So I haven't been to the park since last August. I see they have gone with a World of Color format. I'm going back in June for my hubby's 40th, I wanted to book the special package where you get the dessert box, roped off seating (in a chair) and a cast member bringing drinks and coffee.

Has this changed?

Thank you

It's changed. The dessert option is only at Hungry Bear and you get a FP for a section, no chairs anymore. There are other options though that didn't exist before. If you wanted to do something special, I would suggest doing the Blue Bayou dinner package. It's $61 for adults and you get a BB meal, a cushion to sit (on the ground) and a fast pass for close section front and center. We always used to do the dessert package, but while I miss the chair (and the dessert box), you get more bang for your buck with new deals.

Thanks,
I'm sad to see it go because this was really special for my family.

I agree, I was sad to see it go as well. It's definitely a different dynamic, but we did the package last Sunday and I thought it was great. Sitting on the ground makes it less of exclusive type of deal, but it was still worth it.

I agree. We were really sad to see it go. The Fantasmic Dessert package was our splurge for every trip. We loved having the chairs to watch Fantasmic and the fireworks. We absolutely love DL's Fantasmic with the Peter Pan section and since seeing it for the first time at DL, have never gone back to WDW's version. It is a must do for us. We are also very disappointed that most of the sections are standing now. That makes it so miserable for short people and kids to try to see the show. We feel like we are forced into doing the Blue Bayou package if we want to get a center seated (on the ground) spot- and we are not big fans of Blue Bayou. That atmosphere is great, but I have never had a meal there that I felt was worth the money or above mediocre, I have gotten steaks there on more than one occasion that were either so chewy or unevenly cooked (burnt on one area and raw in another area) that they were not even edible. $45 for an inedible steak is ridiculous. DD has been served chicken breast that was raw in the middle there on one occasion, and on another occasion she got chicken was so tough and rubbery you could barely cut through it (I tasted that one and told her she did not have to eat it- I would find her a different CS meal later). We finally tried Café Orleans last trip and loved it and said we would never do Blue Bayou again...now I guess we are going to be back to Blue Bayou for Fantasmic.

You should look into the other dining packages, River Belle Terrace (a new TS menu) and the new dessert deal. You will be in a section just left or right of the BB section (though close enough to center that you likely won't notice a big difference) and although they don't state that it's *guaranteed* that your section will be seated, I have yet to hear from anyone who has done the new dining packages that they had to stand. They probably just explicitly state the guarantee for BB seating to make it seem more exclusive. I think they would only have some of those sections be standing if you were there on a very crowded day.

I'm not a BB fan either, so it would be nice to have some other option. But, I also feel like DL isn't a restaurant or dining experience driven park, so what else can they do? I don't think there's anywhere else in the park that's going to produce anything near in value to BB as far as atmosphere, service and, yes, the food. (Bring back Tahitian Terrace! Too much to ask? Ok, maybe that's for another thread.) I get that they're trying to replicate the premium dining + show perk that worked for WOC, but, it's just not the same park. And I wouldn't say that BB and CC are really the same either.

Well, I like the Blue Bayou, but typically do it at lunch first thing so I have a water seat. This will definitely impact those who just go there to eat. I take it Disney did this to avoid the people who "camp out" in order to get a good seat.

How much is the BB package for a 9 year old?

$23 for kids $61 for adults. That includes appetizer and dessert and I will say as bad as my entrees have been every time I have eaten there, I had the gumbo appetizer once and it was really good.

Yeah...the F! dessert seating was one of my favorite things to do also. I like the new FP system but miss those chairs and dessert boxes!

F! just isn't the same without and endless supply of hot chocolate on a cold evening!
