I have never been to H & V, but we are going to be there on 7/3 for our FDP (I just got reservations last week!), but as far as tipping, I am sure you are still expected to tip--there will be a server, someone to clean up after you and also to take (alcoholic) drink orders. Maybe someone else will say otherwise, but I can't imagine going to a restaurant and not tipping, unless it's fast food, and then (sometimes) there is a cup to put tips in sometimes.

Hey Buzzlady! It's almost trip time! We are driving from MD (me, DH, DS's15, 13, 9 and DD11) staying at OKW except for CBR on 6/28. We may see Fantasmic on 6/30, but just in case our plans change, I made the dinner deal. I really would love to do BD, but I think the kids will be happier with H&V and so will our budgets! I didn't realize Mama Melrose was a set price.

I'm tempted to see the show and eat while waiting in the seats. We've typically done the 1 1/2 hour wait (I bring the cards from our Disney Trivia game and ask my kids and others around us questions). This time a friend is meeting us who hasn't seen the show, so I want to make this as pain- free as possible. I hope it's worth it.

For what it's worth, here's what my tipping guideline says for buffets:

Tip 10% if the server delivers all or part of your meal or keeps your drinks refilled.

Just to confirm the 60 days is in effect....I called yesterday and reserved for August 17 with no troubles. H&V, at the regular prices. He said the latest seating was 5:40; Fantasmic is scheduled for 8:00 that night. That should be perfect, and might even give us a chance to see the parade at 5:00 before we eat! Seatings started at 3:00 or 3:10 I think, and there was plenty of availability, even for our party of six, so I think not many people are aware of the 60 day policy now. There is a credit card guarantee, if you don't show up or cancel within 48 hours of the PS you are charged $10 per person; I think that is the same as the previous policy, but I get confused

GF concierge just reserved me the Brown Derby for August 14. Fantasmic is at 9 that night and 6.30 is the latest PS that they are taking.

Here's what he said about it "The very latest guests are able to make a dinner-show reservation for this package is 6:30 pm, and there are at this juncture very few places available". If anyone else is planning doing this package during this timeframe, it might be an idea to book now.

I assume there was a set price for Brown Derby. Do you remember what it was?

I thought it was $36.99 adult and $9.99 child excluding tax.

We went last year and thought it was pricey but good value as the food was good and portions were huge. If I had one complaint it would be that I wish they had a slightly cheaper menu with just two courses- I found the 3 courses a lot to eat in the Florida heat KWIM? Still, I did enjoy it and the kids loved the desserts and the mickey mac and cheese.

When we did BD/Fantasmic in May we had no set menu, no set price range-we were able to order whatever we wanted from the regular menu and paid accordingly. (We love the BD-really good filet and lobster tail and dessert to die for)

Talked to some of my neighbors about this and we are all in agreement it is another case of Disney Blackmail.
Like E-Ride where some poor Joe paid full admission MK and it closes at 7:00 so they can get 12.00 extra from those that go. SAD, SAD.

Excuse me? Blackmail? If you want to sit in the reserved section, then you purchase the package. If you want to sit in the non reserved section, then you stand in line. If you wish to go to E Ride night, you pay extra, why shouldn't Disney get more money for keeping the park open later? They have to pay the CMs that have to work the shifts, they incur additional costs. This isn't blackmail, it's business. Sorry you feel they way you do, I just don't agree.

A family of DH,DW, DD & DS under 11 has to come up with a dinner tab of $100.00 plus at BD to see a show. I know a 100.00 is not much to some, I’ll drop more then that in tips. To a lot of people in this economic time it is a lot and could very well be the difference in coming here or not.

I have a problem that I have to select from a limited menu, what’s next you can’t watch the parade unless you have a Hot Dog and Popcorn?

The economics don’t add up on the E-Ride Night. Information I have from Disney is it is limited to 5000 tickets. At 12.00 dollars a copy that’s $6000.00 and the math does not jive if this is correct. However, that is not my augment; the fact that it is limited to a few select resorts is the argument.

As for CM’s being paid, no quarrel from me on that. My neighbor and his wife are CM’s I know how hard they work for their check.

I grew up with Mr. Disney and I know his moral fiber. Go back and watch his first movies, he always had a secret message in them. That will tell you what Mr. Disney was about.

We are doing the Fantasmic! package through H & V which is $19.99 per adult and $9.99 per child which we didn't feel was that bad. And it's a buffet so there's no fixed menu with that. Basically, we just added H & V onto our dining list and you get the Fantasmic! bonus!

I believe the package has changed again to standard menu pricing. and not a limited selection. But yes, you pay the entry fee and you wait in line, just like you do for the rides, if you can't get fast pass, the busses at the end of park hours, the monorail at Epcot after Illuminations. Waiting in line is what you do at WDW, the only getting around that is to go when no one else is there. No one is making anyone buy dinner to see the show. I don't really want to spend the hundred plus bucks either, but we have to eat, we want to see the show with out waiting forever, so it makes sense to me to do it. I chose HBD btw because I want to see what all the hype is about the place. I have eaten at H&V, it's time to try something else. And if we get popcorn and a drink, that's good too. If not, I still had a great meal (I hope) and get to see a really great show.

I will pay to do E night also, I have never done it before, the boys I am taking will love it, and because I am paying for something special, I expect to be able to enjoy it with fewer people. Like the 999 Haunt Ball, or MVMCP or the NSSHP.

Again, I appreciate your opinion, I don't share it. But I am going to have a very magical trip, and I know your neighbors will be part of that magic.

Couple of quick questions....and comments..

Can someone please tell me when e ticket night is? AND is it worth the extra $12? We did not do it when we were there 2 years ago because we were too exhausted! LOL....But I think I would like to try it this year...but I can't seem to find out what night it is.

AS for Fantasmic.....2 years ago we went and saw it....the best show on earth!!!! .... at the time I knew nothing about dinner packages or getting special seating.....so we waited in line...it wasn't too bad of a wait and it was very well worth it!

I can't say I actually agree with what disney is doing.....but hey it is good business and after all they are there to make money .... after all they have stockholders too!!! LOL......that being said....I am making reservations for the dinner show....I can only say that I hope that the food is really good....because there is no way that my 2 DS will eat $23 - $30 worth of food.... but the show is sure worth it!!!

are listed on the disney.com site, you put the month in you will be there and you can get the park hours, schedules, etc. Not every month is there, but if your isn't just keep checking. I believe that e nights are seasonal, I have been in April and they didn't have them. But the web site is a good plave to start.

we are doing the dinner pkg. end of July. We are doing Mama Melrose this time (We did Brown Derby last time when there was no set menu)
Our PS is for 4:50 which is great because we can hit a few rides after dinner before going in. Show is at 9:00, so we plan on going up around 8:30. Cost is 28.99 per adult, 9.99 per child, which is good to me. Worth it to avoid the wait in line.

Ijust called Disney you cannot book the FDP now for December. It is 60 days in advance.
