I'm a total "newbie" to this. We have never even seen Fantasmic. So, I have a couple questions...

1. Can the Fantasmic Dining Package be used with the DDP?

2. Are you limited in the menu with the package if you are able to use the DDP?

3. Are you "tied down" to which show you have to see - we are traveling at the end of June and I assume there will be 2 shows.

4. Totally worth it?

Just a note...we have 3 young kids, ages 7, 6 & 2½. Thank you so much!

Hi Disneyolic!

1. Yes. HBD is 2 TS credits, MM and H&V are both 1 TS credit.
2. No. There used to be a separate menu at MM's I know, but as of 4/1, you just order off the regular menu -- appetizer, entree, dessert, beverage. H&V is a buffet.
3. This I don't know. We are going to the 9 pm Fantasmic in May -- the 10 pm show might be a little late if your kids are that young.
4. I think so -- we are having dinner anyway  Seriously, MM wasn't our first choice for dinner; if we weren't doing the package, we'd probably eat somewhere else. But, we like Italian food just fine -- as long as it's decent, we'll be happy. Having the priority seating for Fantasmic will be worth it for us, not having to wait 60-90 min in line. If your kids are big eaters, or are a bit picky, then H&V would probably be a better option for you -- because even on the kids' plan they will have all the same choices as adults on the buffet, and can eat as much as they want. But the kids' menus for HBD and MM are available to look at online, as well.

I have to comment on #4. I really didnt think so. Mama Melrose was where we ate at beforehand which is very good and I would go back there anytime but...getting into the show ahead of time just means a hot wait on benches without any backs (if I remember right). I think the exiting could have been handled better also (mooooooo!!) but I will not try to nit pick everything - it was a good show. Its just that you're herded everywhere from eating to busses. Its kind of like the Hoop Dee Do, good once every few years but not a must see in my book.
Eat at Mama Melrose's then take advantage of everyone in the park going to the show to ride ToT and RnRC backtobacktobacktoback.

We're booked for Mama Melrose's on the fantasmic. We have always waited in the long 90 minute line and watched others walk directly in and wondered how they did that. When we booked (we are on the DDP) they told us that they would give you a voucher and you come back 30 minutes before the show and walk right in. I'm happy with that. There is only one show on the day we booked. Our ADR's are for 5:45 and the show is at 8:00. We will enjoy TOT and other big rides while everyone else is in line waiting to be seated for the show. This alone is worth it to us.

We have discovered that we can see Fantasmic with no problem getting there the same time that people with the FDP do. Except during peak times.

I think it's a great show, and I think the FDP is worth it. We have previously dined at H&V, but are going to give MM a try this year. The seats for the show are good, once we got our seats, we tooks turns walking around (restroom, concessions, etc).

I feel herded like cattle at every show at Disney, but it doesn't stop our fun.

I say, give it a try and enjoy yourselves.

In response to question 4, I totally agree that it is well worth the money. It was great seeing everyone standing in line for Fantasmic while your still walking around and riding things....

I think the exiting could have been handled better also (mooooooo!!) but I will not try to nit pick everything .
I state this with absolutely no sarcasm: If you have suggestions regarding a better way to exit Guests from the Fantasmic! Theater after the show, you should write them out briefly and clearly, and e-mail or snail-mail them to Walt Disney World Guest Communications.

To answer the OP's question number 3 (I didn't see any other response to this, but I could be wrong): No. If there are two shows, the Fantasmic! Dining Package is only valid for the first show.

Thank you so much for all of your answers and comments. You don't realize how much I've been thinking about all of this, getting ready to change our ADRs, etc. Then when I mentioned this to DH he said he'd rather skip Fantasmic (and he's never even seen it). :confused3

I guess it also depends on the time of year you go, but we were able to walk right in at 8:30 pm and get the same seats that FDP guests have, but on the opposite side. No waiting for us and same seats. Plus, we got the dinner time and restaurant we wanted. :thumbsup2

Make sure you are on time...

We went last August & arrived at about 8:15 (instead of 8pm like the voucher said) for the 9pm show. There were really no seats left in the 'reserved' section & the rest of the seating was taken by those without the voucher.

This trip i just booked without the Fantasmic dinner package & got a better dinner time--not as early (only 5:45 was left at HBD). We're going to take our chances...

We don't bother with the package. We just eat wherever we like (usually not at the studios) and then show up about an hour ahead of time. We have always gotten much better seats than the "reserved" seats on the package. We only go in the summer, so yes that's even peak times.
