Fantasmic Dinner Package in September?

Okay, for those of you who have been down there in late September, how necessary is it to have the Fantasmic Dinner package (and reserved seats) during that time of the year? I know the crowds *should* be fairly light, but what is the typical wait to get into fantasmic around then? I know I want to see the show, I also know I don't want to wait in line for an hour just to get a seat. Obviously nothing is guaranteed UNLESS I get the package, but if you were a betting person . . .?

I am very interested in knowing the answer to this as well. The problem I have right now with the fantasmic package is that the times for the Brown Derby are 3:30-4 PM... That is more of a late lunch than dinner.

Prime seats were still available about 40 minutes before the show, and all who came in were seated--they didn't even open up the far section last year. However, that was between hurricanes, so YMMV.

we walked right in last Sept w/ 5min to go. Sat towards the middle. In May we also walked right in and sat in the far right all the way up. Both seats were fine and I see no reason to wait 1hr unless you are in peak season.

Thanks so much! I am trying to plan the gluttony that is to be my MYW dining package - and trying to decide if I want to try and do a Fantasmic package and risk whether or not they will honor the dining plan - I know that some people have w/o a problem while others have not been allowed to do so. Especially if I can just walk into the stadium reasonably close to the show, we may just do counter service and eat while we're waiting rather than a TS at MGM, and instead do another signature dining experience. Hmmmmm...., or do I mean yummmmm . . .?
