Only been to WDW twice with my DS (now 7, almost 8) First time I didn't know ANYTHING about Character meals, dinner packages, etc. 2nd trip--knew abou them, had ressies, and DS always ended up being too worn out to go (that was pre-transplant). This time I'm ready to go, he still doesn't know we're going, but I want it to be the best it can be!!

Have birthday dinner ressies at CP and thanks to DIS's Jim&Robin, have Illuminations cruise!!!! So exciting! I also have ressies for Mama Melrose Fantasmic! dinner package. I'm excited about it but have seen elsewhere (I think it was allears) that the Fantasmic packages aren't really worth it because the seats are not good. Can anyone guide this lost lamb???:sunny:

The seats are to the far right... if you get there eary enough you can probably get a seat on th eleft side of this section where the view will not be too bad. If you show up later then you will end up all the way to the right in the upper sections. We were in the middle upper sections and the view was not that bad. A plus to this is that when the show is over, if you move real fast, you can beat the crowds out. We managed to get to our bus before the crowds and had a nice ride back to hotel... no people standing.

We chose not to do the FDP last week. We got food on the way (Rosies?) and got a seat 1hr before show time and waited. For us, the FDP wasn't good because my DS6 & 8 were not interested in the restaurants available, plus the seating times were too early for us to want to eat ! We got seats front and center and had a great time. Did get the boys Magical Moments games to pass the time, and brought towels for them to sit on (metal benches-ouch and cold!).

We opted for the FDP last week and it worked out well. We ate at Hollywood and Vine. Our kids are 7 & 4 so this worked out well for them and us. Because of the preferred seating, we only had to show up a half hour early. We got decent seats though they were just a bit farther to the right than what would have been ideal. Still, they were good enough and we saw everything just fine.

We'd probably book the FDP again.

We have done Mama Melrose's Fantasmic package twice.

Last year was before the fixed price meal they now have. Dinner was good but expensive. We generally eat few if any meals that expensive while in WDW. In addition, it rained that night and we skipped Fantasmic!

This year my DS11 and I did Mama Melrose's fixed price package. I thought the price was reasonable for the amount and quality of food we received. The package included a pizza appetizer to share, a salad, any entre, dessert (limited choice) and beverage. We were stuffed when we left and I thought it was a good deal even without the special seating arrangement.

As for seating, we went in about 45 minutes early and were in the second row in the second section from the right. I was surprised at how full the theater already was but we probably could have got similar seats on the other end. As long as you still arrive at least a good 1/2 hour before the show, you should be ok. As someone else mentioned, exit is much quicker from these two sections. We were able to exit the theater, get our car, drive to the Beach Club, and get to Beaches and Cream in about 20 minutes. It might take 20 minutes just to exit the theater from the other side.

Personally, I'd skip the package and just eat dinner and get seats on your own, but that's just me :)

The seats are decent, there really aren't any bad ones. It really comes down to whether you want to wait in line for seat. In the summer when we did the package the lines were about 2 hours to get in, then the 30 mins looked pretty good.
