We got Mama Melrose (never eaten there) I was hoping for Hollywood and vine (paying oop) so the price is better

My question is how is the food at Mama Melrose?

I've been reading to avoid the HS on fantasmic night because of crowds, we've seent he show many times in the past but still enjoy it. What do you think is it way too crowded?

Going on August 23rd. Thanks

Our Ratings of Mama Melrose: (2/2/2011)
. . . food price value: C

. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B

NOTE: The Italian restorante does try to serve
authentic dishes, but like most WDW eateries, is
highly Americanized. Even though, the food is tasty
and pleasingly plated. However, the pricing is high
for the meals offered, bringing the "value" rating
down to a "C". We were not satisfied with paying $20
for spaghetti with clams and clam sauce, and the $22
Pork Chop was overpriced. They do have an Italian wine
cellar, but nothing to write home about. Even with
these negatives, the eatery is more than acceptable
as an in-park restaurant, and is well above average.

We were very pleasantly surprised with Mama Melrose last week. It's WAY better than Hollywood and Vine.

As far as the food I'd probably put it on par with The Olive Garden. Not that the Olive Garden is awesome or anything, but it's certainly decent enough that we return. Hollywood and Vine is more like Golden Corral, but not as good.

We had the F! package at Mama Melrose. It's the only way to do F! in my opinion.

We did the MM F package when we were there last week and we really enjoyed ourselves. Granted we have eaten at MM before without the package and still had a wonderful time. It has become a favorite restaurant of ours in DHS. We really liked using the F package because we didn't have to wait for hours on end trying to get a good seat. We walked into the theater 15 minutes before the show started and we still got great seats. You definitely won't regret eating at MM :goodvibes

We did the MM F! package on 5/9. Maybe we were at ajacent tables?

We enjoyed ourselves very much too. Our server, Holly, was great! Inspired us to order extra cocktails so our bill was still pretty big even though we used our dining plan to pay for the dinner.

MM is one of our favorite in-park restaurants. We have done the f-package several times and wouldn't think of doing it another way. Is it a 5-star restaurant? No, but it was good, hot and portions were plenty large. You will enjoy it, have fun.

We did the Fantasmic dinner package with Mama Melsrose. Loved it! DH had mussels and pasta and I had a flatbread pizza - delish! DH wants to go again but I wanted to try Via Napoli. Not that I wouldn't go again - but I wanted to try something different.

We Love Mama Melrose :thumbsup2

We really liked using the F package because we didn't have to wait for hours on end trying to get a good seat. We walked into the theater 15 minutes before the show started and we still got great seats.

others may not want to cut it so close--they do tell you to show up 30-45 mins early, and the last time we sat in the reserved section, they did open it up to the standby line at 30 mins prior to the show (and it was promptly filled by them).

Thank you all for the great information (I love the pictures - YUM!). I feel much better about our reservation now!

We did the F! package there last Monday. DH wanted the antipasto for two appetizer, so we got that even though I didn't want it (used meal plan). Neither of us really like most of it. Our fault. We should have gotten something different. DD loved the salami, DH was sad that she ate it all. LOL
I am pretty sure we both got the steak. It was good. I would go back.
Oh, the only complaint I had was that they were super busy. We had a 5 pm reservation, got there about 10 minutes early. Waited at least 30, probably 45, minutes for a table! Longest wait we had by far for our whole vacation.
