Fantasmic Dining Package Problems

Thank you Robo for that info! I just printed it for our trip in August.

1-Maybe you should have your own website with the accurate info we should all know.

2- This is why I love these boards.

1- Thanks for that.
But, I like it here!
So MANY great posters that each offer their own
area of info and experience! :teacher:

2- ME Too!

i love it...youll be happy to know there is only one entrance. well d'uh! thats what was written to you and you were busted...nice of them to try to put a happy spin on it!!!

quick question....if you book fantasmic package and then the show is cancelled due to rain, do they credit you a meal?

No they do not credit you a meal. You still get the meal even if it rains, you just don't get the show. You aren't paying anything extra for the show or the reserved seats anyway.

even if the package used two of your dining credits up and then the show is cancelled? all my travel books says it requires two credits.

Mama Melrose & Hollywood & Vine are only 1 TS & you are still eating the food. Even if you made ADR's there w/o F! it would cost the same.

yes i understand that either way im using one credit, however my travel books, passporters and unofficial guide says to do the f! package you use up two credits.

You only use two credits per person if you dine at Hollywood Brown Derby. If you choose Hollywood & Vine or Mama Melrose it only 'costs' one credit per person. Regardless of where you eat you will not be credited if the show is canceled. You're paying for the meal, not the show, so you'll still be charged.

i realize im paying for the meal and not the show...but it does say in passporters that all three of those restaurants use up two credits, sorry this is a bit off topic from my orignal post.

Well then I'd have to say that Passporter is wrong. It could by a typo, I don't know, I haven't seen it. I can assure you that H&V and MM's are only one TS credit each, per person. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to. :rotfl:

I'm sorry about what your guides say, but I just called WDW-DINE & they say both Mama Melrose & Hollywood & Vine are 1 TS.

You can cancel 48 hrs before if the weather report looks bad w/o penalty.

good to know then! thanks, it could be a simple typo as its set up with their system they have in the book "dd
p2" meaning disney dining plan and 2 credits. perhaps they just lumped it together cause brown derby requires two. wow thanks i just saved myself a credit!! or i should say you guys did!

Can someone just help me figure this out? My head is spinning reading all of this.

If you don't have the FDP, how early before showtime do you line up?

I did manage to the MM FDP in August, but after reading all of this, I'm seriously wondering if we should reconsider and eat somewhere we would enjoy more at a more suitable time. Seems like all the difference will be is going 90 minutes early instead of 60? Am I understanding this correctly?
I know there are reserved seats, but we should still be able to get a decent seat, right?

Also, if they take your full ticket at the entrance how do they know who sits in the reserved section :confused3

Finally, is Fantasmic REALLY this great? It has seemed so much trouble we have skipped it on previous visits. We thought we should see it this time, but seriously, I hope it is really awesome.

There is an area roped off at the entrance, you show your ticket and enter there. It's just to the right of the entrance area. At least that's how it was in January.

And I, for one, do not think it's worth it. :sad2:

They ripped my voucher in half and returned half to me.

Fantasmic was great to see once, not sure if I'll run back.

Yes, basically the idea is that w/out the package, line up about 90 min. prior to show time and w/ the package 60. As you can see from my OP, on really busy/crowded nights, 60 minutes might not even be enough though.

I know it seems like the ADR's for the F!DP are really early, but just keep in mind that if you make an ADR at another restaurant (w/ no dining package) you can't make it that late...you don't want dinner taking too long and making you late for getting in line!! With or without the package you want to be done and leaving around 6:30 or 6:45 so you have time to get to the entrance to get in line with the show.

The early dining times work out really well actually. By the time you get your food it's usually 30-40 minutes after your ADR time anyway. It's just the trying to get into the show (now that they have reduced the show times) that is the crappy part, in my opinion.

i was so happy to get the FDP. Our ADR is 4 pm at MM.
I'm going to have to discuss this with DH now. Seems like we might as well wait with everyone else.

The seats you get for the FDP are not very good either. The best dining package seats are basically the worst regular seating. All the way over to the right hand side, and some are so far to the right that you can see backstage, and the music gets to you before the visuals - so doesn't sync with the action in some scenes

I'm glad you posted this because I had no idea they had done away with that also. I was going to call to make our ADR, and now I think we'll re-think that. Thanks for the heads up. Sorry you had to experience that the hard way.

If you decide to give up your ADR, please let the folks on the Restaurant Board know...as many of those folks really, really want one! :thumbsup2
