Fantasmic Dessert Buffet

I believe I've removed any incorrect information.

Beautiful words to read! Thank you! It is one of those tiny things that has driven me crazy. DIS is so great about providing information and it has had the buffet information up there for sooooo long. Thank you for fixing it!

(whispers) If I may mention one tiny little thing... the header for that section still says "FANTASMIC DESSERT BUFFET." Maybe it could be changed to "Fantasmic! Premium Viewing and Dessert"? "Premium Viewing" is the wording used on DL's site. :goodvibes

THANK YOU for updating that page!

I think its worth the extra $$ cause then you dont have to sit and save your seat for a couple hours and you can still be out there enjoy the park and rides and not worry about having a sit.. I would at least do it once if you can afford it.

Doh! I meant to change that too. It's better now.

Thanks.

It'd be worth it if getting a good spot for Fantasmic! was difficult. It's not.

Seriously, show up 15 minutes before the show and you'll have a great view from the center, just go to the other side of the rope and violia. Do you have to stand? Yes. Is the view great? Unless you are very short, absolutely. Best of all, it doesn't cost $59.

I do this all the time on Sundays, most recently yesterday. It has never failed. Yesterday I got an amazing view showing up only 5 minutes before.

Try what you are saying when it is busy, holiday, summer, etc...you may see it a bit differently.

I've done it on packed summer days, during Halloweentime, on holidays - never a problem. Show up 15 minutes before and get a great spot at the back, in the center of the stage, right in front of the PotC entrance. And then me and my group can walk right on PotC to avoid the exiting crowds.

I have seen "F" numerous times and based upon what I experienced you would be lucky to get any view at all if you showed 15 minutes early. It took me 20 minutes to get to my seat from POTC with the crowd the last two summers and get a good view???? You can not even move. So you must have a trick of how to get thru the crowds surrounding POC because I sure can not.

And on the flip side, I would spend $520 for our group of 9 people. Only 2 of them are 9 years old. I don't think Fantasmic special seats are worth $520 for us.

We'll see the later show and get there right as the crowd for the first show is leaving. That gives us a chance to get some popcorn, chill out, take turns taking the kids to the restroom, etc.

Sure we're not on the rides during that time, but the park is open from 10am-midnight or 11pm every night anyway (and always is during busy/peak times). Being "out of commision" for an hour and a half is really not that bad in the overall scheme of things. :)

I agree with you, $60.00/a seat is not for everyone. The most I paid was for the 6 of us in the past. My butt does not adapt to the ground any longer. A bench, a rock, not the ground. When we are there in August people will start staking claim to their areas around 1630 -1700 if the can until the show starts. We spend our money being comfortable and not crammed into a crowd of hot, sweaty people.

Oh I fully understand. And if it was just us (with or without the kids frankly) we would consider it more. But adding in the extra group and the cost just makes it unreasonable, imo. I'm someone who will pay premium prices for good seats at the theater, concerts, etc but I'm also aware of what I pay for so I can't just "throw money at it" (if you have the means, more power to ya). Still, this is something I would consider sometimes.

This is one of the reasons we both have 2 jobs to pay for all the things we could not do without the extra income. It is our only vacation for the year(we do take a weekend a month and head for the Ore coast.) and we like to do it the most comfortable way.

This is pretty much where I'm at with this now. Just a tad to $$.
So we are going to do the stake out thing.

We just did this last week on Fri night. It was $60 each and no discounts available. I also can't sit on the ground and didn't want to waste time staking out a spot.

How's the view of the show from the reserved Dessert seats? If I have small kids, will I need to worry about people being seated in front of us?

The view is great and you may or may not need to worry about being in the front row. They arrange chairs in three rows. Younger kids will be best off in the front row. Unfortunately the only way to guarantee that is to show up at 6PM and wait it out until 8PM when they start assigning seats. Yes, a line builds at 6PM for reserved seat assignments for a 9PM show. Kind of crazy, right?

If you do end up in the back row (like we did last July - because we purposely did not come to get seats til 8PM) the CMs are cool about letting you move your chairs around (a little) and/or letting you stand up in the back. We did a combo of sitting and standing.

 This has always been my problem. I'm super short. I'm only 5'0 feet tall, and my mom is 5'3. So getting a viewing area which is managable to see is a complete fight, even if we show up a bit early. So we are highly considering this package just so we can say we have seen a clear viewing of it, insted of seeing a little blurp of a float or something as it floats passed and someone steps in the way again. I think it might be something to try at least once this package if we can get it. We never get to Disneyland at a slow time of year such as this, only in Late May/Early June. But this late November we are going. I am hoping maybe it will be a little different.

Until recently I've usually been a solo traveler and the one time I have done the Fantasmic Desert Seating I was only paying for myself which probably skews my idea of the price since I'm not paying for a family and watching thr price jump up. I've always been one of the people who camp out for hours for Fantasmic to get the perfect spot because I had to be along the railing of ROA in order to get the photos that I wanted and a view without someone in front of me. Sitting on the ground gets old after a while. I really got drawn in by the appeal of having a chair to sit in and a desert tray and beverages and found the price to be completely worth it for me. It just depends on what your priorities are. Plus it was a great way to 'pamper' myself.
