raspberry moose in a chocholate "cup".
This is probably a good deal, relatively speaking for Disney, if you are a big eater and aren't pickey. I personally do not like raspberries so I was disappointed in the desert.
We have done the Fantasmic Dinner Package when each adult was required to select a separate entree. This worked well for us since we always skip the appetizer, order individual entrees, and split a desert between the two adults. But for us, the way the package is structured now, there is just too much food for us.
Also, we have a now 2 year old and a 5 year old that are light eaters. Often we will order one child's menu item for the two of them to split and there is still food left over. But when we did the package at the HBD, we had to get a child's meal for each of the two children. For the children the FDP included an entree and a sundae. We ate after the 6:30 Fantasmic show and my 2 year old ate about half of his hotdog and fell asleep. We told our server not to bother bringing his sundae. So we spent $10.99 (I believe that was the price) for his hotdog under the new package. The regular price for a hotdog on HBD's menu is $4.99.
In essance, for our family, we spent a little over $100.00 for a dinner experience were we nomally spend under $70.00. So for us, it isn't a good deal. I would prefer that they go back to the old way and I have sent an e-mail to customer service to let them know that I feel that way.
