Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

I have a PS for H&V/Fantasmic in November. I have read that the reserved area is on the right side of the theatre. Are we required to sit in that area or can we sit elsewhere if we choose?

Thanks.

I just called this morning to book my FDP and the CM said that they weren't booking them yet for Dec. Anyone else get the same response? I'm wondering if it's a "different CMs know different things" and maybe I should call back? Has anyone been able to get one for December?

If not - does anyone know when I should call?

They are booking some of December. It all depends on whether you are 90 days out or not. FDP is now 90 days out.

Check the PS calculator for the date you want and see if the CM was wrong!

I booked for Dec 1 back on Sept 3.

Minnie's Mate, the FDP is only good for the 6pm showing of Fantasmic, or whatever time the 1st showing is that night, so you'll have to change your PS if you want the package. This could have changed, but we booked the FDP on December 29th last year and our PS was for 4:40 at HBD. We assumed this meant we'd go to the 8:30 Fantasmic (they had one at 6:30, 8:30, and 10:30 at that time of year) since it was cutting it close to the 1st show, but we were told when we arrived for our PS that the FDP was only valid for the 1st showing of Fantasmic everynight because you didn't need it for the others since they're not as crowded. Well it was the busiest time of the year so every show was crowded, even 10:30! So we asked many different CMs at HBD to let us see the 8:30 show since we weren't seated until after 5 and we'd have to be in our seats in an hour, but no luck. They told us they'd give us a voucher for another night, but it would have to be at 6:30 since that's the only time they have the reserved seating for FDP, and that was only after waiting to be seated since 4:30 and finding out that they left a message on our home answering machine after we had arrived in WDW (which we obviously had not gotten) to tell us that 4:40 was too late to make the show and they changed our PS time.

Today is 90 days from when I want to book it - that's why I called. I want it for 12/16. The CM told me they won't be booking it until they know the show times, which would be October. Maybe he didn't know what he was talking about? I'll call back.

Anyone else know?

Yes, it sounds like you got a CM who didn't know that FDP is now 90 days like all other restaurants. I already booked December 1 on September 3.

Or maybe he's right and for some reason they don't know the show times??? But I highly doubt it. Call back!

I booked our Saturday, 12/13 FDP on 9/15 with no problem. Perhaps you just needed to give it another day or perhaps they really don't know yet what time they'll do Fantasmic on a Tuesday. BTW, I took the latest available PS at the BD which was 4:30.

I have a PS for 5:50 for 10 people (6a 4C) for the FDP Am I going to make it to the 7:30 show. Im going Oct 7 (tues). I hope I will or it would not be fair of them to hand out such a late seating time. I hope we willl be done eating at 6:50 and then head right over/ Any thoughts:confused:

We had a PS for 4:40 for either a 6 or 6:30 show (I don't really remember which it was). Anyway, Disney decided after we made our PS that it was too late for us to get to the show, so they called us and moved the time up earlier. Unfortunately, they called us at home and left a message, but we were already at AKL so we didn't get it until we got home, a week later. So we showed up for our PS at 4:30, but didn't get seated till after 5, so we had to rush through our meal and then literally run to the reserved seating entrance, but once they let us in, they opened the section to the general crowds, so we had to continue running to get seats before the mob behind us caught up (and there were many, many people). They told us they'd give us a voucher to see the next night's show, but we already had plans for the rest of the stay so this was the only time we could see it. We got seats, but they were really not great since we were the last FDP people to get there. But also, this was December 29, when the parks were mobbed for the holidays, so since you're October 7th it shouldn't be as bad. I guess it also depends though on how long you have to wait for your PS, if you're seated at 5:50 you'll be fine, but if you're not seated until 6:15, it would be close, especially since you're a large party.

thanks for the info, I guess I might call and try to get an earlier PS or show up early so I am seated on time. I think if we sit on time we wil be OK because it is a buffet and we can get our own meals and not wait to be served

We just did this at Mama Melrose's.

The food was very good, so I was pleased with that! It was $28.80/adult and about $10 ($9.99??? I think) for the kids.

We got Salad which was VERY good, Our choice of 2 appetizers to share with everyone, entree and choice of dessert.

We picked whatever we wanted in each category from the regular menu.

We ate at 4:30 and had to be at the show at 7:00. Had time to see the Muppet show in between. But, I must say, that the dinner TOOK FOREVER!! I was very disappointed about the slow, take you time to eat attitude. My kids did not want a 2 hour dinner. I did not want a 2 hour dinner. So that was the big down side.

We enjoyed Fantasmic, but made the mistake of sitting close to the front. Much of the show is projected onto a water screen that they make by shooting a fan of water out of the canal that runs between the seats and the stage. Very cool effect...but, we got soaked. The wind blew the water all over us. If it had been warmer, it would have been better & wasn't terrible anyway....I thought it was funny, but am not sure my Mother in Law or 3 yr old princess totally agreed.

Have fun!

I hate to ask this w/o looking at all 19 pages of this thread, because I have a sneaky suspicion it's already been answered. But I don't have time to peruse 19 pages!, and the "search" function isn't working. I would like to know if anyone has a list of the menu selections for Mama Melrose's Fantasmic package. Or, maybe a copy of the regular menu vs. Fantasmic menu. Anyone?

You can get all the information on the Fantasmic Menus at Debs All Ears Net

Just scroll down until you see the question "Is there a charge for the package". Hope this helps.

Sounds like convenience = more money just like everywhere else. Uncle Walt is just a little more efficient.

My family was planning to do a Fantasmic package, I'd really like to hear what that "limited" menu consists of......

Per the past couple replies, a point I think is key to assuage the guilt of those of us who've made PS's: It's kind of a Catch-22. Yes, Disney is out to make a buck--but it's based on demand for what everybody, DIS boarders included, says is a must-see show. Especially w/young kids who may not take kindly to a long wait, many of us feel we have to get a ressie to be safe, and the old system--within seven days while on-property--could mean Brown Derby (and a $100 tab) or bust. Also, in my case at least, Hollywood & Vine will only cost $5-$10 more for the entire family, which again (scroll up--or down?) includes a 2 1/2-year-old who won't be charged but will eat. Just my 2 cents.

I agree, I think spending the money is well worth not having to wait the 2 hours to get in with little kids. I have 3 kids under the age of 7. No way will they wait in a line that long. Even my DH who is a penny pincher says it is worth it if we don't have to wait.

I'm wondering too, if I would need this package in January. We are going to be going to Fantasmic on Sunday, January 11th, hopefully and I wondering if it will be so crowded that we would need the package. We went last year around the same time and I don't remember it being all the packed, and I think there was only one show that day.

Any insight would be GREAT!:D

Just got back from our trip; did the Hollywood and Vine Package on Oct 1.

The restaurant was wonderful--PLENTY of excellent food to chose from and fill up on! I'd DEFINITELY recommend going to the powder room just so you can sneak a peekaloo at the Prime Time Cafe (they share the same building).

Don't think we really needed the package however to get a seat; the Fantasmic theater was 2/3 full when we went half an hour before it started and there was plenty of seats to chose from. By the time it started the place was packed, but next time we go we'll just show up late and take what they have left. We sat right at the front and because of my poor vision I still couldn't see what was going on the stage.

Husband absolutely HATED waiting the half hour before it started (though he did smile a bit during a last minute theater wave). No pre-show; was HELL with him and two little kids wating for half an hour... :(

Show was AWESOME however!

Last week I called and made a reservation for a friend and was told the cost was $19.99/adult. They travel in Dec, so I just called to verify and the CM told me it didn't matter when the reservation was made, the price increase was effective to all reservations dining after Oct 19th.
